Aaheli is a great option for Forest Hillers who want very good Indian food for dinner but dont want to venture to Jackson Heights. The lamb madras, bharwan okra, and fish tikka were the best dishes. The lamb was soft and so flavorful, cooked in the coconut curry sauce. This we finished very quickly! It was so good that we kept passing the dish around until it was gone! And the okra was perfectly cooked, not gummy or slimy. It was crunchy, savory and fried in a combo of addictive Indian spices. The fish was coated in flour and lightly fried. The fish was perfectly tender and cooked. We kept eating the fish and saying This is soo good! The restaurant is a small restaurant for Queens, seats approx 40. The hostess was the waitress that night. She was very sweet. We ordered the masala dosa, mango chicken, lamb madras, afghani fish tikka, coconut rice, bread basket, bharwan okra, one salty lassi, and one mango lassi. The food took a while to come out but I believe they cooked almost everything from scratch. Except for the mango chicken which tasted a little dry. And unfortunately, there was a miscommunication and she gave us 2 salty lassis instead of 1. Make sure you check your receipt! Otherwise, we had a great time and we loved the dishes! There was so much food that we all had lunches for the next day!

Weve been fans of the Manhattan Aaheli for several years and were thrilled to find they had opened a second branch just minutes from home in Forest Hills. Food is great, portions are good, prices a bit high but worth it for the quality. Favorites are Shrimp Malabar - I just want to slather myself in the sauce its that good (I dont even like shrimp but the shrimp gives it a great flavor) Baby Okra with spices - it says stuffed but its not but really delicious - make sure to indicate NOT spicy as it can be very hot otherwise The lamb dishes are great with very tender tasty chunks of lamb Butter Chicken and Chicken Makani - delish Paleek Paneer - really delicious spiced spinach with excellent homemade paneer cheese - its a winner ! Lamb biryani is a large portion loaded with tender succulent lamb and full of delicious fragrant spices like pieces of cinnamon bark, cardamom seeds and more. Really superb rendition of this classic dish. Masala dosa the oversized crispy lentil pancake stuffed with Indian spices mashed potatoes is delicious. Although their coconut chutney is good it isnt the style I prefer of mostly coconut with some mustard seeds. Another dish which blows us away is the black dal. It is the most flavorful well seasoned dal Ive ever had in a restaurant

I ordered 3 naan rooti and it was $3 each. I only received one. So they owe me $6 but I called and spoke to the manager and they could not deliver my missing food or return my money. And the food was disgusting. my husband vomited afterwords. And it was all vegetarian food. Like how can someone make vegetables so bad that vegetarians vomit? Also I was very unsatisfied with the way manager handled this situation. As if I was waisting his time and he was very rude.

heaven on earth! and its called Aaheli! Food is amazing and fresh. Ive tried all the Indian restaurants in Jackson Heights the mecca of Indian food in new york, but nothing comes close to Aaheli. Try their all you can eat buffet (11:30am-3:00pm) at only 10.95! its a bargain. my favorite is chicken tikka. you must try their vegetarian dish Alo matar (vegetable cooked in creamy sauce) that is to die for! did i mention you can bring your own wine?

Excellent Indian food. Lunch Buffet is a bargain and the best way to discover which of their dishes you like best. The Naan keeps coming out fresh, there is a constant re-stocking of the Chicken Tika Masala and the different curry chicken and vegetarian dishes are always tasty. The chicken here is white meat that is soft and never chewy which is why Ive abandoned a few of the other local restaurants since Aahelis opening.

Its been 1.5 hours since I ordered and still no food. I called them after an hour, the guy said- its on the way should be there any minute. I again called the guy said, the driver got stuck in main street flushing like seriously? What is your guy doing in flushing when delivery is in Rego Park.... They are bunch of liars.. dont trust on delivery times at all.

Great food and EXCELLENT service. Was in the area and was looking for a good Indian place and found this place. Everything tasted authentic. We just missed the lunch buffet 11am-3pm, 7 days a week... Would like to come back one day for the lunch.

Nice little place. Chicken tikka masala was fresh as well as the bread (Naan). Lastly, the rice pudding was excellent. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the chicken was a little dry. I will go back so as to try other items.

The buffet is really good value (with tip/tax its about $13) and very delicious! Staff are always friendly and attentive. Favorite dishes: lamb curry, eggplant fritters, chicken tikka masala, onion bhajis. Come hungry!
