This is by far the best Mexican food Ive had here in Charlotte! Everything about my experience stood out as above par: the food was excellent, the atmosphere was wonderful , and the staff was amazing! My husband and I decided to try it out one night while my parents were in town--which is always a risky move-- but it was well worth the risk. We were all extremely satisfied, and each had an amazing meal. All of us are extremely picky when it comes to authentic Mexican food (all being from Southern California), so to leave with all of us being more then excited is really a feat! We started our meal with a trio of Pico De Gallo, Guacamole, and Queso without Chirozo. Each dish was fresh and unique. And the chips had a flavorful salt on them that only added to the flavor of the dips. Our server was amazingly helpful with the menu, and very friendly. He explained that each dish could be made vegetarian no problem, so we could easily order anything. I was very excited! He even checked to make sure their mole sauce was vegetarian, which it was! I love mole sauce, but rarely find a place that makes it vegetarian. So, of course I ordered their veggie mole enchiladas! Fantastic choice: full of flavor, fresh ingredients, and an unique pallet. Between all of us, we ordered Tacos, a Chimichunga, and Carne Asada. None of us were disappointed, and we all already want to go back. Also, shout out to the best margaritas! No mix, just lime, tequila, and triple sec. Im pretty sure they go heavier on the triple sec then the tequila and thats why they are a little sweeter then most, but it totally works for them. Strong but sweet drinks: I can already see this being a favorite establishment, and Ive only been there once! Amazing, just absolutely amazing!

Terrible service. My wife and I ordered chicken tacos a la cart and we waited for over 35 minutes without receiving our food. Our server came by 20 minutes in and promised us only 10 more minutes. Finally after 15 more minutes past he came by and said he didnt know the eta so we asked for a manager. When the manager finally arrived she said that she could not give us a timeframe and that the kitchen was backed up. They were busy but not nothing crazy... I expected the manager to tell me that she would fix the issue and our tacos would be out in 2min (as all taco ingredients are pre made - chicken, lettuce, cheese, shell) but instead she stubbornly defended the kitchen and told me she would not give a timeframe but I could leave if I wanted to and she would cancel our order. I didnt ask twice and we just left. funny thing is there was an issue with the table beside us when we first arrived and I noticed that the manager had to comp someones meal. We werent an isolated incident. Summary: This place makes decent tacos but their service is terrible. Prior to the issue described above Ive always been nervous as during previous visits it has seemed that the wait staff was running at full speed with their hair on fire for no good reason. Ive also wondered about the sanitation rating as everyone is touching / prepping food coming out of the window then bussing dirty tables repeatedly without washing their hands. Needs new mgmt.

Three Amigos will be probably one of my top 5 Mexican restaurants in Charlotte! Tucked away in the Plaza Midwood on Central Av, this restaurant is a less than a 10min drive from downtown/uptown. Ambiance is a not really a thing for most of the restaurants on Central Av, owing to the limited space I guess so. The restaurant had a couple of booths and tiny tables. I am an average person at about 160lbs and the small booth was pretty cramped for me. The menu was regular Mexican with not much house specials or interesting innovations. The only surprising thing on the menu was it had an "All day breakfast". I have hardly known any Mexican restaurants in Charlotte serving breakfast menus! While We ordered some Fajitas, Quesadilla, Empanadas and Chimichanga, we were given chips and Salsa. The chips were fresh and tasted so much better and the salsa was a die for! The dishes came in after a short wait while they were still smoking hot! The quantity was lavish and not too overwhelming. The food tasted heavenly! Everything from the mexican rice, beans and even pico had so much flavor to them and were not bland. We truly enjoyed a good Mexican dinner! I would recommend Three Amigos to all Amigos looks for good tasty Mexican food without puncturing your wallets. I would have given 5 stars but the ambiance and the small tables were a let down.

I used to love, I mean love 3 amigos. It had really good food and super friendly service. I always felt right at home and loved the tacos. Then, one time I went there and ordered shredded beef tacos as usual. They brought out ground beef tacos. I called the server over and told him. He said they were out of shredded beef. I thought it was weird that he didnt tell me first, but whatever. Normally I would have just eaten them, Im not one to complain or care, but the ground beef was inedible. It was like burnt beyond burnt, like if you bit it, it would just dissolve into dust kind of burnt. I sent them back. Meanwhile, a cockroach came flying from the ceiling and landed in the table beside mines guacamole. It then crawled out, over the persons plate and onto the floor. Everyone was screaming, the staff was just standing around, so I got up and stepped on it. The server came, replaced the peoples guacamole, didnt wipe the table, didnt replace their plates. And the best part was no one cleaned up the cockroach! They just left it there squashed in the middle of the floor. I left hungry. No one offered me something else to eat. They didnt pay for the only thing I ate: guacamole, which wasnt necessary but would have been a nice gesture. I havent been back since. Its been over a year.

Last night leaving this restaurant I was torn between giving this restaurant 3 or 4 stars. The food was OK, nothing spectacular, but not really bad either. The Cheese dip was very bland and very runny so I dont recommend that. The salsa was decent. I have enchiladas that again, were OK but nothing go make them stand out and my fiancée had fiatas that were the same story. The service was really slow. We were in the restaurant for nearly 2 hours (not including our wait time) and our drinks ran empty several time and I just feel like we were placed on the back burner. But all in all, good enough for a 3 star I suppose...... Until this morning when we both woke up running to the bathroom. Its definitely extremely rare for me to get sick from food so not sure what went wrong last night. I guess the best piece of advice I can give is to stay away from the chicken. We however will not be returning. Update: After a little over 2 weeks, the manager/owner messaged me apologizing for the issues and tried to make things right. This means a lot so Ive taken the score from a 1 star to a 3 star. Hopefully this was a one off situation where we got sick.
