I was visiting from Raleigh and heard great things about this restaurant from family. We actually all decided to eat here on 4th of July since it was one of the few restaurants open during the holiday. So with hearing good things along with being hungry, I was certainly looking forward to the meal. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess at the door. Since it was me and my boyfriends first time, she graciously explained to us how everything worked at Vapianos. Soon after, we walked in and was pretty impressed by the ambiance of the atmosphere, very feng shui. We decided where we wanted to sit and now it was time to order!... As I approached the chef to order my pasta, I was not greeted in anyway. He simply blurted out a robotic, "I can take an order". I said, "okay...". I dont think he looked up at me once. Or even cracked a smile. His face clearly spewed out he wasnt happy being there. That made me totally uncomfortable so I rushed to get my order completed. Honestly, I didnt even order my pasta the way I wanted because I just wanted to get out of that circle of doom and gloom. I got my food and thought it was okay. Of course, I wasnt a 100% pleased but it wasnt anything to complain about. After everyone was finished eating and getting ready to go, a young man approached our table and started to clean up our dishes. However, he also was not happy about doing it. Though we all were trying to gather the dishes in attempt to help him, he was not pleasant at all. He actually had an attitude. I told him thank you (for taking my plate) but he absolutely ignored me. He started grabbing everything in a haste and then unprofessionally started talking to another co-worker who was cross from our table. Apparently his co-worker was getting off of work and he started complaining to him saying.."why are we here?" The conversation went on about how its 4th of July and they dont understand why the manager still have them there. He even tried to entertain the conversation among my family and I. I tell you, its probably one of the worse experiences Ive had at a restaurant. Aside from the hostess, all the other employees were very unpleasant. The experience would have been great if it wasnt for these one or two things that happened. I was absolutely appalled especially how the young man came to our table to simply complain. Trust me, I will not be returning and definitely will be spreading the word about this.

The location is very convenient and has good parking options nearby, and the restaurant is close to the EpiCenter. The system at Vapiano is quite different from any other restaurant. The lines were long (on a Saturday night) and it took a long time to wait in line, order the food, and then get the food. I was there with a group of friends for a birthday, and we never managed to sit at the table at the same time because somebody was still waiting to order their food or get their food. The food was alright, but given the inconvenience of their concept, it was definitely not worth the price. As for beverages, nobody knew where to find a glass to get a drink at the self service station, which is unfortunate. As for the alcoholic drinks, they were alright, but overpriced in my opinion. Since I came with a group of friends, we all had a hard time not mixing up our cards. Most of us didnt put our cards away, so they were on the table, which is clearly a recipe for disaster, especially when alcohol comes into play. The cards look all the same and there is no way to distinguish them in case a mix up happens, which can easily occur after a few drinks. In a friendly and kind manner I suggested to the hostess up front, where you pay for what is on your Vapiano card to either have cards in different colors, or to write the first name in erasable sharpie on the card. The hostess gave me a nasty attitude and said that youre supposed to keep the card to yourself. From an employee standpoint I understand that and it makes perfect sense and I agree with her; however, from a customer standpoint, it would be better to have some sort of distinguishable features on the card so that if a mix up occurs, it is easy to solve it, or contain it. I was really disappointed by the attitude of the hostess, which made the overall experience bad for me, so I wont be coming back there. She couldve simply acknowledged my feedback in a friendly manner. If she wouldve chosen not to bring the feedback up to the owner or manager, that is fine, but you still have to be kind to customers. If you dont want to be, you shouldnt be working there.

Second try sealed their fate...raw garlic on a BBQ chicken pizza with the chill knocked off of the gouda. Guy that took our order was rude, then did the eye roll with I asked for a clean glass (obvious green/black chuck of stuff on the inside of the glass...eye roll was so obvious and exaggerated, I checked the glass again thinking I was just seeing things- nope still there, just like his attitude. First, going out is expensive so I try to use care as to where money is spend. If I choose to spend my time and money somewhere, then there should be a fair exchange - not rude service and poorly prepared food. Second, my party went in early before the lunch crowd - so the excuse of being "in the weeds" is out. Do yourself a favor and only spend your money and time here as a last resort, since you will not get either back and it will have been wasted.

Just awful. Looked like it could be a good place but it wasnt. The music was so loud, that in order to hear or say anything, you had to lean in and yell and hope they heard what you said. Not a very good place for a group activity. You have to fend off people for your chairs and tables, causing everyone to eat at a different time to make sure you still have a table and chairs. Also didnt didnt know how to order. Very frustrating. Sat at the table for 10 or so minutes before going to ask someone. I got chicken alfredo(basic I know) and it was seriously some of the worst I have ever had. No seasoning. Noodles werent drained so the pasta was watered down. Chicken was gross. No other word for it. Brother that went with me said the canzones were good but I didnt have any. Never go here unless you wanna be deaf and sub par food.

The concept of Vapiano is great. Cafeteria style dying in a trendy atmosphere that youd actually like to hang out it. The offerings are pretty diverse and the prices very reasonable so there should be something here for everyone. The place makes you feel a little fancy without actually being that fancy. The food is on average good, but quality seems to vary from dish to dish. Pastas seem to be in general overcooked likely because they arent made fresh on the spot, but reheated to save time. The flavors of the pasta are good, but a lackluster noodle takes the fun out of a dish. The pizzas seem to be a different story as they are fresh, crispy and bursting with flavor.
