So, the food is pretty good. Nothing special, but good. The waitstaff is nice. The place is going down hill though. If you are open at lunch, you need to count on getting people in and out in about 30 minutes. So here are some things I have observed the last few times Ive been there. Average time from getting seated to leaving is 45 minutes. This most recent time, I was seated at 11:50 and left with a to-go box at 12:40, having not eaten my food yet. I was seated, and I had 2 other joining me. The waitress came over and asked what Id like to drink, and I ordered for myself and the 2 others. The 2 others joined me and were seated for 10 minutes before we even got our drinks. When the waitress brought the drinks, we went ahead and ordered our food. I ordered the Popcorn Chicken special (Which is very good) and a side of Ranch for the chicken. I also like to dip my fries in the ranch, but I digress. The waitress proceeded to take the orders of 4 other tables seated more recently than us. She should have put our order right away in and then taken the other orders to cut down on each tables wait time, and to not over load the kitchen with 4 orders at a time. Thats 4 orders from her section alone. No wonder the kitchen is slow. So...its a good 25 or 30 minutes before we get our food. A Popcorn Chicken special, a salad, and a flounder plate. Not terribly complicated. Anyway, she sets the food down and asks if we need anything else. I politely reminded her of the Ranch. She nodded and said she would bring it right out. I waited to eat until I had my ranch. Im a southern girl, fried food gets dipped in ranch. I cant eat until I have some ranch dressing! Anyway.....I wait and wait and finally I wave down the waitress and remind her again of the ranch. By the time I got the ranch, Id been there for 45 minutes. My lunch break is only 30 minutes. No one is really very strict about it, but I dont want to abuse their leniency. 45 minutes to an hour is too long to take for lunch. So, upon getting the ranch, I simply asked for a to-go box for my food so I could take it back to the office and eat it there. The 2 people I was with had already finished eating and I didnt have the time or inclination to sit there and eat my food alone. Its a shame, really because I like the food, and they have great specials. I just cant spend that long to eat lunch. I say this to the Mayflower III in Madison NC....speed it up at lunch, and Ill give you some stars back.

Humiliating! We go in, 2:45pm, 15 min. before the lunch special ends, and are ignored for 10 mins. while a tall blonde lady gives an occasional glance, then we are taken to a table, asked for our order, we ask for the lunch special, and told it may be too late, the waitress goes to check w/the tall blonde woman, who gives us a negative glance, speaks to the waitress, and we are told it is definitely TOO Late for the lunch offer. We check our cell phones, 3 mins. to go before 3 p.m., show it to the waitress, who apologizes and says she has to follow the managers decision. We got up from our table, telling the waitress to please relay the message to her arrogant manager, that our regular business in "this" restaurant has just ended, and we WILL be sure to alert all other would-be and current patrons, how you and your money, can suddenly become "Not Good Enough" at the Mayflower Seafood in Madison, North Carolina. THANKS!

Liked the open airy environment, but went there to eat and thats where the problems began. Clam strips were undercooked, crab cakes were reminiscent of a dollar store deal and alfredo lacked flavor. The staffs manager has no people skills, so if you have a problem-good luck dealing with it. On the issue of undercooked salmon I was met with remarks like, "Well I dont know where You People are used to getting seafood"....hmm, try my partner out, over 10 years managing a yacht club restaurant on the water. It wouldnt be so bad if they just tried to be nice, but if you deal with the tall old skinny blonde manager, the customer is always wrong!

Everything is fried. Dont get me wrong like any southern woman I love my fried food but whoever created the menu went too far. I wish they offered more grilled fish options or baked. The fried pickles were really good on another note. The waitress we had was sweet, we could tell she was busy so we didnt mind having to wait. The host or the cashier woman was a little more on the rude side.

Shortened portions of food. Paid for spaghetti that was finished in 4 bites (cost around 6.50). Refused any customer service by manager and owner before food was eaten. Will never go back. Already missing the old Mayflower when you bought spaghetti and it was a plate full. Do not recommend going at all to anyone!

The food depending on whos cooking is edible.Sundays are better the portions have gotten smaller likely because Libby Hill has closed its location in Madison so they dont have any competition to weigh themselves against.Bigger portions for the money would be great the only reason for 3 $tars from me

The food is okay They do have daily specials but the portions are like a childs plate and Senior Citizens which is okay if youre not hungry but they need to improve on the portions and some of their prices especially on tea and soft drinks

Placed takeout order and then drove all the way there for them to tell me they didnt have what I ordered. Dining experience inside is not that good either. They keep reducing and reducing portion size.

Hope you dont get a hair in your food when you are almost finished it. You will get charged for the baked potato and salad you have already eaten.

Good Carolina style seafood. Reminds me of the seafood restaurants I would go to as a kid. If you are in Madison, you should check it out.
