Trip 1 - Ordered the fried chicken green beans and mac. The chicken had no discernible flavor and the pieces were different colors as if some were from the day before and some the day of. The greens beans were straight out of the can, absolutely no flavor and with hard inedible pieces. The mac.. wow! Looked and tasted like Kraft cheese melted and mixed with elbows. Really quite sad. I didnt make a fuss and just let the barely touched plate send a message. My mother had the fried seafood platter which was "ok" but def a regrettable decision for around $18 or so. Chalked it up as a bad choice and was relieved I at least saved via Groupon. Trip 2 - Had some value left on the gift card and decided I might as well close the chapter fully. I placed a pick up order over the phone as I def wasnt wasting time sitting in this place. Jude answered and her nonchalant demeanor was apparent over the phone. Ordered the Diamond Club and a Gyro platter, both of which come with fries. I picked up the food and realized after pulling off that neither of the meals had fries. And this is after I saw her make and place in the bag ONE small takeout cup of ketchup for me. I called and notified her, and upon acknowledging the mistake she finally showed some concern and service. She said I could come back and get them which wasnt going to happen in 4:30ish traffic. She offered to cover a meal the next time I came, she offered this, I didnt have to pressure or ask. I couldnt except not getting what I ordered and payed for so I called back this next day to make good on the offer. I ended up speaking with the manger who told me, with a hint of aggression that I could come pick up the two fries. Lol, really though. I explained AGAIN what Jude told me to which he said had heard nothing about it, and I would have to call back hours later after she arrived. Again this was all with a hint of take ot or leave it aggression. That was it. I wasnt going to waste any more time trying to settle with this lackluster establishment, far from worth it. I hate I had to even spend the time writing this review, but both experiences were so bad I had to. Summary - Definitely not deserving of ones time or or money, especially if you consider all of the options nearby. Unless its 3am and alcohol has impaired your taste buds and there are no other options, you deserve to do much better for yourself.

We went there for dinner one weekend. Firstly, the parking lot was small and crowded and kinda looked like an alleyway. The spaces werent clearly marked and cars were parked wherever they could fit. We walked around front and the entrance was dark and unwelcoming. The place was crowded and we took that as a good sign. The seating seemed a little crowded and it was kinda hard to maneuver to our table without bumping into other diners seats. The place was loud and even though we were seated in a booth in the corner we had to shout just to hear each other. The waitress was friendly and quickly took our order. While we waited we started looking around at the decor and noticed that the place wasnt all that clean. We saw dust and cobwebs on the fan and wall decor. The wallpaper seemed kinda dingy too. I noticed that the couple across from us had left and a worker was "cleaning" the seats. After he finished cleaning I noticed huge crumbs or particles of food still in the seat. The next thing I knew, a waitress brought a couple to that table and seated them. They sat right on top of the leftover stuff. Gross!! For our appetizers we ordered the "Pig Wings", which were bite-sized pieces of fried pork served with a dipping sauce. I didnt enjoy them at all. They were dry, leathery, and flavorless. For our entree I ordered a small Block Burger and my date ordered a Winky Dinky Dog. The burger was really good and the beef was fresh, moist, and flavorful. My date enjoyed his Winky Dog. My burger didnt come with fries so when the waitress came back around, I ordered fries and she said she would bring them. Well, she didnt come back until 15 minutes later and by then we had finished eating. She never even mentioned the fries again. She just gave us the check. We paid and left but overall we felt a little disappointed by our visit. The one saving grace was the burger and hot dog. Everything else pretty much was unimpressive.

Sadly disappointed after the long wait to re-open after the Penguin debacle. Got there @ 11:55pm and was surprised to learn the kitchen closes at midnight. I ordered a hotdog with chili & cheese. The "chili" was terrible! It was either hamburger helper or out of a can. Tasted nothing like chili and was cold. My friend had the "Winki-dinki" dog which was his favorite from the Penguin. He said the same thing, "what is this stuff" referring to the chili. He also ordered a sandwich which I forget the name of. It was like a "Mamwich" style thing and was made of the exact same "material" the "chili" was made of. Both of us were shocked at this point and really disappointed. We're long time Penguin fans so it's hard to understand how these guys could screw up such an easy good thing like the hotdogs. We will definitely go back to try a burger as I'm sure most things on the menu will be good but after all the hype and wait along with eating great food at the Penguin for so long you just expect the same or better. How can they possibly think the stuff they call "chili" is worthy of anyplace other than a public school cafeteria? Overall I would recommend going because of their ten years of running the Penguin. I hope my experience is an anomaly.

Just went back to the Diamond after many years. In my opinion, the new owners have done justice to the old menu as well as added new items. My co-worker and I shared a basket of the home made chips with the onion dip and I must say it was extremely tasty. I had the fried catfish sandwich which was a couple of nice fried catfish fillets on a cold hamburger bun with out of this world tartar sauce. I know a cold hamburger bun sounds a little strange, but with that hot fish and cool tarter sauce it was WONDERFUL. My co-worker had the open face turkey sandwich. I had to taste it. The mashed potatoes on the side were REAL mashed potatoes and the turkey was very flavorful. And the gravy......... Visions of Thanksgiving danced in my head as I tasted it. The staff were extremely fast and helpful. Now parking can be a problem, but I parked at a lot behind the restaruant. We got there at 5 minutes past noon and were fortunate to get a table as soon as we walked in. Upon leaving I told my server I only had two compliants. One..... no place to take my nap after a meal like that one and two it took me longer to drive there from my office than it did to eat. I am sure I will be back.....
