Tasty authentic soba/udon noodle soup and bento boxes. The quality of the food was top-notch. Even the simplest things such as the green tea and seaweed salad were the best Ive ever had! The staff were friendly, courteous and instructive. We were given helpful instruction on the proper way to eat the sukiyaki the "Japanese way." We were visiting for a long week-end but we would have enjoyed some of their other events such as the calligraphy or flower arranging classes. Music lovers would enjoy their live music nights. This place is a "must-go-to" if you are visiting the Hudson Valley area!

Food was tasty, but waitress was not clear about our preferences or didnt clarify things about the menu. My friend said he did not like seaweed and 3 more items came out that were either originally cooked with seaweed or still had seaweed in it. I ordered a miso soup before dinner, but she still tried charging me for a 2nd miso that came with dinner. Why would I want that much miso soup? Just include the first soup I got as part of my dinner combo. Weak service takes off 2 stars for me.

The best "real" Japanese noodles and more restaurant. Run by a Japanese husband and wife who are very friendly and chatty and make you feel welcome in their establishment. I go here at least once a month. They also have Japanese movie nite, live music nites and talks. Hidden in a small strip mall right off the turnpike in the bustling area of New Paltz. Nice to go alone or in groups. They even made me a Japanese dish that wasnt on the menu!

This restaurant is extremely authentic, from the decor to the many menu options. The bubble tea is a must! One of the best Ive ever had! This restaurant moved to a new location and has increased menu options since. The owner is a kind spirited woman who has put a lot of love into the restaurant. I highly recommend this place for family dinner, a dinner date, or a night out with friends. You wont be disappointed!

One of the best restaurants in New Paltz, and THE place to go for authentic amazing Japanese food. Perfect in the winter for a soup to warm you up, or go in the summer and have a cold soba dish or one of there many dinner combos. I tend to stop in regularly just for a $2 onigiri and some miso soup. Be advised, dinner is somewhat pricey, but lunch is pretty decent. This is a place that must not be missed.

Amazing authentic Japanese noodle shop. The side dishes and sake also live up to the five stars. Been to the restaurant at both locations, and have never been disappointed. Try the buta kim chi udon, and the gyoza if your not sure what to get! As of my last visit, they have no credit card machine. Hopefully that will get fixed but as of this review--cash or check only.

the real deal japanese tampo-po-esque noodle shop experience. excellent soba and udon dishes served in a relaxed open space, in an architecturally challenged building. service is polite, but careful preparation in the kitchen means longer than expected waits. bring a copy of shogun to read while youre waiting, and prepare for simple japanese style eloquence in eating.

My boyfriend and I love going there - It is extremely good!!!! But we were told by some friends that it looks boarded up and closed... for good. I really hope this is not true because it really seemed like they were picking up with business and the food is out of this world! Please tell me it is still open!!!

Gomen Kudasai is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants around. Their dishes are incredibly flavorful and unusual. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this for people who are looking for extraordinary Japanese cuisine. The owners, Oshita Kazuma and his wife are also Japanese.

Went because of the reviews. Found it universally bland. I really dont understand why people rated it so high. It was edible but not enjoyable. Definitely wish we went somewhere else. Service was good so I debated between 2 and 3 stars. Probably more like 2.5.

The only traditional Japanese Udon/Soba soup joint that I know of in the Hudson Valley and the food and service is great! This place should definitely be on your list of you enjoy Japanese fare and dont want to travel to NYC to get it.

Every thing there is authentically Japanese, local and organic. The noodle soups are terrific and the owners are super friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share tidbits on everything from soba to the next flower arranging class.

Superb, authentic Japanese cousin. Flavors were spot on. Potato salad, gyoza, udon, tempura, and fried chicken, all very good. Location was meh, in a strip mall, but that was ok for us as it was easy access off of 87.

My band has played and eaten here several times. Nice relaxed place, good food. Where else can you eat authentic Japanese food, watch old Japanese movies, listen to a jazz or bluegrass band.

One of the best Japanese places I have ever been to. As a snobby NYC native my expectations were tempered but my gosh this place is GREAT. Note: only ate vegan dishes

Indulge in some hot house sake, yaki udon and catch some live music. The owners are friendly and staff is very attentive. Most dishes can be prepared vegan as well!

Terrible service and the food was subpar. Our waitress denied us twice some food for whatever reason. Its not horrible, but I wouldnt go there again.

Food is good. Giving three stars because the stopped taking cards, its now a cash or check place only. Its 2017 people! This is super inconvenient!

Awesome fresh ingredients. Organic and Non-GMO options. Authentic menu items that are tough to find north of NYC. Japanese owned and staffed.

excellent is my best description, too bad I live in northern Dutchess I will have to do with once a month to experience their full menu.
