Hotel Metros breakfast used to be one of my favorite places in Milwaukee. The decor was classy and comfortable and the menu had so many delicious options. Once the restaurant turned into the Pastiche, I was excited to try out the new menu. Walking in, the whole decor looked shabby, the comfortable seating was gone, and everything looked darker and old. I used to love the big cups of coffee they used to serve but now it was a tiny French serving with maybe 4 or 5 sips of coffee. The menu had very few options but I decided to try the brie omelette (which doesnt come with breakfast potatoes). It was extremely thin, oily, and burned on the edges. There was no flavor. A side of fruit was served and it was a fruit cup of pre-chopped fruits that you apparently eat with a spoon...not very appetizing for breakfast and really strange. I felt like I was ordering off of the senior menu. Im very disappointed in the Pastiche and now have one less place to go to breakfast in Milwaukee.

I was here the other night with a large group. I ordered the swordfish (with crab) special; it came with asparagus and red-wine risotto. Everything about my dish was absolutely perfect The fish was cooked properly with a wonderful grilled taste, topped with a delicious aioli sauce. And the risotto was to die for. Everyone elses dish at the table was really good as well; tons of praise from everyone around the table. The waiter that served us was fantastic - friendly, detail-oriented, and timely. My wife found frog legs on the menu as an appetizer- she asked if they could make a main dish out of it which they did happily. For dessert I ordered the creme brulee which was also fantastic. If you are going out for dinner downtown and want a taste treat with great service to back it up, I would head here as an option. We will definitely be coming back.
