Meh. I was hoping for more since one of my friends raved about this place... but it was just okay. Its a cute little bistro looking place, that seems French-ish and has a cute little cart they roll around that carries all of the wine. Fancy, ingenious little thing there. We ordered the country pate, smoked salmon and escargot to start off. The escargot was too pesto-y for me, they should have cut back on the parsley. The smoked salmon was the best of the appetizers. I wasnt really a fan of the country pate. For the mains, my friend got a duck cassoulet and I got the fish of the day, which was a pan seared whitefish with carrot puree, some greens (maybe kale) and pine nuts. The fish was good... crispy on the outside and very flavorful. The duck wasnt bad either... but it wasnt great. For dessert, we ordered the profiterole--- which was too hard and dry. It should have been softer. BUT it was MASSIVE. The soft ice cream on the inside was delicious, and they drizzled hot chocolate sauce all over it. But still, the hardness of the pastry turned me off from on. The waiter was attentive all throughout--- and after he paid, he said for us to take our time, but then it seemed like we were being shooed out of the restaurant. Weird. Ahh so my search for a great French place in Chicago continues.

While I enjoy the Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, Mon Ami Gabi has probably become my favorite. Honestly their take on a French restaurant has been on my list of places to eat at and Ive only recently had a chance to stop in and enjoy! Growing up my father was always a huge fan of mousses and pate. So when my wife suggested the chicken liver mouse I jumped on it and have to stress that theres no point in ordering any other appetizer. Add on the red wine mustard into the mix and it is truly delicious. (I could probably have a larger order of this as a meal to be honest!) I ended up ordering the steak frites with the brandy peppercorn sauce and she got the Hanger Steak. I couldnt tell you which is better. We also ordered the garlic spinach which had just the right amount of garlic to make it taste great and yet not be overbearing. This is the perfect spot for a date night. If you enjoy comfort French food youll probably want to check out this reasonably priced spot with an intimate atmosphere.

Im only giving three stars because Ive been coming here for years with my mother and its a special place for us, but I have never been more disappointed. I feel bad for the waitress, she was clearly overwhelmed as the place is understaffed, the bartender needed help, and the kitchen... well, I have no clue what they were doing but the food was subpar. Im bummed out because this has been a tradition for us, we come every Mothers Day and bring out of town friends as the staple go-to. The service was so slow, the drinks were clearly rushed and the champagne was flat, an old bottle. They messed up our appetizers, and my salmon dish was dry, the eggs over cooked, I couldnt even finish the dish. At least they still know how to cook a good steak. What happened to our favorite Lincoln Park restaurant :(

I felt like this was a great French dining experience! I had pasted it many times as I walked or ran down my street to get to Lincoln Park zoo. It always looked expensive so never thought to try it. I didnt get a chance to make a reservation, but the outdoor patio seating on the street-level is first-come, first-served. I would suggest making a reservation since they dont have a ton of seating. Both my dining partner & I got one of their steak-frites entrees and it was amazing! Highly recommend and its a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant if you want to rack up some reward points.

This was our anniversary. We came here for brunch. Crying kids, smelled bad, very casual. Felt like a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant that they just try and rush you out. Could not get what we wanted on the menu because it was brunch menu. Really looking forward to the Salad Nicoise, but that wasnt happening. Ordered steak and fries, the steak was cold and the fries were cold and overdone. They replaced the fries and they were fine. Had crab cakes Benedict which was good. Our server Jane was delightful. Did not feel like this was a French restaurant in any way, shape, or form.

Overpriced for food quality, which frankly was terrible. I had the ahi tuna, and it was presented with 25% pink / well done (wasnt asked for preference) - the fish was ruined and fell apart because the fatty tissue had disintegrated. This was the special of the day, and their menu features poisson (fish). That is inexcusable. Others in party were not impressed either - steaks and chicken were ordered. Nice atmosphere, and bustling, but if you go, keep it very simple (and cheap) - the Belgian style fries are good...

Such a shame this place went down in quality. The scallops were the small cheap kind. Their pâté was overly hard. The bread was overly toasted. Even the pork wasnt made with enough butter. Really a shame. We had a really aggressive waiter who never introduced himself and repeatedly tried to awkwardly shove a wine menu in our faces and take our wine orders. Then he poured additional glasses of wine without our agreeing to it first. At least the wine was quite good!

this place is great! I highly recommend it. The food was obviously outstanding. I recommend the scallops for an appetizer. The location and atmosphere of the restaurant is great. It was very nice but also comfortable. What I loved most, though, was the outstanding service. The waiter was extremely friendly and genuine and really gave us a great experience. Definitely check this place out! Also, forgot to mention, they are very reasonably priced!

Mon Ami Gabi offers affordable and comfort french cuisine. Has become one of our regularly visited restaurant for conveniently located in Oakbrook shopping center (my favoriate shopping mall in Chicago area/MIdwest overall!) Really love their Escorgot (snails), no complaints and super delicious! Not a big fan of their famous onion soup as it was a little too salty to my tasting bud. Good selection for the steaks if you are meat lover!

Great place to have a romantic dinner with your mate but I have to say with all the hype the place failed to provide a great meal, I had the steak and it was average at best flavor wise and it was over cooked. We also had the cheesecake and it wasnt anything to write home about either. But at the end of the day me and the with enjoyed ourselves because of the atmosphere and romantic vibe

We went here for steak, as it was close to where we were staying. The drinks are strong, and the food is pretty good. Its not *really* worth the high price, but you get fancy waiters and nice atmosphere. We ate on the patio area, and you get a nice view of the trees and park. However, I got food poisoning from the bernaise sauce, so, Id recommend you stay away from the sauces.

The place is nice and so is the service but the food is disappointing. Worst fries ever, I was really surprised, they are cold and so dry like cardboard chips, the steak was okay. The fish was overcooked. Goat cheesecake was good though. I was expecting better quality and better presentation for that price. Si vous êtes français ny aller pas.
