My husband and I went to Roza Mayflower Seafood Restaurant last night! I was so excited because we just moved back to Greensboro and I used to go there all the time when I was in college at A&T! So, I noticed that it was empty for a Friday night but we went on in. Service was ok until our food came out. I asked the waitress about the veins in the shrimp and why are the plates so small. I had a handful of shrimp and my flounder was a baby flounder. We were laughing because it looked like we ordered kid meals. She said she would go get the manager. The manager came out and I asked him about the nasty looking shrimp and the portion size to see if it was right. He immediately got defensive and was extremely rude. He told me that is all the food you will get tonight, tomorrow or next week and if I dont like how the food looks, leave now! I was so shocked! So as I proceeded to get up from the table, he kept saying things like, "Dont ever come back! You not wanted here, you people are not welcome here anyway! We are African American and my husband did not say anything until he started provoking me with those nasty phrases and standing there as if he was gonna hit me. When my husband stated to him not to talk to my wife like that, the manager then says, "What you gonna do, you want to hit me?" Being that I know my husband, I knew it was about to be a mess so I quickly took my husbands hand and said dont look back, lets just leave. We are educated with good jobs and I have no time for the police to have to come behind some ignorant manager and perhaps our careers be in question, when all we was trying to do is enjoy a good meal! I do plan on going to the news channel with this and calling the NAACP and asking if there is anyway we can get this establishment called out for the managers racial remarks. If you are African American, you are not wanted at Roza Mayflower Seafood Restaurant on Randleman Road to dine! If you talk to your customers that way, what is he saying to his staff that is African American! The manager wants your money, but doesnt care for as a person at all. The funny thing is, when I looked around, that was the majority of the people that was in there! What a horrible experience and I will never return to that establishment!

Mayflower has decent affordable fish and chips in this area Once I entered the establishment I was instantly greate by a hostess with a welcoming smile. We were seated in a cozy corner booth. After only a few seconds our waitress arrived who appeared also to be very friendly and courteous. She introduced herself and swiftly got our drink orders and returned with a basket of hushpuppies that were hot and delicious. Once she returned with our drinks she asked if we were ready to order. She was very knowledgable about which selections were in season and was very discriptive on the taste and texture of all the items I inquired about prior to placing my order. These tools made it very convienant to make a selection and I instantly placed the orders. I decided to go with the flounder and oysters with a baked potato and for my son I ordered chicken nuggets with french fries I substituted green beans for the applesauce that came automatically with his kids meal he is not a fan of applesauce. Our food arrived about 15 minutes later. The overall apperance of the food was acceptable all of the fried selections were covered with golden brown crusts.I initially examined my sons plate I was pleased to find his fries were fresh and hot,the nuggets on the other hand were rock hard and his green beans were not warm at all and tasted to be out of the can.Moving on to my entree the flounder was very light in texture and tasted very fresh but the oysters were very miniture as if the cook took 2 whole oysters and cut them into pieces my baked potato was very small but tasted fine. Our waitress was very attentive she checked on us very frequently.Once I asked for the check I noticed I was charged $1.79 extra for the substitution I made even though I explained that my son does not eat applesauce. However I did not protest the additional fee.Do to our waitresses sweet nature and dedication. My overall experience was enjoyable I would return to Mayflower in the future but I would probally avoid ordering the oysters as well as the nuggets.

Its a shame. I remember going to mayflower as a kid and waiting what seamed to be endless hours to eat there. But now only a forth of the restaurant is filled on a good day. The service is maybe a 2.5 out of 5. The portions have shrunken drastically compared to how it used to overflow of the plate. I knew a long time ago the place was going downhill since they changed management a few years back, but it was still tolerable. THAT IS UNTIL TODAY. Tuesday is usually the Fried Shrimp Special. So my family and I ordered 4 plates of the special to bring home. First when we got to the takeout section of the store our food was put in boxes. The waitress showed me the food within the boxes and it looked as though there was only a Cup worth of shrimp. EVEN A SMALLER PORTION THAN USUAL. Then when the food rang up the price was abnormally high. Turns out they charge $.25 per box for takeout. ...What? So what should I do bring my own plate next time to avoid the charge? How do you charge a box for takeout? So once I brought the food home it tasted horrible. As if it was reheated and precooked. It was tough and absolutely not fresh at all. The sour cream for our baked potatoes was frozen and the hush puppies were greasy. Never again.

Im new to Greensboro (been here 3 months). Ive placed a few orders with Mayflower before. The first time I placed an order, I was told someone would be calling me back to "verify" my phone number. After waiting literally 10 minutes I had to call back to check on what was going on with my order. Tonight, I called at 830pm to place an order. On the website I see NOTHING about needing to place orders before 830 (they close at 9!!!). The first girl who told me they wouldnt take my order was VERY rude. I called back to speak to a manager. I asked about that "rule". She said you have to physically walk in by 830 with a receipt to recieve food. I was very angry, because just 2 weeks before, I placed an order around 935-940 (they closed at 10), and was asked to be there before 10. I distinctly remember because I got lost and was worried about not getting there on time. The attitude and disrespect is EXACTLY the reason why I WILL NOT be eating at Mayflower again. Thats crazy!!!!! I dont what whatever happened to the customer is always right, it was THIRTY minutes before they closed....

While in Greensboro on business, I was in the mood for some good fried catfish. I tried this place and ordered the fried jumbo shrimp and fried fillet catfish. The shrimp was flavorless and appears to be one of those ready to cook shrimp from the grocery store.... bad. The two catfish fillet served to me were both very fishy. When I told the waitress how the catfish tasted, she told that she had catfish for lunch that day and it was good. Oh, my mistake, I guess being raised in Louisiana did not teach me anything about what fresh seafood is supposed to taste. Another lady who I would assume to be the manager spoke to me, but she did not present anything to cure my disappoinments. I did not mind paying the full price, but she could have a least offered to discount my meal. Its a shame that this place calls itself a "Seafood Restaurant". I can expect bad seafood from a hamburger restaurant, but McDonalds fillet of fish is a 100% improvement from this place. Oh, they had the worst fried okra ever. Dont waste you money......
