We had an absolutely horrible experience. If I could rate it less than one star, I would. First off the restaurant itself was very uncleanly looking, and understaffed. One of which, was a young boy who looked to be between the ages of eight and ten. Whom I watched eating from a basket of fries in the main kitchen area. Which I know from having worked in a commercial kitchen, and obtaining my food handlers card that it is against the health code. It took them a few minutes to seat us. Then we were completely ignored for several more minutes. Until my ten month old daughter picked up one of their menus, and was curiously waiving it around. The waitress then came over to our table, and snatched the menu from my daughters hands. Snapping at us, "can I get her something to play with, other than one of our menus?" I was shocked, and livid. I am a very understanding, person. If she would have asked me if my daughter could please not play with their menus, I would have been more than happy to address the situation. But coming over and ripping something from the hands of my infant, is absolutely not okay with me. At that point we had been ready to order for a few minutes. But the waitress immediately walked away. Then we watched a couple who were seated after us, recieve their drinks. The next time the waitress passed us, my husband flagged her down and told her we were ready to order. We were told another waiter on their staff would be with us in a minute. After another couple minutes had passed, the waiter who was supposed to be helping us bustled past our table and started clearing the booth adjoined to us. At that point we were done. We gathered our things and left. After almost 20 minutes in a dirty restaurant, without so much as a drink order being taken. And the only acknowledgement, being when my daughter had a menu ripped away from her. This restaurant is a joke, and we will NEVER return.

Reviews from two years ago and a previous location are still true. The name Flashback, with emphasis on ice cream/fountain, creates expectations of a festive, energetic experience that recalls a 1950s soda fountain shop. My experience was the opposite. The place looked drab and no employees seemed enthusiastic. Since these were the consensus of the two year old reviews, I suspect the problem begins with apathetic owners. The shake was good, but its hard to enjoy when youre in a depressing setting. Sad and drab are the most descriptive words for this place, and I dont plan on doing this to myself again. I hope that someone there realizes that they can create an experience that customers would thoroughly enjoy, especially on vacation, and begin creating that instead of the sad experience that is currently offered.

We were visiting from Iowa. We ate here last night. The food was excellent.... portions were generous for the price. Even though they were short- handed it only took about 15-20 minutes to get our food, which is very reasonable in my opinion. The atmosphere was very relaxes and family friendly. The kids got cute little car boxes they got to take home from their kids meals and theyve been obsessed with them ever since. They have a neat little arcade in the restaraunt which we all enjoyed. And last but not least, our server was working her butt off and did a perfect job!

Latest visit: much happier this time. My family had calzone, chicken strip basket, club sandwich, and super dip. Large portions. The super dip is a French dip with cheese and grilled onions. Wow. Arguably the best Ive ever tasted. Very courteous service. We also shared a strawberry milkshake. Tasted perfect. Mens room was clean. Drawback: no door handle. Grab it by the lock, I guess. Other drawback: Coke products. Ugh. Regardless, we shall return. Were too stuffed to think about more food right now. $45 for 4 of us.

Staff needs to be trained in customer service... not very friendly. Maybe having a bad day because they were short staffed? We were informed that food would take the better part of an hour to get to us. We thought maybe we would just get a milkshake, but even that had a long wait. We decided to skip it and go somewhere else. The restaurant wasnt even crowded. Id hate to see how they handle things when they are actually busy. Hope they hire some help soon.... they were trying, but too much for so few people to handle.

Should have known this was a downhill experience when we pulled into the parking lot and there was a one foot deep two foot wide pothole right in the middle of the parking lot. Was seated immediately, but 15 minutes later we still didnt have the waters we ordered. Fearful of how long it did order would take, and the fact that we had a hungry six year old, we opted to cancel our order and go elsewhere.

Food was good but the male wait person was inconsiderate and gave way too much information about any problems in the kitchen....he made the comment that the cooks were too stressed with orders and then he made comments about the dish I ordered and he would be hamburgered by the cooks if he gave an order for fish andchips. I would eat there again....with a different person taking my order.

We came here for lunch one Saturday afternoon, and just werent impressed. We were one of only four or five groups that day, but our food took about 45 minutes to get to us, with no explanation or apology to why it took so long. The service wasnt great, and the food was pretty average. We will probably not be returning. The venue is fun, or else I would probably give a 1-star rating.

i just went there for lunch i got the at 1140 and ordered at 1145, got my drinks at 1146 but is didnt get my food till 1230 whitch i had to get to go because i was late getting back to work then they F-ed my order up..... i have always loved this place until now i will never go back and I will tell everyone i know the same. sorry guys but you messed up big time

Food was ok, but I was not asked which size of calzone I wanted, and when the waitress brought the bill I had to total cost myself! Now that isnt terrible but she didnt even leave a pen for me to use. I may come back next time Im in Oregon but Im not sure. The thing that saved them from two stars was the malt selection, which was impressive.

Great food and plentiful Id give it 5 stars but gave it 4 they added the tip in to the ticket..Even tho the tip was a good amount for what the whole bill was I think the customer should decide how much the tip should b based on service.. Service was great also and gladly payed what they wanted for the tip

This place is great. Good burgers. Great curly and waffle fries. The normal fries kinda sucked but the other options are choice. Excellent burgers. Very clean and spacious and nice atmosphere. My only regret is not getting our waiters number lol. He was so nice. Ill get him next summer. ;)

Food isnt that good, service is the worst in the history of a restaurant, took 25 minutes to make 2 milkshakes, and they werent even that busy, and not to mention have you seen who is cooking your food. YUK!!! not recommended, there are lots better places to eat in Newport.
