Zio is one of the [sort of] hidden gems in Charlottes restaurant scene. If more people knew about it, the line would be out the door and into the parking lot nightly. The food quality is excellent - fresh tasting, well seasoned and expertly cooked. I have received a few things that werent perfectly cooked, but only on the most crazy-busy nights Ive seen there in the past few years. Their wood-oven pizzas are really excellent, with delicious ingredients and some of the best crust Ive ever had. If you have an opportunity to try out a special or app that features fresh veggies from their garden, do! You wont be disappointed, and youll think youve found the holy grail if youre primarily accustomed to grocery store veggies! The outdoor seating is great - especially the area that leads back to their garden. My two recommendations for Zio are that they update the interior and improve the quality of their menu. Close off one area at a time and do some renovations - the interior just doesnt come up to the quality of the food. The menu features are excellent - dont change that - just change to a format and style that is more contemporary and higher quality. The current menus look like they are from a dated family-style restaurant, and that just doesnt fit your quality!

Fun, delicious and enjoyable. Zio is an excellent place for casual Italian dining in Charlotte. Our meals were very good, priced well and plenty of it. It is like a an older restaurant where all the usuals show up for the daily specials. We had the Chicken Maria, Baked Rigatoni and Ziti with Bolognese sauce. They will adjust the menu to meet your requests. The fresh baked bread and marinara sauce served with it was great. I would have liked the sauce more if it was warmer. The wait staff was great and they all helped each other. The chefs were fun to watch and listen too. (Yes, we can hear you in the restaurant, and I agree, the GI Joe movie was not very good.) The wine list was OK but a little pricey for a casual place. I only hope that the snobs of Charlotte dont find out about Zio, I liked being able to get a table without a wait. We will be back often.

I have been to Zio several times and have actually taken my office there for Christmas Dinner the past few years. Typically I have done this because of fair price and great food. This past weekend, I took my parents, wife and 18 month old son there for similar reasons, but this time I was blown away by the service. As my son started to get restless and fussy, one of the owners Terri came by and offered to give him a tour of the restaurant so we could enjoy our meal. This meant so much to all of us and we will never forget the experience. Thank you very much Terri, Zio, and all the staff there.

Had the angel hair and meatballs. Honestly probably the best meatballs Ive ever had. The angel hair pasta is made the restaurant. Very good as well. Plenty of pasta sauce, really quick service (the food arrived within five minutes of ordering), server was helpful and attentive. Its a cozy restaurant. The seating the area we were in was fairly close together, but the soft lighting, and the décor made it feel kind of homey and not at all cramped. One of the better Italian restaurants Ive been to.

This is one of my favorite intimate Italian places to dine in Charlotte, NC. Zio has the the BEST homemade pasta. If you have never had homemade pasta, you must come to Zio and taste the true difference. I have never had a bad experience here and plan to enjoy this place for years to come. Zio is also a GREAT valve for having such high quality offerings. I am a Charlotte native and I hope the transplants dont find out about this great little place!

I work at Zio. I am the Gardner. I love this family restaurant and the attention to detail from the kitchen, As our garden grows and develops, we look forward to serving you the most interesting, healthy garnish for your plate, seasonal vegetable side dishes and fresh year-round herbs used in preparing your meal. Jim and Teri are wonderful to work for and that says a lot about a business!

Service was terrible. Food was subpar. Half the items listed on the menu were not available. This restaurant was recommended to us and turned out to be a huge let down. It seems to me that if you arent a regular you arent treated with the same level of service. Disappointing.

This is like visiting a favorite Italian Restaurant in Binghamton/ Endicott area. We grew up eating at Consoles Kitchen. You need to add Spiedies to the Menu again.

Tucked away Italian place with casual food. Great wine selection. Gave four stars because of a bathroom issue they had on the night that I was there.

My wife and I absolutely love this place. Pasta is great. Hot pies are awesome. Veggies are fresh (and grown on site). And it isnt too expensive.
