I have been going to the Elmwood since 1983 when I first came to Rochester for college. I have never really had a bad experience. The most recent visit is nothing different. It was very crowded but not too loud. You could easily carry on a conversation at your table without having to yell or strain to hear. We were greated right away and just as quickly had our first visit from our server. The menu has great variety from standard bar fare to outright meals. There was also a sheet of specials that offered even more variety. I had soup and a mahi mahi with mango salsa. Very good piece of fish and the salsa was really good. My dining companion had a cheeseburger club - just like it sounds a cheeseburger served like a club sandwich. He said it was excellent and that it reminded him of a certain fast food burger only better. The prices are reasonable for food and drink. The cost per person includes drinks (my friend likes his beer) so you really cant go wrong.

Ive been a frequent customer for over 20 years - currently stop in every week after golf league for drinks & dinner. The place has great energy. The bar area is great for mingling and rehashing the round, with good drink specials and first rate andwiches, delieverd with first name service by the staff. Love the addition of the craft IPA to the drink specials. The Elmwood plate, quesadillas and fish frys are awesome. You can stay updated on the latest sports scores on numerous TV screens. There of course are 2 other dining areas for a quieter atmosphere, and there is a spacious open air deck to enjoy the outdoors during the warmer months. You know the place has to be good when you have a hard time finding a parking spot in the middle of the week.

We relatively recently discovered the Elmwood Inn and very much enjoy the atmosphere, food, and staff. The old-school wood tables are great, its rarely too loud to have a conversation, the beer and food are consistently excellent, and the wait staff provides great service while having a good time. My wife and I both remember when the place opened, but we always thought it would be beyond our budget. We gave the Inn a try one night after becoming frustrated with the noise level at our former fave and were pleased to find that the prices are very reasonable, particularly the daily specials. Elmwood Inn is now a regular haunt of ours and some friends with whom we get together at the Inn at least every other week.

We live in the area, and have been going there almost weekly for the last year or so. Its an easy, comfortable place to be. Ive been there for business lunches and for dinner, and find that its a great place to meet friends for a meal or a snack; the food is really, really good and reasonably priced - with a great selection of sandwiches, salads, entrees, and daily specials, and the service is excellent. On the rare occasion that there is an error or question with our order, its cleared up quickly and cheerfully. Last time I was there, they were out of the beer we ordered, and the waiter made excellent suggestions.

Delicious food and good service indeed! I love the informal atmosphere of the place. I first found this place through a grad school event we organized here. They let us have our own room for a trivia night and helped us run it perfectly! I went back again with friends from tango after a late night lesson. They let us play our tango music and dance and the sweet waitress even danced with us once. Saying that, I do wish the prices were a bit lower since its so near our University and we students are always on a shoestring budget. I cant say Ill be a regular goer but this is the place Ill choose for a special night.

Elmwood Inn is one of our favorite places to go for a casual and tasty dining experience. Theres enough items on the menu that we enjoy that it is often that we have a hard time deciding, but usually mull over the decision while downing a Rohrbachs Scotch Ale. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are dependable, but the BLT, French dip, steak sandwiches are all good. Turkey Pita is our daughters favorite. When the weather gets colder, Ill be having the hot roast beef or the meatloaf and the French onion soup. With the rewards program, we often have enough perks to go for the steaks which a always perfectly cooked.

Had my favorite waitress, Amanda, again. Actually, Michaels wife, Susan, is writing this. He often brings home for me what I consider the BEST crabcakes in the area. The rainy, chilly day last week I visited, I was hoping for homemade soup. What I found was a slightly spicy, VERY tasty and unique sweet potato soup. Then of course I topped it off with one of the Elmwoods scrumptious desserts, (I think from Cheesy Eddies). The food here is great--in quality and variety, and just a little different from so many of Rochesters dining choices. Service always friendly and efficient, too.

Another good Friday night of dining at the Elmwood Inn. A favorite stop for my wife and I. A 20 minute drive from where we live in Fairport, N.Y. but the drive is always worth it!!...Weve never had a bad experience at the Elmwood Inn over the many years that we have had lunch or dinner there. We have always found the food and service to be very good and the atmosphere comfortable and friendly. A cant miss as far as were concerned. Also on Friday night their fish fry rocks the house!...Our most recent visit was more of the same...great service...great food....and great people.

We arrive as a group sit at the bar enjoy a few beers and eat the most excellent quesadillas. The group would also recommend the salads salmon and the black and blue salad. The beer selection is great. A selection that will satisfy most every beer taste. We go most every Monday night for football and basketball. TVs are plentiful. Warm and comfortable atmosphere with friendlily attentive staff. Disclaimer I worked there for 25 years now hang out there! I recommend asking about the Rewards card. No cost yet Great Savings. Who doesnt like a free Meal or a discount cupon.

Service and quality of food are always excellent. Love the historic atmosphere of the Inn. Their rewards program does keep us coming back. Its also nice to sit on their outside deck when the weather is nice which is what we did on our recent visit. We like the fish fry but wish there were alternative options to the sides with this entree such as a green salad and a good vegetable and without an extra charge, although we did not ask about it so dont know if we could have done that. Also the fish serving could be larger. But overall its a good place to eat.

I tried the Sirloin and Salmon combo for the first time. The salad was nice and fresh and you cant beat the blue cheese dressing. The sirloin was cooked to rare perfection. It was juicy and tender. The salmon was good, but not spectacular. The smashed potatoes had good flavor. My friend enjoyed the Chicken French. The most diasappointing part of the evening was that the Edmund Fitzgerald tap had run dry the evening before. That steak would have gone so well with the rich smoothness of an Edmund. Next time... Ill certainly be back again.
