I was really looking forward to going to Cellar Door...I heard that it had great coffee with an organic fair trade product. Ive been looking for a great healthy coffee place, so I went out of my way to visit the establishment. The place was nice, the atmosphere was good, and the people were friendly enough. Until they handed me the wrong coffee which I unfortunately discovered twenty minutes later at home. I called, not making a fuss but simply explaining what occurred and my disappointment. Instead of an apology for the mix up, the event was laughed off and brushed aside with no apology or reconciliation. After laughing at their mix up, I uncomfortably asked if they would put my name down somewhere so i could get the coffee i ordered at some point. With zero patience or politeness she said, "Im really not going to make a big deal out of this. If you need another coffee then get another coffee." Unfortunately I will not be returning to this establishment due to the complete lack of friendliness or basic customer service. Its a disappointment, because the coffee they serve really is great quality. I didnt want to post this review, but the business offers no contact information on their website. My hope is that the owner sees this and realizes the importance of who he has working at his establishments. You can have the perfect business, but all it takes is one rude employee with no regard to the customers experience to bring it all to hell.

My original plan was to find a not-too-hipstery coffee Portland coffee shop. I quickly realized that trying to find a not-too-hipstery Portland coffee shop is like trying to find a coffee shop without coffee. I have nothing against hipsters - theyre great! I just find myself to be a bit too mainstream and not ironic enough. Or, does this make me a hipster because I see myself as an anomaly? Le sigh. Regardless, the coffee shop is good. Hipster/friendly/kind/granola-y baristas. Lots of seating. Free wifi. People all around me talking about how to make things more sustainable. Baristas friend came in and was chatting with baristas about their upcoming bands tour. If you want the quintessential Portland coffee shop experience, come here. Oh, and if you want to overhead borderline psychotic coffee shop patrons arguing with each other (and themselves) about losing a bank card, I would now suggest coming here because, well, that just happened to me. Keep Portland weird?

I was passing through Portland on my way to a conference and had to finish some work. From the outside the cafe was very inviting (the everyone welcome sign helped!) and I was indeed welcomed by very friendly and cheerful staff. I stayed there for the whole day and was incredibly productive! Their coffee is great and while their food selection is limited, I had no objections to their bagels, and the wraps and quiche were delicious. The pricing is similar to anywhere in Portland, and the whole place feels very clean (including their WC). I felt so at home here I came back the next day and finished my work. If like me, you need a place to relax AND work, Cellar Door is the place to be.

I always drink the standard house coffee since I feel that is the best type of coffee you can get that shows the color of the cafe. I think Cellar Door makes their house coffee mostly using french press. It is sooooo gooooooood!!! I think its comparable to those $3-4 dollar artisan (black) coffee at some high end places. I moved to the Bay area now but Cellar Door is one of those place that I really miss. If you happen to visit Portland, definite check them out. Their soup is priced right (and good!!) and their Merenge Chocolate Cookie is awsome too!!

The espresso shot was ok, tasted like they salted it. The cafe experience itself was just irritating. A loud, obnoxious middle aged woman sharing her gold-enshrined opinions with her tablemates ruined it for me. She wouldnt shut up, and I couldnt hear myself think. On the plus side, the sumatran beans I took home are out of this world, and thats what I came for in the first place. Really like this coffee.

Sure, Stumptown coffee is all over the place and its good! But Ive been going to this coffee shop over the past year or so and Im finally convinced its the best in the Portland Metro area. Friendly staff & good treats for breakfast! Especially nice to run up here when Kettlemans bagels (just down the road) is packed and you just want to grab a bagel & coffee quick and run out for some weekend adventures.

This place seems to have a fantastic set of regulars. And they focus on the regulars, which is super important - but sometimes to the point of ignoring other customers. The atmosphere is neat and the coffee decent, but not worth going out of the way for.

A very enjoyable place to grab espresso, Cellar Door Coffee Roasters offers everything you can imagine from their wide range of beans. As a lacto-intolerant individual, I appreciate that they dont charge extra for soy milk.

Tried the Puddletown Blend in a small latte and it was great. Smooth, nearly chocolatey flavor with a faint bite. The shop itself seemed very cosy and welcoming, albeit a touch cramped. Definitely would recommend.

Favorite coffee place in Portland, for beans and lattes. We always bring out of town friends here, who consistently say their lattes are the best. Plus their flourless chocolate cookies are BALLER.

Fell in love with this coffee because they serve it over at The Big Egg in the NE. Now I come here occasionally for a bagel and the same coffee. Delicious on both accounts.

Delicious local coffee roasted on-site and friendly, down-to-earth employees. All of the coffee, none of the pretentiousness. This is my favorite coffee shop in town.

Wasnt a huge fan of this spot, dare I say too hip for me. Place definitely has an edge to it, you wont get a "hey hows it going today" in here.

Some of the cheapest coffee in Portland, and they dont skimp on quality to provide it. The atmosphere is cozy and the wait staff friendly. :)

Great coffee and great service. My only critique is that the loud music isnt very conducive to hanging out. Maybe mix up the music some.

A little beat up. Worse for wear. Could be cute and cozy. If anyone gave a damn. The coffee and wifi is fine.
