As a restaurant manager myself I know that there are certain expectations that must be upheld for a customer. My girlfriend and I havent had HWY 55 in a few years, so we decided to give a try at the charlotte location. As we walked in, we didnt know whether to sit down or wait to be seated, until one of the cooks yelled out to sit anywhere. After we sat down, we waited for a few minutes for the server to bring us the menu and ask us for our drink order. 10-12 minutes later, were still waiting for the server to come give us our menus. it would have been understandable if they were super busy but they werent ( no more than 10 customers in the store!) Somehow we were over looked, and after waiting for 10 minutes without service, we got up and left, and not a single employee or manager raised a question as to why. I read all these reviews about how great the food is, its just a shame that it isnt matched by their customer service.

Honestly...the food is great,service terrible. You get sat quick but thats where the quick ends. They take 15 minutes just to take your drink order and another 15 to bring the drinks. They always seem really busy. The manager was very friendly but the server not as much. I ordered the cheese burger with their onion rings. The onion rings were crispy and fresh and full of flavor not disappointed. The cheese burger was spot on not over cooked and the lettuce and burger fixings were fresh and crisp. The milkshake was surprisingly satisfying very tasty. So overall would I go back?yes definitely. Would I recommend? Yes. Hope this helped. If you want a good old fashioned but tasty burger and shake this is a good spot. Just be prepared to wait.

DO NOT EAT HERE!! My husband and I decided to give the cute little diner a try. We went in, sat down and waited 5 minutes to even be acknowledged. Waited another 15 to have our orders taken. About 20 minutes later we got our food, but it was the wrong order and was COLD. The server practically threw our food at us and didnt wait to see if it was correct, so we waited another 10 minutes just to flag her down. Finally, we flagged her down again for a refill and the check, and she over charged us 10 dollars. I explained to her that all I had ordered was a sandwich and water, not a meal, and she argued with me!! Absolutely the worst restaurant I have ever been to, PLEASE do not eat here for your own sake unless you enjoy horrible service.

I am from Greenville, NC where Andys (Hwy 55) originated. After visiting this location a number of times I can say its nothing like that original. I was barely greeted AND no one opened the door for customers, which is something Andys prides itself in doing. I ordered my usual shrimp burger, which is the only thing Ive eaten today, and Im pretty sure its given me diarrhea. The guest I brought with me was also displeased with her food. Maybe the owner and staff should take a trip back home and see how a REAL Andys should operate.

Service is terrible. I eat at the one in Locust all the time, its a true five star Hwy 55. Maybe the employees here at this one need to be trained on customer service more or something. I sat at the bar in the only clean spot at 230 in the afternoon, the entire time I was there, not one person cleaned the counter where I was sitting. The one white waitress was working hard, but everyone else seemed to be oblivious to the fact they work in a service business. No smiles from employees, bunch of side conversations. Just sad.

I went here for lunch. I sat and waited for a server to take my order. One never came. No drink order, no menus, no nothing. There was a couple who came right before me a they served with no problems. I sat there for about thirty minutes until I just got an left. I tried calling to speak to a manager on duty, the girl on the phone said she was busy. COMPLETE BULLSHIT, the place was barely half full. Waitresses just walked passed me like I was nothing. Terrible service, terrible staff and management.

You have the best milk shakes and every one is nice and me and my bestfriend laurel both agree Rebecca H should get a pay raise!! I recommend the cookies and cream milkshake btw!! Also the restaurant is connected to a surf shop so you can shop after!! all in all, this is the bestttt and the food couldnt have been better! also rebecca even took a selfie with us !! Came in for lunch waited 15 mins before having to walk up to the counter to ask for a menu waitress said she didnt see my party sitting there in the front of the restaurant across from the register after I had made eye contact with her 3 times also 2 other parties came in after us and had there drink order taken and got menu s right away , burger was ok nothing special crinkle fries were hard and nothing great either. Not coming back

I have eaten here 3 times because I like the food and prices are pretty good but finally gave up today after unbelievably bad service. The service has gone from just ok to really bad. During my most recent visit we waited 40 minutes for our food while the servers chatted at the cash register. No refills on drinks after you waited to get them forever. Its really just a management issue but they dont seem to be fixing it.

I just left from this location and my server syvannah was wonderful. Very well mannered and helpful. My only issue is, at what point does the cook/cooks decide that its a good time to change their gloves. I watched as one of the cooks touched raw chicken, then touched the frying handles, his personal cup to take a drink, he went into the back cooler and touched his clothes. By the time I left he decided to change gloves.

They didnt have any banana splits, chocolate milk, cajun seasoning for fries, or eggs for on burgers. Kind of a bummer especially because its a 1950s themed restaurant youd think they would keep the banana splits in stock at least. Other than that the service wasnt too slow and the burgers were juicy and delicious. And the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside!

Good food,but slow service. Wasnt busy our server came once and that was to bring our food. After that she went somewhere else. We had to ask for another server to get our check. Still end up waiting because that server went back to our orginial server. We still waited for the check and box. We honestly could of left without paying. Dont come here for a crappy service!

Burger was ok. Employee gave my order to someone else (thats a first, and it was dead) and I had to wait for it to be made "again". Employee could not be bothered to apologize even though I was polite the whole time. Heres a protip: when someone places a to go order, ask for their name, and when a customer comes in you ask for the name associated with their order.
