Ive been to Salem Street quite a few times. As a server and the daughter of a restaurant owner, I typically have a good amount of patience when it comes to eating out. Although the quality is normally great, when I came at 4 in the afternoon (not a very busy time for a sit down restaurant) I was highly dissatisfied. I was on a date and seated by the manager in a mostly empty restaurant uncomfortably close to a large table. He said a server would be by shortly, and when I said thank you, he ignored me and walked away to help another server clean another table. These were two employees cleaning a table in a pub at 4 in the afternoon before we were seen. After a moment, another server came by to check on the table next to us, pre-bussed it, and walked away. Yet another server began cleaning yet another table, before anyone came to so much as ask us what we wanted to drink. We had been sitting there for about five minutes in a mostly empty restaurant before getting up to leave, and were not even spoken to on our way out the door. The service is normally great, so the only reason I can think of for this blatant disregard for my table is the fact that Im seventeen and most servers dont think we will tip or order alcohol to bump up the bill. I leave 20-35% when I eat out because I believe in making a servers day with a big tip. This server missed out.

Weve visited this restaurant once a week for the past year and a half. Its usually been on a Tuesday or Wednesday while our daughter is busy with after school activities. Weve always ordered a very specific combination of chicken wings, and a couple of draft beers. Our daughters schedule changed a few weeks ago so we started going on Thursdays since it was closer to the weekend. It just so happens that Thursday is half price wing night at this place. Great, right?! NOT! We ordered 15 wings last night and 4 beers. After finishing our drinks and eating 10 wings (1.5 hours in the restaurant), we asked for a to-go box for the remaining five wings (our daughter likes wings too). We were told by the waitress that if we took the wings with us, they would have to charge full price as the special is dine in only? WTF? We have never met the owner, even though weve seen her in the restaurant dozens of times, but we tracked her down to explain our situation. Her response, "sorry, thats our policy". Our loyalty to this place apparently didnt mean anything to her, even after explaining weve been there every week for the past year and a half! She lost a regular customer over 5 freaking chicken wings! IDIOT!

"SSP" as the locals calls it, serves up great hamburgers, chicken wings (my personal favorite), and the full range of classic American fare. The menu prices are reasonable and the environment is loud with a sports pub feel. SSP is great for having a good time with friends and family, and their full bar helps grease the wheels of conversation. It gets very busy and crowded on Friday & Saturday nights, so expect to enjoy a drink from the bar while waiting for your table. Hands down, my favorite restaurant in Downtown Apex and my wife and I always take out-of-town visitors to SSP. The only thing that bothers me as a wing lover is that they dont have a Medium sauce, only a Hot and a Mild. Please SSP, just combine the two sauces in the kitchen and offer a Medium sauce. Its so simple and your sauces are so delicious!

A friend and I were looking to eat somewhere we had never been before. Most of the reviews we saw were decent so we tried it out. We arrived and had to wait 25 minutes to be seated. We didnt mind that wait but after being seated, it took an hour and 10 minutes to get food. My burger was over cooked and more onion than meat, but after waiting so long, I ate it anyways. Our waitress had way too many tables and we had to wait another 20 minutes just to get our checks, the waitress didnt leave a pen so we had to ask the manager for one. After 8:30, the hostess kept telling guest coming in that it could be a long time before they could be seated, basically turning them away. Overall, the burger was decent, but Red Robin wouldve been a better choice and worth the extra $2 I wouldve ended up spending.

I have been visiting The pub weekly since Oct/Nov, almost to the point where I can order "the usual" and they know what I normally get. The service is great, almost always greeted at the door by a staff member and taken to a seat by a smiling young lady. The food has been great each time. I normally get a burger and they are well prepared and cooked, I have not had a single one that was under or over cooked. The toppings are fresh, none of that "last piece of lettuce" crap other places will throw on your food. The burger itself hangs off of the bun, the bun itself looks like its from a bakery and not a grocery store. The fries are crispy and golden brown. I have had other things and they were great, steak and cheese or the chicken wrap, the food is consistently great.

Edit: I just want to say that I have now been coming here for four months and it is still my favorite place since I moved from Long Island. .I am literally sitting at the bar as I type this and besides the food being amazing the staff is as well. Waitresses already remember my order (nachos with the veges, and condiments on the side bc Im picky and my wife is not) and the owner is the nicest guy you can meet. Thank you Salem Street we will be customers for life. I originally gave a full 5 stars, I wish I could bump salem street to 6 or more. Great food and great choice of tap beers.. Friendly staff also! Try the spicy burger and Scottish ale!

Came here for dinner with the hubby. We got in just before the Belmont race was run and the pub was showing the race on all screens. They even had the sound for the TV through the speakers. I like watching the Belmont so this was a good thing. Service here was very friendly and prompt. I ordered a patty melt and hubby had a "My Wife Said it Will Never Sell" burger. The patty melt was good but not spectacular. Hubby loved his burger which had peanut butter, honey, bacon, and cheddar on it. The sweet tea I had was almost too sweet, but our server brought out lemon very promptly when I requested it. Hubby enjoyed his beer (Harpoon UFO).

This is definitely the pub-to-go-to in town. Are you looking for pub food, and want to be in Downtown Apex? Look no further. The food is good for pub food, one person in our party had a burger - said it was good; another had chicken sandwich - said it was good; both the kids had kid items - ate them all; I had a salad and was surprised at how fresh it was since we were at a pub! They have tables with chalk and encourage kids to color on the tables, but dont worry, adults can color too! It gets super busy Sunday after church, so be sure to get there early or plan to wait.
