The patrons of this restaurant/bar are mostly white. The servers are mostly hispanic. The food items on the menu are mostly hispanic. The taste of said "hispanic foods" are white. Let me explain. I ordered chicken tacos. I was served a very small tortilla with chicken and parsley and a red sauce with a lime on the side; no lettuce or tomato or cheese or beans. If you ate this blind-folded, you would actually think you might be eating an Indian-spiced taco. Not mexican or hispanic at all. Also ordered the chicken quesadilla. No seasoning on the chicken, just cheese and plain chicken. Portion size, you ask? Very little given for the price paid. This bar/restaurant appears nice but taste wise, it is not authentic mexican/hispanic food. Its a white persons take on mexican food. If you are hispanic, chances are you will not enjoy this food. If you are white, youll probably love this place. I would not recommend. I will not be eating here again.

My wife and I were so excited to finally try the place that is always SO packed, has over hour long waits, etc. Boy were we surprised. The ordering process is very unnatural, and awkward. They give you one tiny paper menu for the whole table, then you have to squint your eyes and fill out a tiny card to order. The tacos came all on one tray and they explain which ones which VERY briefly and run away. The taste is very bland. We got chicken, duck, chorizo, ribeye, and fish. Ribeye was the best , but still very bland. My wife liked the rice, the beans were more water than sauce, and very bland. The best part was churros. Although the chocolate sauce wasnt very tasty. I would not recommend this place unless drinking is all you care about. Their focus seems to be the bar not the food. I would recommend Halstead Ave Taqueria in Harrison if you want amazing tacos for a very similar price. Will not be a returning customer here.

Very good food, many fresh and light dishes. Real margaritas with lime presses right in front of you and well worth the wait. Not so great service (some servers busting their butts, some doing nothing at all, overall chaotic). Refreshing, cool, baja atmosphere, but the little stools and low tables get a bit tiresome. (Must be a nightmare for waitstaff bending down all the time to serve and clear.) Parking is terrible, then prepare to wait a while to get inside. (It will likely calm down like all new places do once the new wears off.) Mostly 30s/40s crowd. Restrooms while initially clean are completely inadequate for the capacity of this place, and become an utter disaster by late evening for both sexes. Would I go back? Oh, yes but on a quieter night or afternoon.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!! I wouldve given Bartaco five stars, but they took the lamb off the menu :( WHY!!??? It was the best thing there! Reason why i love this place? It caters to everyone. There is at least a few dishes each for people with dietary restrictions. Each dish tastes amazing, especially the LAMB. The drinks are awesome as well. Ive been recruiting my family from Long Island, Bronx, even Florida to this place. It may be the only reason why they come visit me, but it is well worth it. I even took my little sister there in which the environment isnt too crazy or too boring for her. I was able to get her a virgin mojito which she absolutely enjoyed. I love going to Bartaco all year round. Just please! I beg of you! BRING THE LAMB TACOS BACK!!!

Great first experience at Bartaco. I had the portabella tacos and the guac. The tacos are very flavorful and unique (not your standard meat, lettuce, cheese, etc.) and come in a soft shell. These are like gourmet tacos, or whatever you call them, and plus its $7 for 3 of them. The chips that come with the guac were these large round crispy tortillas. Like really big. That was kinda unique. Both the tacos and the guac were really good and fresh. I could see myself frequent this place while Im working in the area. Now, I did take out, so I cant comment too much on the restaurant, but the hostess seemed really nice and everyone was very nice. Also, the ambiance was really cool. Great bar area and it even had a nice outdoor seating area.

This place is phenomenal. Great places like this come with long waits sometimes. I went on a Monday, both times. It took an hour to be seated the 1st time and the 2nd time, we walked right in. The place should not be given a star based on wait time. And if it is crowded with a long wait, you should already know youre in for some good food. The food is amazing and the margaritas are the best Ive ever had! If you want fresh, delicious food, its totally worth the wait. Youll be satisfied with anything you choose on their menu. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Cant wait to go back this week! I would give this place more stars if I could. A+

We waited an hour and a half for a table, and they tried to seat us (six grown people) at a tiny table at knee level. We requested a table that we could actually fit our legs under and they accommodated, probably because we had waited so long (at one point they told us theyd lost our name). The food was okay, but overpriced, and everything came at once with no indication of which tacos were which, so we were left to pick through trays of tacos to figure out which were which. Not a great system. The drinks were good though. Dont go on a Saturday night, especially when the weather is nice. It was a mob scene. Not planning on returning.

The place is great, the food as well. The very annoying thing is that you cannot make a reservation. You have to go there, ask for a table and wait for ever before to seat and eat. The last time I went there I did wait for more than one hour (this place is very crowded even in the week days). If you dont have an USA ID you wont have any alcoholic beverage, they do require a passport, they wont accept any other kind of IDs (which is crazy because I dont carry my passport around bars and restaurants). Eventually you will spend a nice evening with friends in a nice place with good cocktails/beers and food.

Things you should get: everything. No really, the lamb tacos are probably my fave but everything from the chicken down to the veggie cauliflower ones are delish. All are flavorful and you generally don’t even need the multiple sauces you can top them off with (but you should because the sauces are also really great). Of course, it’s a popular place as it should be, so be prepared to wait. You can call an hour before for reservations, but even then, you’ll find yourself waiting at least 45-40 minutes, which isn’t unbearable with the proper margarita and company.

I heard a lot about this place for about a year now, It was good.. the decor was just lovely and I did like the styling of the place. It was busy when I went and sometimes I feel like I was unnoticed, although the staff were friendly and kind, there were not enough people to construct the chaos. The food was good, nothing too special or too fancy, it didnt feel like a real Mexican restaurant. The drinks were good though! If I were to go back, I would skip the food and head to the drink menu.
