OK. First of all, make sure you bring a coat, this place is freezing. I mean it was warmer outside than inside in NOVEMBER. We had reservations but the table they sat us in the vents blew directly onto us and the lighting was so poor we could not read the menus. We were then moved to another table where the air blew twice as much and after a few minutes they dropped all the lights again and we could not see the menus yet again. We ordered the Guacamole, which was good, not quite as good as Cantina 1511, but good. The chips were great, they were warm (much warmer than we were), the salsa was good unless you got the spices added, which instead of giving it a nice Chipotle flavor, reminded us of snuff, or an ashtray for those of you who arent familiar with snuff. As for the entree, I ordered the Mushroom Enchiladas with plaintains and roasted corn with queso. All of which were awesome. The enchiladas had a great fresh salsa and the plaintains were caramelized to perfection. The sides were generous portions so come hungry or prepare to take them with you. The corn was flavorful, I was surprised that it was an entire roasted ear and had the queso cream on top of the ear with some spices. VERY tasty. I ordered a mexican coffee as well just to try and warm me up a bit. Overall we ended up eating as fast as we could to get out of that IceBox and had dessert at another restaurant because we were so uncomfortable. The food was great and I would return for the food, but realistically the four of us in our party were so miserable (we had sweaters on and our coats on our laps) we probably wont go back. Fix the lighting and the wintertime A/C and we will be back until then, we will continue searching for alternate choices in the Queen City.

I would like to start out by saying that we were really excited for this restaurant to open and when we walked in we were really impressed by the atmosphere and decor! We ordered a a Mojito and a White sangria, they were ok but for a 8 dollar Mojito I expect the mint to be muddled not dropped in the bottom of the glass and poured over. We ordered the Barbacoa tamal......I am no expert in Mexican cusine but the masa was really dry which sucked al the flavor out of the tamal.......we orderd the chicken tinga and the chicken and corn enchiladas for our entres. The chicken tinga was very flavorful it was a indian style spanish dish which I thought was cool. Need more tortillas with it though.... the enchilada dish, the idea was there but the execution was really flawed, overall I feel like the meal was old looking and tasting.....were the enchiladas made the night before? I know the beans were, they were dry and lumpy, unacceptable. The green chile sauce was flavorful but there was only a small spoonful on the plate, which would be ok if the enchiladas were not dry and the tortillas overcooked, if you put them in the oven to melt the small amount of cheese you probably need to actually cover it in cheese so it doesnt dry it out so much. The filling was pretty good but not enough of it, I am sorry to be so negative but I really expected alot more from a high end joint that Vida claims to be and looks to be. I hope to return a few months later and the kinks are out, well see.

We went to Vida for a birthday party and came in with a party of 16, not an unhadleable table. There were problems to begin with. They gave our RESERVED table away, claiming they needed it to handle the 40 top that apparently "suprised them". This is a lie. The service staff sat us 15 full minutes after our reservation and proceded to screw up from then on. They seemed unable to handle a table of more than 6 and just looked confused... all 3 of them. It is blatently obvious that the management at Vida is struggling to save money and are making cuts in the Front of House staff. After waiting a full 20 minutes to actually order, we waited another 45 for any food to actually arrive, and by that time most of our table had given up and left. After recieving nothing but dirty looks from the apparent "manager" we left in disgust. I will absolutely never go back to Vida under any circumstances. They are a dissapointment to the Uptown community and the culinary industry in general. The waiters and service staff give FOH staff everywhere a bad name. Heads need to roll if they expect to make it any longer than 6 months in Uptown.

A friend and I went to Vida today for lunch. My friend ordered a chicken burrito and I ordered a beef burrito. Approximately 15 minutes after ordering, our server (Victoria) brought out our food. After cutting into the burritos, we realized that both were chicken. I flagged down Victoria and told her my order was wrong. She took my food back to the kitchen, and I presumed an effort would be made to quickly correct the mistake. But I was wrong. After about 20 minutes (during which time my friend had pretty much finished her lunch), Victoria returned to our table and apologized that it was taking so long (my food still wasnt ready). At that point, I told her I didnt want it. Then she walked away. She didnt seem to care that a customer came to Vida for lunch and walked out empty-handed. I will not be a return customer.

The food was OK. Went with my mother and sister for Memorial Day. After ordering an appetizer my waiter dissapered, stating that someone else was to supposed to come by. My drink glass was filthy with pieces of idk stuck to my ice. The service was average, my waiter...well one of them only came by once to ask of the food was OK once it was out. Nonetheless we didnt complain and just ate paid and left. One the way out one of the many waiters chased us up the street, cut in the middle of our conversation with another vendor and almost demanded a tip! He wouldnt leave stating that we should have tipped them. We politely told him to leave, Very unprofessional. Will never go there again and will tell every review board that lets me! Ive never in my life experienced anything like that.

OVER PRICED AND DISSAPOINTED!!!!. Went last night @ 6:45....The only good thing is the guacamole and chips. Our server not once asked how our dinner was! Not going back ever!!! I should have known this is going to happen. Mexican cuisine should be cooked with passion by a real mexican chef not a white wanna be chef. The green rice is supposed to be green and not brown with corn - I did not order a fried rice! The barbacoa had too much meat and not that good either so as the carne asada...it was bland. The beans...well, dont even order it. Needless to say, the food is not worth it. Like I said, over priced and dissapointed. I hope the owner and the chef takes the time to read the review it might save the restaurant -maybe not.

Vida is a joke! for the portions they give out they are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over-priced! For three tacos..15.99. Their cheapest burrito was 14.00... I know it is in the heart of Charlotte, but come on! I ordered the nachos with chicken that was 11.99 (might as well say 12.00) and when they brought it out...it was 6 little nachos on a kid sized plate with very little chicken, a little cheese and some tomato...WHAT THE HELL?! I told the waitress to take it back and refused to pay for it. At least I didnt have to pay 2.30 for one glass of lemonade. The atmosphere is really loud and crowded so if that is your kind of scene and you dont mind paying big bucks for kid sized portions, this is the place for you.
