Unfortunately, the restaurant was in the midst of a remodeling effort and it affected our experience. This place is popular - there are about 20 tables and by the time noon arrived, most were filled with college students and the downtown lunch crowd. A negative is that at most restaurants, the lunch buffet includes little labels describing the food. Likely due to the remodel, there were no labels. So I just tried a bit of most every dish. Some highlights: the chicken mahkani was good and there was what I think was a lamb curry that was very tasty, although my wife complained of finding a couple of bones. Something I had never seen was a fried green bean dish cooked with curry and other spices. It was different in a good way - tons of flavor. I also really liked the mango fruit salad - very simply made with apples, bananas and a mango-cream sauce. Surprising to me was that the Rice Kheer (pudding) is served warm - everywhere else Ive tried serves it cold. It was good, but I think I still prefer it cold. The Channa Masala (garbanzo beans with spices) was excellent as well. In short, we liked all of the entrees. One big negative - I think I had the first serving of nan for the day and I hate to say this, but I think it was old and reheated. It was hard and crunchy - the texture was just all wrong. The staff was very friendly, the young man waiting tables was especially helpful. The space itself is long and narrow, so it feels a bit cramped when busy, especially if youre sitting adjacent to where the people waiting in the buffet line are standing. But at $8.99 you get a good value and for $6.99 you can get a buffet box to go. In short, this was a good lunch. Im anxious to return and confirm whether the few negatives we encountered were really just a product of not being on their "A-game" due to the remodel.

First, Ill say to avoid this restaurant on hot days. It has no air conditioning and I, personally, dont enjoy dripping sweat while I eat. I dont just like going to Indian food restaurants, I was (and in some respects, remain) part of a Sikh Indian family from the time I was 19 years old. My ex-mother-in-law made the most divine potato and pea samosas so when I ordered vegetable samosas I was very surprised to find very dark grey to brown insides (the lighting was a bit dim so color was hard to tell...just dark). I can only assume the potatoes had discolored before they processed them into samosas. The taste was okay, but it made for an unappealing appearance. I was also disappointed by the mattar paneer. Indian dishes are almost always a translation of what they contain, so in this case mattar=peas and paneer=cubed soft cheese. Of course, theres a sauce to tie it together. In this case, there were almost no mattars and it was all sauce and a few paneers. I have to give it to the sauce which was spot on for flavor and the garlic naan was excellent, allowing me to salvage a filling meal, but one without one of its main components. Being a vegetarian, I like my veggies and would like to have seen this dish more true to its name. Service was excellent. The place is always packed and generally for good reason - its the only Indian restaurant in Corvallis and their food is usually pretty good. Not the best Indian Ive eaten, but good...worth going to nearly every time Im in Corvallis.

One of the best restaurants in Corvallis. Complementary naan bread, which is more than you can say for the other Indian restaurant in town (Nirvana), and you get some other complementary appetizer too which I dont recall the name of but its tasty. I would highly recommend the lamb makhani (not actually on the menu, you have to request it) and I can rarely bring myself to ever order anything else its so good. Gives you the choice of getting your dish as a meal or a la carte, and personally I always get a la carte since I dont care much for the sauces that come with the meal version, plus you get a little bit more of the main dish when you order a la carte in my experience. You do get a free dessert with the meal version though. If youre there for lunch, they have an amazing lunch buffet albeit a bit expensive. Back in the day their lunch buffet was about $6, now it is close to twice that. If they kept things at the old price this place would definitely get "best ever" status from me, but demand has driven up the prices so the value is only average. Another thing they could do to improve value to best ever status would be to give 1 free refill when you order a mango lassi (a drink) - Its so good you usually finish it by the time your meal gets to the table.

this place is just another example of how hard it is to find food in Oregon with any flavor! back east, when you order curries, some of them make you sweat, while others delicately reveal layer after layer of spices. just as with cajun food that tastes like barbecue, & kung po chicken that tastes like candy at other restaurants, the flavors are so watered down that it doesnt even taste like indian food. im not saying that the food was bad, but i went there ESPECIALLY because i wanted food i could actually taste for once and not one item in their buffet had the rich & spicy, even burning hot flavors you can get back east. if you absolutely have to have food with flavor and cant stand Oregon bland, youll be disappointed. if you dont like spicy foods though and want to PRETEND youve tried curry, youll like their food. if you have to have spicy foods, DONT move to Oregon because the locals force any restaurant that SHOULD have spicy foods to tone it down for their timid sweet tooth taste buds! its not evergreens fault, but ive had REAL indian food that doesnt taste like vegetable soup & sesame chicken.

Absolutely the best Indian food Ive ever had. This place is DELICIOUS. The boyfriend and I are regulars here, and the service is always excellent, the food is fantastic, and the portions are very generous. I love, love, love getting the Thali dinner with a dish. The things the dinner comes with are ALWAYS delicious. It never disappoints. Sometimes I dont know what kind of curry has come with the Thali dinner, and I dont even care because its always yummy. Just talking about this pace makes me hungry. If you love authentic, flavorful, fresh, fantastic Indian food-- youve found it-- and by the heap! My favorite place for Indian EVER!

Indian is one of my favorite styles of food and I have never been disappointed by the food here. Ive eaten at the buffet and ordered from the menu, and everything has been flavorful. My meat eating friends love it, too. Almost everyone I know in town lists Evergreen as one of their favorite restaurants in town - for good reason. In fact the only person I know who doesnt is someone who cant eat many spices - she still likes it, but her selection is limited. My only complaint is that service can take a while, sometimes, so if you want a chai, order it as soon as youre seated. If you lie Indian food, definitely check this place out.
