The Star Diner is an absolute classic, small, hometown diner. Compared to the massive Diners in the Hicksville/ Plainview/ Syosset areas, the Star Diner has to be number one. The breakfast options are excellent. Lunch and Dinner are great as well. The Burgers are extremely juicy and have a decent size to them. The Moussaka has an authentic greek taste to it, perfect to satisfy my Moussaka cravings. The Desserts are not homemade or baked on premises, however, they are wonderful! Cant go wrong with the Carrot Cheesecake! Oh wait- the best part of the Star Diner is the staff. The wait staff is so friendly and make you feel at home. Debbie is the epitome of a classic diner waitress- interacting on a personal basis with virtually all of the customers while at the same time delivering great service. She is just one example of the exceptional wait staff at the Star Diner.

Unwelcoming place for new customers. Not sure if because we didnt look local or they just dont want new customers?! We were 2. Not so hungry so ordered 1 meal to share and said well have desserts after: - meal came split beautifully. Was thinking "what an awesome service!". Then realized at check time there was a charge for that. I have no issue with such charge but would have been nice if waitress told us. -after meal arrived waitress did not stop by for long time until she came with the check! Rudely saying "you dont want desserts anymore, right?" !!! I said no. I didnt want to spend another minute in there. First time to try this diner and definitely the last

TERRIBLE SERVICE!! Would give it 0 stars if possible. During the middle of their dinner at the Star Diner, my mom had to escort my elderly father to the bathroom because of mobility problems and when they returned a few minutes later, they found their table cleared and other people sitting there! No apologies, nothing. The manager was indifferent and tried to blame my parents thinking they had left early. He later tried to make amends by offering them a free cup of coffee. Goes to show how little they value their customers. Disgraceful.

Staff always giving creepy vibes. Dont like going here wearing a dress or shorts bc I feel like the bus boys are always looking. One time I even had to ask one of them if they needed something bc he was staring for so long. Food is ok, would prefer getting breakfast food here, the other stuff is only ok.

Moussaka was actually lasagna. ...tiny too. One waiter who wasnt knowledgeable. Out of eggplant oarmesan. Bus boy knew more than waiter. Old desserts and spoiled pumpkin pie. Side Greek salad however was good. Not much seafood options. .....cheap prices for cheap tasting food.

I been in Long Island for abuot 3 weeks here for a business trip and decided to go Star Diner. Noticed they won the best diner in Long Island in 06 and 08. Had the special and it was great. The service was great as well. I will return.

The food is pretty good. I go at least once a week to get my ham omelette, home fries and toast. The hot chocolate is rich with whipped cream and so tasty, not watered down like some of the watered down ones at other diners.

In my home town people have strong loyalties to their diner. So when we all go out as a group we have to go to the next town over to a diner everyone can agree on. Omelets are the way to go.
