Favorite Coffee House in Portland! Lucky me, its just blocks away. What you need to know about Blue Kangaroo, beyond the delicious coffee, great atmosphere, and lovely folks who run this haven, is that this establishment consistently supports their community. Time and time again, they offer up the shop, are generous with their time, and donate their beautifully roasted coffee to support the neighborhoods schools and kids, without hesitation. This Saturday they are donating all of the coffee for an event at Cleveland High School - which is miles from their shop! - just because they know the kids in their community attend the high school, and they want to do their part to support our citys kids. In the neighborhood? Stop by and support this gem we are so lucky to have in Sellwood. Not in the hood? Come anyway! Stop by for a lovely treat, and head to one of our lovely outdoor spaces. Worth the drive!

I was very disappointed. Place was really dirty. I can handle a little run down. No excuse for dirty. Ordered regular house coffee. None available had to bring to the attention of the employee and after proving there was no coffee available. She offered to make more. (no delay in taking payment) After waiting a period of time she did quietly state that there was coffee now. Things happen and I can honestly state the the customer was not their concern. I have been there in the past. With the new style I am sure I will not go back. Try a different place would be my recommendation.

I was told this place had great coffee so a friend & I had to try it for ourselves. We went on Sunday afternoon about 2:00 & the place was full of people visiting & enjoying their beverages. The decor is funky, eclectic & very inviting. I ordered an almond milk latte to stay, which came in a cool retro glass. The espresso was so smooth I didnt need any sweetener. I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second! You can tell they roast their own beans with great care by the wonderful taste. This is my new favorite coffee shop. The only thing better would be one in my neighborhood.

Blue Kangaroo would be a find in many US towns and cities but in Portland it doesnt make sense. Quite crowded and right next to Either / Or (my top three list for Portland), New Seasons and Starbucks. The reason to go in season is the outdoor seating and immediacy to food carts and library. My actual ranking is 3.5. In order of coffee quality in Sellwood: 1 Either / Or - exceptional espresso drinks 2 Fairlane (Water Ave) and Rose City 3 New Seasons, Blue Kangaroo, Starbucks, The Living Room and QFC 4 Kahveology

I mail order from Blue Kangaroo and the coffee is very good (thats why I order through the mail...I live in the South). I wish I could say the same for the mail order service. It used to be great, not so reliable now. My last order wasnt sent until I called and the most recent order same thing. My email and phone inquiries were not returned. No matter how great the coffee, nothing is worth poor customer service. Two stars for mail order service. I would give four stars for the coffee, though.

Blue Kangaroo is my go-to coffee shop whenever Im in Sellwood. The roasted-in-house coffee is always fantastic and very complex, even when compared to other highly regarded local roasters. They range from aromatic, to bold, to unique (like their "Mexican" roast, I think thats the name, anyway, its got a really nice "spice" to it). Prices are more than fair and service is always great. Highly recommended!

I showed up this morning and asked them if they have stuff like sandwiches or paninis, and one of the ladies told me no, and the other one next to her said with an attitude "THIS IS NOT A GOOD TIME" i assume its because there was a big line and they were busy. Not a good costumer service, never going to go there again! People with this attitude should not be working in places like this.

This is one of my favorite spots for fresh coffee, roasted in house. Also on the menu is the Cubano, which is a drink to die for. Yumyum! Great little kids area, easy street parking, its a mothers dream spot to come while you wait for big sister to get finished with preschool. Not to mention Spielwerk toys is just around the corner!

BEST coffee in Portland...hands down! Great atmosphere, great neighborhood feel too! You wont be disappointed with any choice on the menu...I highly recommend the Cubano Latte. Cold or Hot...its delish! The owners are wonderful, as is the staff! Try it, you will never drink mainstream coffee again!

Very friendly. Drinks and snacks are always quite good. So good, in fact, the place could be twice the size and still be packed. Its difficult to find a place to sit a lot of the time, but thats because of the popularity. Its always my choice in Sellwood over the other coffeehouses nearby.

Mostly I just stop by to pick up bags of their coffee, which is far and away my favorite that Ive come across so far. Love all their dark roasts. Its a nice spot for sitting and enjoying a cup and a nibble as well though. Definitely recommend it to anyone.

This is one of my all time favorite places to go for coffee because they have Cubanos! They add cinnamon and sugar to their own roasted espresso grounds when they pull the shot. Also, it is set in a great neighborhood for walking, shopping, and eating!

Favorite small batch coffee roasters in Portland that I have found yet. Im not one for sweet coffee so I usually just get a cafe latte but the love they put into those beans brings out delicious tones of chocolate and caramel that one is to live for!

When I lived in Sellwood, we loved this place! My roommate would stop there every morning for coffee and once we moved away we got the beans so that we could make coffee at home. The coffee is amazing tasting and everyone was so lovely there!

Im not a coffee person, or this place would have been perfect. Options for small breakfast items, as well as a limited selection of non coffee drinks, this place specializes in coffee, with cozy comfortable seating and more traditional tables.

It was great coffee thats the positive. I will return here only for to go coffee. I came here to relax and get some work done. Its crowded with tables. Beware of the pedestal tables. Also, not much choices for outlets if you need a charge.

Good place to go for Cuban style coffee. Their menu has a Cubano Latte but you can ask for a Cubano espresso or machiato which is very similar to a Cortadito. Good for those of us who come from Florida or the east coast.

The Cubano as a macchiato, latte, or straight up espresso has become a ritual for me, and is a total win! Friendly staff, Great place to meet friends, read, or just relax and enjoy your morning, afternoon, or evening.

The coffee here is delicious and the staff are so attentive and nice. It feels like you are in someones living room but theres plenty of space. And they give away their coffee grinds so you can pump up your garden.
