I drive into Red Hook, NY from CT with my daughter several times a year. We often pass through Millerton in the early evening on our drives and stop at the Oakhurst Diner for dinner. The Diner from the outside looks like the most comfy and inviting spot. I really wanted to like this place and Ive given it far too many chances because I love the way it looks, the menu is interesting and eclectic and Ive have had a couple of decent meals there. But the ever so hip staff are always uninviting and unfriendly, which is something I might be able to get past if the food were consistently good, but its not. The only consistent thing at this diner is the wait staffs bad attitude. I made what will be my last stop there tonight. Our meal came out fast, within less than 10 minutes of our ordering it, because none of it was fully cooked. I had Eggs Benedict with raw English muffins and hash browns that tasted like they had been sitting in old grease on the grill for a couple of days. My daughter ordered a corn dog with a salad from the kids menu. The corn dog was ice cold and inedible.I told the staff about this and after offering no apology, they informed me that they were only going to charge me $3.50 for the sad little side salad that came as part of her disgusting meal, as if they were actually doing me a favor.

10 min after asking for our check, still no check. Instead our waitress was talking with two other waitresses as we put our coats on and asked again. Our waitress seemed surprised of the request especially when I reminded her that we asked for the check 10 min prior. That irked one coworker into giving dirty looks. Not appreciating dirty looks, I let her know that Id be giving that detail in my review. Dirty look waitress wasnt done.. She came out the back door to lecture us on respecting service industry professionals. Way off the mark we listened and asked if she was done. That set her off to the next level telling us that people like us shouldnt return. Thats a deal I replied. If you go there, tread carefully with the entitled millenial wait staff when requesting the check.

I think the former reviewer may have visited the Oakhurst when it was under other ownership and fallen on bad times... It had fallen into decay but was purchased by a local with a big dream (we met one of the owners on our first trip there)..Yay! That promising vacant dive has been revived into a modern beauty. The food is great , service is awesome and the ambiance if fitting for a charming upstate town like Millerton. Its the real deal...

Enjoyed a great meal there on Sunday afternoon. Food was excellent, as was the service. We had our small dog with us, so the outdoor seating was perfect. The waiter even brought out a bowl of water! Burger was great, meatloaf should not be missed. Ingredients were farm-to-table fresh. We will be back!

We ordered a turkey club with kimchi and banh mi with fries. The club was fine. The banh mi was just some pork with soy sauce slathered with heavy mayo. The fries were soggy. The kimchi had lost its crispness. I wouldnt venture farther than the burger if I came back, but Im sure it would be a fine burger.

Delicious traditional diner food with other interesting and unique options. Some interesting Asian undertones that make dining here a unique and exciting experience. Service is excellent as well. Truly a hidden gem, so glad to have found it on my drive through town.

Its cozy and quaint. Old school diner with outdoor seating as an option. Waitstaff are all nice. Food is so so and its on the expensive side for dinner food. Sometimes the food is great, sometimes its bland and on the cold side.

If you enjoy paying New York City prices for portion sizes that are nothing to write home about, then this is your place. On top of that, service was slow, despite sitting at the bar, a small crowd, and the small portion size.

The staff was courteous and professional. The service was quick. I had the tuna melt on rye and while the tuna was nicely seasoned it was dry. The fries we crispy but had zero taste.

Its not your typical Jersey diner fare, but it does offer decent dishes. If it going to serve a banh mi, it needs to use a nice light, crispy shell and airy French baguette.

I loved this diner. Run by women, so clean, efficient, and interesting menu. My omelet was perfectly cooked. Even the coffee was great, which is rare in a diner.
