I went to the lindencrest diner tonight at around 11:40, not realizing that they close at 12. When we first walked in, the waitress just said "hold on," then asked the manager if they were still seating people or if it was just take out only. He told her to seat us and she did. Not even 2 minutes after we were seated the waitress came over and asked if we were ready to order. Not even having enough time to get through the first page on the menu we told her to come back. Again about 2 more minutes after that she came back again asking if we were ready. I got the impression she was in a hurry so me and the people i were with made a rushed decision. We ordered and she told us that they closed at 12, and she left, never asking us for a drink order. 10 minutes later 3 of the 4 dishes came out and were rudely thrown on the table. (later on the waitress claimed they were hot and she was just trying to get them down quickly... um there are tricks to not burning yourself with plates) 5 minutes later my food came out. by this time it was about 11:50. She came by asking if everything was all right and before i could ask her face to face for a glass of water (because again we had no drinks besides the water that the bus boys gave us.) I had to shout across the room for another glass of water. Once she brought the water back to the table she asked us if we were paying by cash or credit. I told here we didnt know because we were still eating and never saw the bill. She then came by with the check about 5 minutes later asking if we were paying by credit card if we could pay now. I WAS NOT EVEN FINISHED WITH MY FOOD AND WAS ALREADY BEING ASKED TO PAY FOR MY MEAL? I said sure gave her my card and she came back with a receipt. Now I am usually a very generous tipper but I was very uncomfortable with my service so I decided to only tip $.50 on a $36 bill. I also wrote on the bill "Dont rush people". What was even worse was that she was standing 1 foot away from the table to sign the check and for me to hand it to her. Now in all my years of being a server and also being a patron at a restaurant, I HAVE NEVER seen a waitress or waiter nor have I ever waited at the table to see what I was tipped or what they were tipped. RUDE! As I handed it to her because leaving it on the table was not an option, I simple leaned over explain that rushing a table was not professional. She then started to get loud saying that she did not rush us. My girlfriend then she did rush us and called her a not such a nice word. Very uncalled for but it happened. Now being in the customer service business, you should be able to handle stuff like that. WRONG! She then started cursing back calling my girlfriend names. I escorted my girlfriend out and walked back in and just wanted to explain to the manager what had happened. I very nicely and calmly said "I do apologize for the profanity, I just wanted to explain that i was very uncomfortable tonight while eating." While trying to explain what had happened the waitress came over and started yelling at me in front of the manager. EVERYTHING THAT CAME OUT OF HER MOUTH WAS A LIE! saying that she asked for our drink order, and that she politely told us as we sat that they closed at 12. Yeah, no she did not. She told us after we ordered that they closed at 12. I then asked the manager if we ordered our food before 12 and we were still eating at 12 if they would kick us out. The waitress then jumped in again out of turn, loudly saying "WE CLOSE AT 12!" The manager was very nice but not managing his staff very well at all. I would have removed the employee and had a conversation with the customer to hear what they had to say. I GOT 5 words in the whole time. VERY VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! How embarrassing on the management.

My Golden rule when going to a diner is keep it basic .I never order anything other than eggs or a burger.its a diner if you want pasta or meat loaf etc......go to a restaurant..I never had a problem with my eggs or my burger there its pretty hard to screw that up... but i will NEVER !! go to this diner again,i went there in the early afternoon around 2 pm after the lunch "busy" time had passed ...I asked the hostess very politely if i could sit by the window in a booth..she gave me such an attitude as if i was taking up a booth for a larger imaginary group of people..but what really annoyed me was she then walked 20 feet away and i could hear her complaining about me to the busboy...if you want to talk about me at least do it where i cant hear you..another pleasant experience i had was with the angry little man with the napoleon complex who i assume is the manager.Again with in ear shot i could hear him belittling a young waitress very loudly.He is such a rude angry man.I loathe rude mean people.The last time i was there I ordered my food from another waitress who was a very pleasant and attentive.But when i saw how napoleon was treating the staff i left 5 bucks for her and a note that read sorry you service was great but your boss is an A**hole, I feel bad if you have to work there.never again trust me PLEASE go to the Lindenhurst diner just a few blocks east from those rude freaks at Lindencrest..the food is great at Lindenhurst diner and the staff are always nice as far as ive seen.. mmm, Iam unsure where to begin.my Husband and I have been there a total of three times hoping the service would get better but unfortunately that didint happen.Each time we had the same wonderful waitress.The first time she gave us a complete attitude because we wanted to order after waiting 15 minutes .It might have been the fact she was at a table full of guys an was straddling one.finally after ordering our appetizers she proceeded to throw the warm plates at us. so she could return to the table an sit on another mans lap.The second time we hoped for a clean slate (that didnt happen) .well we didnt receive our drinks until after my husband finshed his meal after asking an being ignored even by the older man.After asking twice we didnt anything funny floating in our drinks .Beside the fact my whole order was wrong .(I only ordered a veggie burger with chedder cheese a side of fries an a small salad no salad dressing) I didnt think it was I asked for anything crazy. while waiting for an additional plate an soda as she ignored me again she proceeded to dance an talk with the bus boys. I was livid when she threw the plate at me again.By the third time we went back an where told no else could serve us . she approached the table with a wonderful attitude an walked away a mid sentence to get herself a drink .We had to leave right away to NEVER to return. Its so great to know that the manger cares how his customers are treated.Its also amazing how the manger lets his employees act . This is Long Island there are many mediocre diners with bad service.
