I recently went to the Red Rocks Cafe in Birkdale Village. The food was quite good, but the service really messed everything up for my family and I. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant where it was extremely dark and smelled of the bathroom. We requested to move due to the fact that my grandmother was unable to see the menu (due the lack of lighting). It was around 4 p.m. and there was almost no one there-- so there were plenty of spaces in all areas of the restaurant. When we requested the seating change, the waiter looked at us almost as if we were in the wrong, and then excused himself to go to the front and have a long conversation with the hostess. He failed to return, so we requested the seating change to another waitress that was there. She also looked at us rather funny, but after a few moments, she agreed. It was an odd experience. I am not going to jump to conclusions, but I almost want to question the way they treat customers such ourselves, if you understand what I am saying. I do not want to accuse them of malpractice against our type of clientele, but I am a tad suspicious. In addition, we had to wait about 20 minutes before our waitress took our order for our entree. She was very sweet, unlike the others we interacted with, but the service was quite slow in comparison to our other experience at the southpark Red Rock Cafe (which, compared to this one, is amazing-- I highly recommend it.) The food was nice, but again, nice food can be received from many different restaurants-- most of them with better customer service than this one. It is quite unfortunate that we had this experience. If you have a choice between Birkdale Village and Southpark, choose Southpark.

I went with a friend for lunch 12.31. I had read the reviews and expectations were high. Unfortunately we could not have been more disappointed. We were recommended to try the calamari by the waiter which we did but, quite honestly, it was completely tasteless and probably one of the worst calamari appetizers I have ever had. My friend had the cesar salad with beef and by all accounts it was just "ok", no more. I had the chicken saltimbocca which was just terrible - overly heavy sauce, over cooked thin spaghetti, nuked vegetables and overall just tasteless. This meal actually caused me to be unwell later in the afternoon. The service was ok but lacked real knowledge of the menu and the recommendation for the calamari demonstrated this. Maybe we just experienced a bad day but I and my friend will not be returning, especially when you can get a far superior lunch at places like Upstream for the same price.

My husband and I went to Red Rocks for my birthday. We both ordered our steaks medium. However, when we got them, one was medium rare and the other was well done. The waiter agreed that the steaks were not cooked correctly and took them back to the kitchen. Thirty minutes later, the manager comes out with our steaks and asked us to cut in to them to make sure that they were cooked correctly. He never apologized or tried to make things right. We liked the food but refuse to patronize this business in the future. The manager was very rude and nonchalant. If he would have at least apologized for us having to wait over an hour to get our food and cooking the steaks incorrectly, we would have returned. Instead, he lost good customers.

I was extremely disapointed with my first experience at Red Rocks. We went to the Thanksgiving buffett, which from a visual perspective looked delicioius. However, I was disapointed once I started eating. The vegtables were overcooked and sans seasonings. The ham was good, but the turkey looked extremely dry so I abstained from trying it. The stuffing looked overcooked as well--and it was. The salmon was completely bland. I will give them credit on the mashed potatoes & deviled eggs--they were good. When Im paying $23/person & $13/child, I expect the food to be excellent. And it wasnt :(

This place is THE Perfect place for: families, friends, & parties. Simply put, the food is exquisite. Each dish is great in its own way, the accents of each go together very well with others, so paring together features is the way to go. Not to mention their beer and wine selection. The staff keeps on their toes & more importantly takes each customers requests to heart & gives unparalleled service.

Food was excellent. I came here on a Saturday for lunch with my family. It wasnt very crowded but I figured that was the case because its set back in the shopping center and not obvious from the road. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Everyone in my family has a different order and everyone ate everything if their plates, which is uncommon. So kudos to them for the great food.

Red Rocks is one of my favorite places to dine in Charlotte. The food is good and quality consistent. I also like the wonderful variety of menu items to choose from. The portion sizes are large and the plate presentation is impressive. The one area that makes this restaurant stand out above others is the service. Excellent staff that are very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Red Rocks is one of the few locally owned restaurants in Charlotte NC that has been in business 20+ years. They serve great food, from a menu with a wide variety of entrees. In addition to the food what really makes Red Rocks special is the folks who work there. John Love the owner has put together a team of employees who really care about providing great service and tasty food.

I had the Bison burger and was very pleased with my plate, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was lively! The restaurant offers an open patio, bar and large group seating; I am particularly fond of server Jennie she is extremely cordial and made my dining experience exceptional. I highly recommend Red Rocks for date night a family gathering and all your catering needs.

Took my sister and brother in law to Red Rocks on Providence Road last PM. Once again I was impressed with the excellent seafood dishes we were served. The Italian wine, Maso Canali, that was recommended to go with the meal almost rated a sixth star. The dessert that we shared was a "heavenly bliss", which will prompt another visit soon. Love this place.

Nice local place with good options and decent portion sizes. Friendly staff. Bartenders Lauren and Stacy (?) are both very nice and helpful. Down to earth and attentative. Nice little outdoor area as well. My favorite dishes include the ahi tuna sandwich, Buffalo shrimp and seafood fresco. Many options.

My family and I eat at Red Rocks often. The food is always prepared perfect. The ribs are the best I have ever had. The covered patio allows outdoor dining without fear of rain. The service is always great with a well trained staff. Large drink menu and always a great social scene!
