It was sad to patronize a favorite restaurant of mine with our of town friends and be so sadly disappointed. I have been a guest of the restaurant since the first year it opened. I bragged about the authenticity and the way yall make everyone feel like family. Well, ..... not so much anymore. Our greeting was above and beyond. The Hostess was not only beautiful but had a magnificent personality and a smile to match. When we were seated in the bar area our bench seemed to be broken but when my guest sat on the other side it balanced so it didnt tip me over. Our server was sweet and fun but seemed like she was distracted from us. Although we really didnt need for much she was helpful when we did. She definitely wasnt with us in the same restaurant the whole time. . But she served our food and drink. The food is where I start to wonder if things have taken a serious turn for Bucca.. First off we were 3 hungry guys that ordered the large lasagna that should have served 3-5 it stated. I could have eaten the served portion myself. We were all still hungry after we ate what was burnt top lasagna. I like it a little crispy yes but, .... come on. I really didnt say much as my friends were embarrased for me. But, I did ask the waitress if we received the large lasagna as it appeared to be just enough for this N.Y. Italian man to eat himself. She replied yes and that other customers have commented on the smaller, large portion sizes as well. Oh well, I understand portion control and get the economics of PNL.. The quality of the food did not exceed the quality of service & the quality of service did not exceed the hostess getting us. It was a rainy muggy sticky night in Charlotte and it was even HOT and SWEATY during our meal that the waitress said she had the A/C on 74° which my house is kept at 68° but thats just me. I think a restaurant at the end of May on a sticky, rainy, humid night in Charlotte should have it a bit more comfortable so the customers dont have to leave to go over to Olive Garden for coffee and dessert since it was very warm to even think about coffee in Bucca. I know people ALWAYS forget to review all the good that an establishment does and just post negatives. Im sad about my visit because, this was A GREAT, FUN, HIGH ENERGY, AND MY FAVORITE ITALIAN SPOT IN SOUTH CHARLOTTE WITH AMAZING TASTING FOOD THAT REMINDED ME OF HOME. I WOULD LOVE TO REVISIT THAT PLACE AGAIN. There is my positive review from the past visits. Get it together guys, this was and still can be a GREAT ITALIAN EXPERIENCE. .

Buca di Beppo is always very busy, which means that theyre definitely doing something right. I have never been disappointed here and I visit as often as possible due to the delicious food and unique decor. However, last night a group of friends and I attended Buca for a birthday party and were subjected to the worst service Ive ever experienced. Our waitress was sure to let us know that it was her first week, but the mistakes that were made during our visit were far beyond first week mistakes. We were rudely interrupted and rushed, being told "Hurry up and order, there are other people waiting for this table." She interrupted our conversation with, "Were not talking about that, lets talk about food. What do you want to order?" and "I can come back when you know. Ive got other tables that ARE ready to order." When we finally were able to get her to stand there long enough to order our food, our orders were wrong, our waitress was flighty and would walk away mid-sentence to check on other tables, and when a water glass was spilled in my lap and all over my table, the waitress used the bread basket to clean it up and then walked away without returning to wipe up my chair, the floor or the rest of my table. Instead, I had to use three napkins and my sweater to wipe up the mess. With the floor soaking wet, the bottoms of my pants were soaked and the manager was the only one with the sense to take care of it. To add to our waitress woes, she cleared our table before we were finished eating while two of us were in the bathroom. One of my friends had taken three bites before her plate was taken and continued to eat from her to go box at the table. Buca, its not a good idea to give your new waitresses so many tables during the dinner rush. It was obvious that this particular waitress was unable to handle the stress. I am thankful that this was not my first visit to this restaurant and that I know that its typically not like this. However, had I been a first time guest and this was the service I received, I would not be returning.

So this past Friday I held a birthday dinner for my mother here. I chose this place because I had quite a nice time when my company held the holiday party here. Things quickly got off to a bad start. I reserved the Pope Room 2 weeks in advance, called twice and also drove to the restaurant twice within that two weeks, yet when we arrived we were seated at two tables elsewhere. Initially I reserved for a party of 10. After learning my mother wanted her coworkers to be in attendance I called back to reserve for "up to 18." I told our server the seating mix up and she went to get a manager, who came back basically to tell me I was a liar. I tried to explain I made the reservation 2 weeks ago and I came back the day before to pay in advance (at which point the manager I then spoke with told me that wouldnt be necessary b/c unless theyd hold card info they dont do advance payment), but before I could finish she smirked & replied "No you didnt because we dont accept advance payment." This did not go over well with me, or the party she said this in front of. I told her do not cut me off and she put her hand on me. I yelled dont touch me & tried to finish what I was sayin but she cut me off AGAIN and went to get Eric (the manager I spoke with about menu options the day before). He explained that once I said our party could have reached 18 people, the option for the Pope Room automatically is removed in their system. The staff would not know I had once asked for that room. If it was not for Eric and the servers we had Id give this place 1 star and a BBB complaint because that woman who came out arrived with nothing but conflict in mind. That was a great showcase of poor management; Eric shouldnt be there doing damage control for another managers behavior. The servers were tipped handsomely for their awesome service & upbeat personalities, although they were quite timid after the explosion between guest and management. However, I will NEVER return to this place.

Do not eat at this place because the food is just okay and the service is horrible. I planned a Thanks Giving dinner here for my Mom and I. She is in town from Boston and I wanted her to have a no worries dinner with no clean up. I made reservations for 6:45 pm a week in advance. I called the day before and confirmed my reservations and asked should I order my food in advance and the lady told me that would not be necessary. I said thanks and looked forward to a nice turkey feast for two with Mom. We went shopping at the mall and worked up a good appetite for our feast. When I arrived we were seated and the first thing the waitress said was they were out of turkey and pumpkin pie. I said excuse me, I have reservations and I was told yesterday I did not need to order in advance. She said she was sorry but all day people were ordering turkey and they did not plan for so many people to order turkey. I said really on Thanks Giving you did not think people who made reservations would order turkey! Really! Now I am starting to get frustrated because of the weak excuse for ruining my 2016 Thanks Giving dinner. Long story short, one of the mangers came out and said they had turkey but no pie and the waitress misunderstood what he told her. I say "BS" they tried to screw me and when I was upset they did not want a scene and coughed up my turkey. As I left 90 minutes later I showed my Mom the kitchen and guess what there was a big platter of turkey on the counter. Please steer clear of this horrible customer service and shady business. By the way, there was no compensation for the confusion. Need I say more??
