DISABLED PEOPLE BEWARE! After repeated phone calls to Bazil Restaurant, I was able to reach a restaurant employee on Tuesday, early evening, to make birthday reservations for my father, (A WORLD WAR II VETERAN). I wanted to make my fathers birthday special and picked Bazils because I had eaten there previously and liked their food. I took great pains to relay that my father had severe arthritis and swelling in his legs, is dependent on a walker to walk short distances, and would need a table so he could get up and down. I was assured that the restaurant was completely handicapped accessible, there would be no problem accommodating him, and we were down for a table, party of 6 for Friday night (June 20th, 2014). When we arrived at 6:30 P.M., we were led to a booth (a booth that didnt look like it could fit 6 people comfortably at that). I objected to our accommodations, citing we had been promised a table. MY FATHER WAS LEFT TO STAND ON A WALKER FOR AN EXTENDED LENGTH OF TIME IN AN AISLE while I was attempting to remedy the situation with a few servers and a hostess. The hostess told me that they couldnt guarantee a table to customers. I relayed the situation and the promise that had been made to us on Tuesday when I made the reservation. After persistence, I was told we had to wait until they could see what they could do. Meanwhile, I wanted to get a chair for my father while we waited, but he told me one of the servers told him they were bringing him a chair -It never happened. We were eventually led to a table which we had passed on the way in, which had already been set up for 6 people, but had 8 chairs (chair at each end). ***My father had to stand on his walker throughout the entire wait, and he was made to feel that he was an imposition. After dinner was over, our server announced that she would be cutting up and serving the birthday cake. To avoid any further mishap, we requested that the birthday cake be taken out of the box, and put onto the table, so we could sing Happy Birthday to our father first. I called Bazil Restaurant on Sunday afternoon, June 22nd, 2014 to speak to the manager and was put in touch with someone named Eric who identified himself as the manager. In his response to the stated situation and my complaint, ERIC SAID IT WAS "UNFORTUNATE" AS HE UNDERSTOOD THAT WE WANTED TO MAKE OUR FATHERS BIRTHDAY SPECIAL, BUT WE NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND THAT ON FRIDAY NIGHT, THEY NEEDED TO USE EVERY CHAIR DUE TO THE VOLUME OF PEOPLE THAT COME IN. In regard to my observation of passing the table set for 6 on the way in, he stated that table could seat 8 or 9 people. He relayed the hostess and servers were directed by him to make use of every chair in the place. SO MUCH FOR TRYING TO HAVE A SPECIAL CELEBRATION FOR A MEMBER OF THE GREATEST GENERATION! I could have cried at my fathers reception. Although I like the food at Bazil Restaurant, I will not go back to a place where my father is not welcome.

I used to really enjoy Bazil. It was an upscale place with great food and even better service. After a while things began to suffer when they changed managers a bunch of times. The first strike were the rising prices, but for the food and service I was willing to pay it. Suddenly, they now sent out a giant pair of tongs and no longer mixed your salad for you in the back unless you asked. We went back again and now they have a salad bar that also has the bread sticks at it. The restaurant is somewhat larger sized so taking a walk to the salad bar is not something I would ever chose to do at a place that is supposed to be upscale. It was absolutely awful with the salad bar. The salad was soggy from sitting there, peoples gross hands were all over everything, little kids were touching bread sticks and putting them back. It was disgusting and an absolute pathetic stunt by a very poorly trained manager who knows nothing of an upscale experience. If I wanted to do all that walking, Id stay home which is exactly what well do from now own. Not only did they lose one customer, but theyve lost at least 50 from that one stunt because they put the salad bar where filled tables used to be. Its no wonder they cant make ends meet treating guests like theyre not even important enough to bring their bread sticks and salad to them. They make low end places look more classy and thats just disgraceful. Will never go back. Food was also horrid this time. Not nearly enough Alfredo on the pasta, it was watery, and the chicken was dried out like a tire. The waitstaff was also visibly downsized and overworked. Horrible horrible horrible manager. Fire him before he takes you down with him!

I have visited Bazil twice. The first time I was with my mother-in-law and her fiance during their visit from NC on a THURSDAY in June (with no reservation and no wait). We had a lovely, attentive waitress and a very nice table in the dining room. We started with the steamed clams and soups which were all delicious. We all enjoyed our entrees as well, I had the Tortellini Di Casa. The only thing I would say about it was that the prosciutto was cut way too thick. Overall a great atmosphere and great meal. Since my first trip to Bazil was great, I wanted my husband to try it. We made a reservation on a Friday night in July. As soon as we walked in we got one of those electronic vibrating pagers even though we were right on time for our reservation. We didnt wait long but we were then seated at the worst possible table in the restaurant. The booth was practically IN the kitchen, my husband is a chef and the last thing he wanted to hear during dinner were banging dishes and servers shouting "order in!". We could barely hear each other without yelling. I wouldve been more understanding had we not made a reservation. We had the family style salad which was good. It took quite awhile to get our meals, understandable on a Friday night, but when we got them they were certainly not up to par. The chicken madeira was alright but the pasta that came with it was plain and the asparagus was awful. I would recommend the funnel cake for dessert, it was the highlight of our meal. All in all, it was very busy on Friday so maybe it was the day of the week. I would never recommend dining there on a weekend.

It is unforgivable how my elderly disabled father on a walker was treated on Friday evening , especially considering that my sister made reservations by phone 3 days earlier, explaining that we needed a table because my father is disabled and can only walk short distances on a walker. This was supposed to be a family celebration for my fathers 87th birthday. The hostess tried to sit us at a small booth when we could see a table already set up for 6. We had to wait an extended period of time to obtain the original table which my sister reserved, citing my fathers disability after she persisted. My father was left standing holding onto his walker during this extended amount of time in pain No restaurant staff offered him a chair to sit on.. He continued to experience pain throughout the entire meal. We are heartbroken that what we intended to be a special birthday celebration for my father turned out to be a painful experience due to the apathetic and careless attitude of the hostess and staff. The manager, Eric, was unapologetic, stating that they need to fit in as many as they can at a table on a busy night and every chair counts. Why bother making reservations if this this is how they are honored ? This is how a restaurant treats a disabled senior citizen who is a World War 2 veteran !!! Especially for his birthday celebration !!!!
