Went here earlier tonight (St. Patricks Day) with my parents, their friends (all 4 regular patrons/bar hoppers) and brought along my 2.5 yr old daughter. They were super-busy since it was St. Pats of course, but the crowd was of mixed-age, everyone seemed cheerful and friendly, our server was nice and attentive and made sure to apologize when some of the food took a bit longer than expected, etc. Didnt even get to go inside, it was too crowded! But we ate outside on the patio, there were nice big heaters since it was chilly, TVs all over the place, an outdoor bar. The food was decent and reasonably priced.The location is hip and cozy. Most of our party enjoyed traditional Irish food and beer to celebrate the holiday and the pub provided green hats and beads in honor of the day. Overall I think its a place that Id like to check out again.

I used to enjoy going to Selwyn Pub because it was a great neighborhood bar with friendly people and an attentive waitstaff. Boy have I been disappointed lately...in my most recent experience, the service we received was unremarkable at best. The phrase of the day must have been "sorry, but..." followed by whatever excuse they could find for the poor service. Dont go there to watch a football game either...they have plenty of TVs, but theyre very reluctant to show a variety of games throughout the place. The servers just dont care...I am so sorry I bought even one over priced beer from this place.

This is a great neighborhood bar with a ton of character. Adam does a great job of making the regulars feel welcome. I typically wear a t-shirt and jeans when I am there vs. a long sleeve polo and khakis that the other reviewer referenced. When I go to Selwyn Pub, I typically see a diverse group with one thing in common - character! It is common to see someone in a suit sharing a beer with someone in jeans with tats. A message to the fore mentioned reviewer, life is too short to be unhappy. You would probably be happier at Jasons Deli on Woodlawn. Check it out sometime.

Great scene and lots of TVs but the service is continually terrible. There is a huge amount of turnover in their waitstaff. I would recommend ordering from the bar if its not too crowded instead of the waitstaff if possible. They dont take reservations but it can be a lot of fun to watch a game. Its much better when its nice out as their outdoor area is much better than the indoor. The food is great and I would recommend the signature pizza!

I was curious to try this out after reading all the reviews here, people did not have much positive to say. I was there yesterday with 5 friends and have to say it was great; we sat outside and had fantastic service the entire time, we had a salad and wings and they were both great, and the beer selection was good as well. we all enjoyed it and will definitely be back, a very nice place to hang out in the sun on a Sunday :-)

Our friends took us to Selwyn for a casual Friday dinner. The menu boasts a bit more than the typical pub fare and beer selection; they have something for pretty much every diet and/or craving. The food itself was only okay, though the varied draughts kept us happy. Service was occasionally aloof, but nice overall. In the end, it was the company that made our night, not the venue.

Selwyn is a great place if you want to hang among the young rich crowd with the long bangs parted over the right side of their foreheads. If you like this and khaki shorts and guys in long sleeve polos selwyn is your place! Personally, I cant stand these obnoxious carbon copy patrons that selwyn produces. Oh, and the service sucks but the patio is cool...

Grew up in Charlotte and now reside in San Antonio. Recently returned to Charlotte during Christmas and remembered this neighborhood pub from years gone by. My wife and son and myself all loved it!! Something for everyone. Great draught beer, sports and video games for kids. The Hot Salsa is a must try and the sliders were very good. Everyone happy!!

Worst place ever and I never have posted about complaining about a bar ever so you know its bad..Waited at the bar front for more than about 15 minutes and never got served as I put my hand up with my card and being a female. All bartenders served except for this Asian female. Never again will I waste my time at this place.

Great atmosphere with indoor/outdoor options. Plenty of TVs and outdoor heaters for the colder months. Couches are outside for relaxing, can eat/drink indoors as well. I do wish they would restrict the cigarette smoking as its offensive and a detriment to the health of other patrons.

Its Sat. and the superbowl of soccer is on. But instead of listening to the game they insisted on playing the audio to the senior pga tour. Way to kill a vibe and put your patrons to sleep....were off to a real british pub down the street.
