It is hard to give a fair review of this place. First, the staff is always very nice and always has been under the various management. However, the quality of the food will give you whiplash month to month especially since the prices are a bit steep. I used to get breakfast there every morning: delicious blueberry muffins with the crumbly stuff on top, large homemade biscuits with sausage and fresh quiches. I often had lunch here. The soups were a delicious warm-me-up in the winter. The sandwiches and flatbreads were made with fresh artisan bread that made it worth paying a little extra. Now I dread the fact that there is no where else to grab a decent breakfast. The biscuits are store-bought tiny discs, smaller and less appetizing than the ones served at McDonalds with sausage patties that have hardened to hockey pucks. Recently, I ordered a blueberry muffin and got a slightly burnt BRAN MUFFIN with blueberries in it...literally. At this point I would rather eat gas station sandwiches. This place waffles back and forth between whether they want to provide a high quality product at a higher price or a low quality product at the same high price. Since it is the only cafe near by, theyve opted for the latter and betting on convenience of location trumping subpar sustenance. If you have transportation, you have better options until this place decides to go back to using quality ingredients in their food.

Heres the thing: the food is stellar. Just delicious. But 30+ minutes to make a sandwich, even when theyre not particularly busy, is not good. I really wish I could give this place a higher rating. The service is friendly (if slow), and the food really is great. If you have plenty of time, get the Gobble Gobble. Its an excellent sandwich.

The food - to die for. I literally moaned out loud at the first bite of scallop. The service - impeccable. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without being overbearing. The decor - lovely, especially for the holidays. Why did I wait so long to come?
