Went there last night. Food: Ordered the Beet Salad=Very Good, Lamb Chops=Bad, Over Cooked, Shrimp appetizer=Good and Shrimp Pasta=SoSo. Service: HORRIBLE!!! Waitress Girl (Thin, Blond with a heavy accent): May just be one of the dumbest waitresses. Did not check to see if everything was okay. Bought Shrimp appetizer and Shrimp Pasta to one person then approx 10 minutes later I got my salad. Waiting for Lamb Chops....10 minutes after I finished my salad we inquire about them...I do think she forgot to order them. Rudely she says "Well, do you want me to rush the kitchen?", "No" I reply, "want them done right, just wanted to know because other party was almost finished eating and I havent received my food"... well 25 minutes later I get my over cooked lamb chops. We were done with drink half way thru and she was no where to be found. Well I never do this but it did affect her tip.

Alor Cafe really offers a complete sensual experience that reaches beyond your taste buds. The delightful menu filled with sweet and savory crepes, salads, soups, desserts, and a variety of hot beverages are the highlight of this casual dining out experience. But from the moment you enter the cafe, you are met with a friendly staff, and sleek and colorful decor, and relaxing music, just right for the background while you reminisce with friends or get away from the daily grind by yourself with a good book and excellent food. A wide selection of choices means every taste will be satisfied. Try the Smoked Salmon Crepe or the Tomato Mushroom Crepe for a savory experience, or the Mixed Berries Crepe or Chocolate Banana Crepe for a sweet and delectable dish. Great for lunch or dinner, Alor Cafe is the perfect place to get away.

Last night my boyfriend and I tried to have dinner at this restaurant for his birthday. I had been there before and didnt have any problem but last night was horrible. The waitress asked us four times what we ordered because she couldnt write it down. We ordered 2 appetizers before our entrees. The bus boy brought out an appetizer and an entree together. Obviously this was WRONG!. MY entree went back to be kept warm and then the second appetizer was presented. We were so frustrated we packed up our dinners to go and realized we were supposed to receive a salad with the dinner. I had to remind them, but we left without it because we couldnt wait to get out of there. In a nutshell the service was horrible. What a shame because this could have been a nice evening.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! We booked big family Saturday brunch 3 weeks in advance. 2 days before the party received phone call from one of the workers that they cant accommodate our party because of another party and closed restaurant. Explanation very abrupt, no apology. Explanation given by the owner is totally different. It is understood that none of them were saying the truth, more importantly nobody feel sorry. To avoid this happening to you - stay away from this business. From my previous experience-food is OK, not more then that; service very poor. Booked this time just because of convenient location. Never again ! My recommendation-STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!!

Dont be fooled by the old reviews. They are from the previous owner. After coming to this place for years I decided to stop by today for lunch to see the new chef and new owner. What can I say. HORRIBLE. We ordered a salad that didnt come fresh. The flatbread that was from the previous menu also didnt taste right. When we sent the salad back. The waiter said the chef tried it and it was fine. We ate and got the bill. I asked why he didnt take off the salad. He said because you ordered it. Got all nasty and said if you dont like it leave. What kind of customer service is that. No wonder there wasnt a single person there.

Went to dinner at Alor the past Saturday. When it was time to pay the bill we gave a gift certificate we had received as a gift. The certificate had no expiration date and the date it was issued has Not passed a year yet. We were told that the restaurant is under new ownership and will not accept the gift certificates anymore. When we asked to see the manager we were told he was not in. The next day we went back to see the manager and were told the same thing. THIS IS VERY POOR BUSINESS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS. How many gift certificates were issued that are not valid any longer. I will never go back again.

recently went here for a Friday night date. The food was fantastic. The drinks were inventive and moderately priced at $9. We had the strawberry shortcake crepe which was out of this world amazing. There was a really good live band which was fun but not overbearing. We also positively loved our waiter. Not only was he attentive but hysterical as well. We enjoyed his company. I would definitely go back. It was a great place for a date because we were there for 4 hours and were not rushed out at all. To summarize: Highly recommended.

Lou Russo: ALOR Cafe is a really WONDERFUL venue, for great food and drink, including excellent veggie cuisine" as well, and really fine artists performing there to. Chef Alex Orman does an exceptional job. The look is very different, not a rowdy bar, great for families too, beautifully laid out with huge windows all around. Cozy and intimate for enjoying the talented performers who play there, (ALOR is my bands "the S.I. Snugs" favorite place). Easy to get to, even by train from the Ferry Terminal, plus a FREE parking lot in the back.

I just called the number that they had advertised on their pamphlet it was busy, then it rang when I called again, and then it made an annoying noise like I was calling a fax number. I then went online and FINALLY got the number and when I called I told the lady I wanted to order food to my house and she said so we dont do delivery today mind you their pamphlet says "delivery 7 days a week 11 am-11pm" with service like that I rather just go to another restaurant that has it more together & Ill deal with less aggravation ! >: O

New management of the place is really shocking. Had the most disgusting Cobb salad that was sent back to the kitchen. The waiter got nasty and started to curse at us when we asked to remove the salad from the bill. No wonder why we were the only ones on a Saturday night. Very disappointing after coming to this place for years and enjoying the once great cafe. Bottom line: Bad food No more liquor license Beyond believe rude and unprofessional staff No catering ethics( salad came after the main dishes)

My husband and I had dinner here for the first time last Saturday and we were very impressed. The menu selections are unique which is what we always search for in a Staten Island restaurant instead of one of the countless and mostly mediocre Italian places. The food here is not specific to any region. It has influences of Eastern Europe, Balkan and even Asian. We love a menu we can explore and this is the place to do it. Every dish we tried was excellent.
