This place is unbelievable! It has the WORST customer service not to mention how disgusting the kitchen is. I dined here with my husband and son on 4/18/17. After a disappointing meal we decided to go down to the beach for about 45 minutes. Upon returning back to the restaurant, and employee was locking the gate. I informed him that we had valet parked and just finished eating. The employee Jason, told me they were closed and I would need to walk around to the front as he proceeded to lock the gate. Holding my 1 year old son who was hot and needed his diaper changed, I asked if he could please let us in to use the bathroom. He said "no, we are closed!" I then proceeded to walk all the way to the front to retrieve my car and noticed people were still in the restaurant. I walked up to restrooms and to my despair saw that thier were still several people eating and enjoying the bar. I was so upset because i had to walk all the way around the front carrying my son as his father carried the rest of our stuff from the beach. This is where I encountered Jason again and politely asked him why he wouldnt let my son and I to use the restroom before he locked the gate in our face. his response was "I told you we are closed and your lucky we even have a bathroom for you to use!" I was so offended by the way he was acting i sought out a manager named Maggie who apologized for his actions and told me there was a gas leak which is why they were shutting down the restaurant.... however people were still enjoying themselves at the pool and bar... Today I was still upset that someone would refuse a mother and her baby a restroom that I did a little digging on the restaurant only to be disgusted. Come to find out there was no gas leak and in fact had been shut down by the health department due to disgusting contamination of food and rodent droppings and an uncleanly kitchen! You can look this information up! This is sad because this is a spot we normally bring family from out of town. It also was the place for my husbands and Is first date. I will NEVER give this place business ever again!

Unless you are intoxicated enough to not remember your own name. My fiancee and I live right outside of New Smyrna and usually go to Breakers on Flagler Ave. for a beachside night out. We decided to choose something different. I was a server for almost 10 years and this place completely startled me. "beachside" is the only thing this place has going for it. We decided to sit at the bar, as it was a busy night and the bar wasnt packed. Immediately we were smothered by a belligerent older man who is a "regular" and had been previously flirting with a couple of women across the bar who were able to get the point across that they didnt want his company. The man plopped right down in the stool beside me and didnt get the obvious hints. The bartender and kitchen workers knew he was and seemed incredibly annoyed by him. We received our food after an antagonizing wait (because of the company) and I could see the mans spit flying into my plate while he was hovering over me trying to talk to my fiancee. We are not the type to complain much and are quite tolerant. My fiancee, after clearly reading my body language told him we wanted to eat in private. The man got up and left. The food was terrible and incredibly overpriced. Their blackening spice seems to be 90% salt. The bartender even recommended we get our fish and chicken lightly "blackened" and we did. Not even 3 minutes after the older man left the bar, we were once again greeted by a completely tossed older woman who was alone and almost fell on her bum two times while attempting to get on the stool next to my fiancee. She had to get help from another customer at the bar who was kind enough to call someone in her phone to get a ride home... The bartender CLEARLY saw how sloshed she was, and never approached the manager about the situation. If you are a college student and just plan on getting obliterated without any hassle, this is the place for you. Otherwise, steer clear!

We tried going to this place yesterday (Memorial Day) and were immediately greeted in a nasty manner. We had a party of 11 (3 of which were children 6-10) and were made to feel as though we had the plague from being such a big party. I literally had the manager (who looks like hes strung out on crack) screaming at me that wed have a wait of an hour "at minimum if we wanted to sit together." I told him that as long as we had tables near each other so that we could converse with one other that was okay, and he said "if you dont want first come, first serve than its going to be at least an hour wait, if not longer." When he wouldnt give me a definite answer we decided to take our business elsewhere. So, we called Flip Flops (right down the road) and they had a table ready for our "big party of 11" within 10 minutes. The food at Flip Flops was great. Id highly recommend going to Flip Flops over this place. The owners of Chases need to re-evaluate their staff because being they have a manager like this on their payroll they lost out on our business. Yes, a party of 11 is a big party, but if I were the manager/owner of a restaurant Id be happy to see such a large group... 11 = $$$ And, why would we go to dinner together to sit on two different sides of the restaurant if we wanted "first come, first serve?" FYI- they do not take reservations and the pool is for 21 & up so your children cannot use it, but they "can go to the beach."

On our first day of vacationing in New Smyrna Beach, my husband and I had dinner at Chases on the Beach. To make a long story short, we will never be eating there and will not recommend this restaurant. We are usually very easy to please especially while on vacation. Our waitress came to our table and left before taking our complete orders. When we ordered items they were out of and we made our second choices, she told us that she would check on the availability of the items and let us know; that did not happen. My husband ordered a second beer that never appeared on our table. Our appetizer never graced our presence either. My glass was never refilled even though the table beside us was refilled twice before we left (and I was drinking the same drink). Our waitress did not check on us before we left. My husbands filet mignon was cooked way too long; it was tough and black rather than medium as he ordered. The mashed potatoes were gross! Finally, we requested the check, which was $46.xx for things we did not even eat. After our check was given to us, we waited at least 10-15 minutes before we asked another waitress to take the bill for us. Then, our waitress returned with our receipts. The atmosphere was ok, but it was next to the beach. The food was gross, and the service was awful!! We could not even find a manager to talk to about our experience. We just went to our hotel room and ordered pizza instead. :(
