Out of state travelers beware! While this may be the best seafood in the area it is a shame how they take advantage of their residents. We should have walked out when our Cajun barbeque shrimp arrived as 5 shrimp covered in a gloopy slightly spiced barbeque sauce. Cajun barbeque shrimp is supposed to be in a garlic Worcestershire butter sauce that you should be dying to mop up with bread. Crab cakes were prefried and barely warmed on the flattop. Blue crab bisque had huge chucks of fake Krab as filler. They ruined that piece of halibut on the royale by first pan frying til cooked through and then broiling the nasty glop on top. Respect your fish. Fries were shriveled up cold and unseasoned. They cant even make their own tartar sauce. Only thing they didnt do wrong was my walleye filet. It was senior night and they should be looked into for elder abuse. Shawn the executive chef you should be embarrassed. Have some pride in your craft instead of your pocketbook.

My husband and I visited the sushi bar on Friday night. We had a couple drinks and several rolls between us. The food was very good, but our favorite part was having a conversation with the chefs. They were all very kind and took time to answer my questions of curiosity when it came to prepping and making the food. At one point the sous chef came out and was talking with the sushi chefs. He had mentioned that he had been off for awhile, but he seemed to be enjoying watching over the sushi area. We asked if he would make us his favorite roll. This ended up being the girlfriend roll. It turned out both beautiful and delicious. We appreciate that he took his time to make sure that it looked nice. This may not be something that everyone would appreciate; however, we thought it was wonderful that he took time out of his night to make something special for us. Thanks guys!

I really want to give details for improvement, because we were recommended by a clerk at the Duluth Trading Co. Store. First of all there was an outside waiting area that was messy with trash and cluttered. Not inviting. It smelled like bleach and raw fish as we entered. The restaurant was dated and needed some decorating help. The bread was underbaked and crushed when sliced instead of sawed through. We had to return the simple order of clamstrips w/sweet potato fries because they were hard/overcooked. Tiny crumbs and pieces, less than 1/2 inch. No real clam strips. The other meal had an overcooked baked potato. The shrimp itself was good, but the shrimp breading, although it was lovely looking, had a strange smoky taste. The scallops were good. The bathroom floor was sticky.

Unfortunately, I couldnt speak to the quality of the food. The one time we decided to stop in and try the Waterfront, we were greeted by someone that didnt appear to be very sure of himself. Once we were seated, the table we were at was placed in an odd area, where we were half in and half out of the dining area. We asked a server if we could be reseated only to get an angry response of "Fine, sit anywhere you want!" I tried to shrug it off, but I couldnt imagine letting someone whose first interaction with me was so gruff and rude serve me. We left without ordering.

Been here twice now and service was terrible both times. The food isnt that great, pretty average even by Iowa seafood standards. Had the salmon with dill sauce and wasnt impressed. Dill sauce had a weird taste and the salmon was overcooked and dry. Wait staff was terrible. Our waitress only came by once after we ordered, never talked to us and didnt offer to refill our drinks. The whole staff acted like they didnt care. Only highlight was their clam chowder which came highly recommended and it really was good. Other than that I wasnt impressed.

Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐ My waitress seemed like she just got off a shift at Dennys. She removed plates before we were down and without asking. Or she would completely ignore us and walk by us as if we were eating for free. I had the Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Dragon and Rainbow for rolls along with salmon and eel nigiri, 2 cups of gumbo and crab cakes. Granted the service shouldnt have been merited strictly on what I ordered. I have been to the Des Moines location and have never been treated so poorly.

Especially since we had lots of kids. VERY KID FRIENDLY . THANKS AGAIN FOR GOING ABOVE N BEYOUND ESP OUR SERVER.

Disappointing. Our server didnt seems to care about us at all. She was confused and annoyed by all of our questions about dishes. The steamed vegis we ordered were just green beans. My grandmothers blackened salmon was as thick as my thumb and no longer than my fork. My catfish was mushy, the portions were too small. Our tea was water with food coloring. Everyone else seems to have a great experience here so Im sad mine was so disappointing.

Not good when the highlight of the meal was the coleslaw. Ordered the walleye special prepared all three ways. Fish portions were small for 17.95 price. Average fish, could have prepared it better at home. Sides were below average. Waitress was indifferent at best. Had better service at many chains. To sum it up. Way overpriced, poor service. will not return. Splash is way better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food was pretty good but I dont regularly eat seafood, so take that for what its worth. The atmosphere didnt really match the prices. Had a chain like feel to it. Server was ok but expected maybe a little more professional service for price of the meal, especially since it isnt a chain. In the end is was good but not great. I would have no problem going back but likely only for special occasions.

The food here has been fairly good, not fantastic but I dont know of a better dish specific place in the area. Last time we were there we were offered a sling for the carseat for our 2 week old but I had to hunt down a booster seat for my 2 year old as it was never asked of us. Alcoholic drinks seem a bit overpriced for the amount you get. It is our go to for seafood locally.

Food was absolutely disgusting. My salmon was very dry and the green beans tasted like plato. I liked the fact that my waitress took a 45 minute break to suck down some cigarettes.Dont even get me started on the price. Ok, I understand that Ankeny only has two places that offer sushi but come on! Seriously 15 dollars for a roll? This is outrageous!

Have heard good things. I ordered sushi but was not impressed. The group I was with had 9 people, so I expect service to be slow but it was slower then expected. Our group got food 3 people at a time. By the time the next food came out the first people were done eating. I would try again as a smaller group and not order the sushi.
