The owner does not know how to run a restaurant, much less treat customers. Although the food is truly exquisite, any interaction with this obnoxious woman will spoil the aftertaste. If she would like to run a cafeteria-style bistro, then there is a way such a thing works. If she would like to run a formal restaurant, there is a different way that works. Unfortunately, she has chosen an awkward mash-up of the two, and when you the customer commit the inevitable faux pas against her "house rules" which she alone understands and are nowhere posted, she will berate you for your gauche behavior! We were loyal, weekly customers. Unfortunately, that counted for nothing. We chose the "wrong" table on a busy Sunday (in a cafeteria-style bistro where presumably you are left to seat yourself) and she peremptorily moved our things and loudly and publicly informed us of our mistake. It was humiliating. When we later returned (after the rush was long over) to sort out what had happened and what our mistake had been, she raised her voice at us, cut us off mid-sentence and told us to get out of "her house". Her employees -- people we had come to know and like -- stood looking at us horrified and dumb-founded at their employers inexcusable behavior. If you can avoid any and all interaction with this awful woman, the staff will treat you to excellent food and a much better taste of France.

There is no excuse for the unfortunate experience we recently had here. They use a cafeteria style line to serve food and it was staffed by too few people who seemed to be standing around waiting for food from the back while the line grew longer and many gave up and simply left. After a long wait in line, we were served but they were out of silverware so there was a wait for it to be cleaned. The salad was soggy and warm, the sandwich was on bread so hard and stale tasting that I finally gave up trying to eat it. The french onion soup was horrible tasting with no cheese at top. AND, they even charge extra for croutons, shredded cheese for soup and pats of butter!!! The food is way overpriced to begin with even if it were good. And its not! Well never stop in here again!

Always enjoyed to go to La Chatelaine on Lane Ave. But today we happened to be at the High street location for lunch. Overall the quiche, salad and soup was good. However the croissants were dry and overcooked. Even didnt look like normal croissants. But the biggest disappointment was the loaf of Peasant bread that we bought before we left the store. They placed it in the bag and when we opened it at home it was hard as a rock. Probably week old bread. Had to use a heavy duty knife to cut it. A chainsaw would have been the ideal tool to use. It was almost completely dried thru. Only about a 1" diameter sphere at the center of the bread appeared to be edible. That bread should not have been for sale. What a rip-off!!

I like he idea of La Chatelaine, but so far I havent been impressed. The staff is always very friendly and I like the choices of food but every time Ive gone my food has been cold and taken forever to come out. Im pretty convinced they forgot my order last time. It wasnt very crowded that day but it took my food 25 minutes to come out and the person I was dining with got theirs in about 5 minutes. She had finished her entire lunch before mine even arrived. There wasnt any explanation either. I find them really over priced too so when my food was extra late and not overly warm it was disappointing since its easy to spend $10-15 there with a drink and meal and possibly dessert.

We drive to Columbus from Beavercreek 4 days a week for my husbands medical care. We wanted something different because we had a bit of time. Husband is a sensory eater so he has a hard time with a ton of food. This was the best drive by choice ever. We even went after the appt to get food to share with the kids to try for home. Such sweet young ladies working that helped us. Prelunch was quiet but lunch was packed. A bit pricey but incredibly worth it. Will definitely be back to try the dinner menu. Yay, the hubby is into new food

Visited this place with my fiancee when she was in town. We both ordered from the local special menu, her a fruit and pork dish, me the steak. I ordered medium-rare and received well done. On bringing this to the waitresses attention, I received another steak, again well done. Not a single bit of pink was showing in either steak. I dont know how you get to be a chef in a place that sells $22 steaks but still cant cook one medium rare. The pork dish was good, but nothing I couldnt have cooked at home. Ill not be going here again.

Credential: I eat twice weekly at LC2 year round. Property has slipped dramatically. No Jack Daniels despite months of requesting. How do you have a bar w/o JD? May now stock it. Background music often too loud and inappropriate for dining. Seems to be for the pleasure of younger staff. Promised menu changes slow in coming and when they did come lacked taste and signature LC quality. Staff for the most part is competent and friendly but deserves more than ansentee, phone-it-in management.

I loved it, but its expensive. I love it because its different from all the other restaurants around town that all serve exactly the same stuff. Here you have something different and good. Its traditional European, not the modern chic fashionable stuff from the upstart places (think short North and grandview). I suppose the service you get will vary with who you get for a server, but we got lucky and had a very good waiter: knew his stuff, no attitude.

It has great service and food is always hot and always what you order. They are authentic and served my whole French class and there pastrys are good but the service for the pastrys could be better because I asked for a fruit tart and got 2 other things but I didnt call it its true name so probably my fault but service was great and it had an amazing atmosphere and waiters and waitresses are so sweet and understanding

Cafeteria meets gourmet in this top-tier dining experience. Stop in for brunch, grab dessert or bread on the way home after work, or - well, I havent been there for dinner, personally, but Im sure its cozy and relaxing at that time too. The open it up on nice days too, so even if you cant find a place on the patio youll still get fresh air. I highly recommend the brickets and quiches.
