Its no surprise Midnight Diner is known for its fancy Cuisines things such as its shrimp and grits Fried Chicken and delicious biscuits , but until recently I have began to experience bad customer service for instance tonight when me and my friend begin dining we were asked several times how we would be paying for our meal and would the ticket be together or separate typically this is an indicator that the server is either in a hurry or in a rush however for me the customer it is very frowned upon either way he continued to rush our meal bringing the tickets before asked. Needless to say we were not asked if we would like additional items beverages or dessert. Myself and my guest had planned on purchasing additional food but since we were not ask we decline to do so resulting in Midnight Diner missing additional Revenue as well as leaving customers very unsatisfied upon exiting the restaurant. My friend asked for the remainder of her change from our server Gregg he proceeded to lay the money on the counter even though her hand was fully extended within his view sight when asked why he did not place the money in her hand he replied I did not want to touch her hand for me this is beyond disrespectful one from a man to a woman and 2 from a customer to an employees point of view. It is unacceptable and this level of disrespect should not be tolerated from anyone better in an establishment where patrons are paying with their hard-earned dollars. In closing I will think very hard before I ever decide to patronize your business again thanks for the delicious food followed by the terrible service.

After waiting in line we were skipped by people that knew a waitress. The waitress allowed the people to skip 3 groups of people that had been waiting for roughly 10 minutes. The host did not seem to care at all that people were waiting when there were 3 visible tables open with no customers sitting at. Once it was brought to the managers attention they seemed to "care" and apologize as they "understood" our frustration. Upon being sat down at the table we were given dirty looks by the waitress that let the group skip us during the whole duration of our stay. It took 10 minutes to get any type of attention from a waitrees, after we asked who or server was. It took so long that we had to flag down someone to get a waitress. We understand its a diner and that is busy but the lack of customer service was absolutely ridiculous. The staff began to serve other tables that were sat behind us almost like it was being held against us that we voiced Frustration. I have never been treated so poorly from a customer service standpoint. It was to the point where I felt the need to check my food to see if anything was done by the staff. This will be the last time I come to this establishment because I do not want to feel uncomfortable eating a meal. Absolutely unbelievable and ridiculous service. Do NOT eat here. I have lived in Charlotte my whole life and this is the worst Ive ever been treated at any place Ive eaten at.

Weve had meals here a few times in the past few weeks; the food is high quality, for a diner, and the portions are more than adequate for the price. Weve even had really good service, most of the time. Like most restaurants they have ups and downs in service. Their downs, though, were disappointing enough for me to not want to come back for a while. I really like this restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly and energetic, the food is awesome, and when the service staff is on the ball its like they only have eyes for you. And the only time weve been here where we were seated on the side of the (and Im having a happy-nerd-moment writing this phrase) renovated train dining car that isnt clearly visible from the front entrance, the quality of service suffered; we were more or less ignored until I flagged down another waitress for refills, when tables beside us had been served (by other servers), my daughter was served an incomplete order (and was blamed when we brought it up to yet another waitress), and when my assigned waitress actually came to ask if I needed anything, Id already asked for boxes and the check, and she got angry with me for having asked someone else. My rating is based on my actual feelings for this restaurant--my review is so people know what to avoid to get the best experience from this awesome diner.

Normally the waitresses are good but tonight. NO. They had an 18 year fix my drink. It was straight sour mix. She lied and said she put alcohol in it but my drink was clearly wrong. I had to ask for more liqour twice. She then had her boss come up to us and say that she wasnt feeling well and she had to go home. Well, the table sitting across from us (Men only) the 18 year old waitress wasnt to sick to fondle and giggle with them. She even took a seat at their table and chatted up for a bit. On the while our new waitress brought us our food however never brought us anything to eat with. We waited for about 10 minutes thinking she was coming back. I ended up getting up and going to the bar to get forks and knives. I came back and the 18 year old waitress is still talking AND serving the young mens needs. Our new waitress never came to check up on us. We ended up asking the bus boy to be out waiter. We politely gave him the tip and left the waitress nothing. Tonight was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHAT SO EVER. Food was ok. It felt like a very unorganized staff running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. The only reason Im giving 2 stars is because of the waiter James. Great job tonight for stepping in and taking ownership and initiative to help.

This place has some of the rudest employees I have ever been associated with. My friends and I went this past Saturday and were shocked by horrible the experience was. The waitress was rude and told us we were talking too long and that we were confusing her. Mind you three of us got the same thing so it shouldnt be that confusing. After 30 mins of waiting for our orders we got our food and our waitress forgot to put in the order of my friend and blamed it on the kitchen. Mind you after she was informed we watched her go in a put the order into the computer. The order of simple chicken tenders took 20 mins to come out after we all finished our food. When we were ready for our checks the waitress made of us get up and show her whose order was for who. WHERE DO THEY DO THIS? I have never experienced this. When we told the manager how long it took for our friend to get her food she told us "sorry its the kitchens fault" and acted as thought that was a sufficient answer. We had been there before and never experienced this and actually gave a 5 star rating on yelp. That will change and if you see Bonnie and Shamen in there if you go, just walk right out or ask for a new waitress because this was ridiculous.
