We only stopped in for a snack, so we ordered a few dishes. We hoped for the Yak Momo, as thats what theyre known for, but--probably because yak is imported--they were out of yak. The waitress recommended the Chicken Sha- Momo, steamed. They were served in a bamboo steamer, beautifully formed dumplings. However, the dumpling skin was too thick and slightly tough, the filling had minimal flavor other than ginger. We were unimpressed compared to other momo weve had. We also had the Sha- Bhaley, again beautifully formed, a pastry filled with ground beef. The dough was ok, pretty thick and well fried (not too oily), but the filling was flavorless. Fortunately the table had a typical assortment of sauces. The Avocado & Vinegar (green) sauce was our favorite, a fantastic sauce. The Tomato & Sesame (red) sauce was pretty tasty as well, but not interesting. We found the pastry was a bit better when we opened them and added salt, they were just dramatically underseasoned. Finally, we also opted for the Gyuma, a beef blood sausage. While not everyone loves blood sausage, we do and have eaten our fare share. This was not terrible, but non-notable. The skin was tough and we had to spit it out. The inside was tender and had a nice flavor. All-in-all we found the restaurant much cleaner than the average in the neighborhood, the service was attentive and friendly (although it was fairly empty when we went). The price was a bit high, but the portions were large. We wont be back, especially knowing better Nepalese options on the same block.

This is the 2nd time I have tried Tibetan cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of Tibetans and Nepalese eating here so it is a good sign. We ordered a few of the popular dishes on the menu although there is a $9.95 lunch buffet being offered here as well. The chicken lollipop on the appetizer menu is a must. It is crispy, juicy and comes with a nice sweet and spicy mustard sauce. The Lianphing is close to Northern Chinese dish called "Cold Skin" or "Liang Pi" but I prefer the Chinese version because the texture is firmer. Nonetheless, it is a light and spicy cold appetizer. For entree, we tried their Yak momo, or Yak dumplings in both fried and steamed version. Yak is a new type of meat I tried for the first time. It is gamey actually. I think the momos are a little on the dry side; I am not sure if it is because Yak is lean? Yet, the flavor is great especially with their house sauce. We also ordered "Cheley", which is a spicy stir fry beef tongue with bell peppers dish that shares similar flavor with some of the Szechuan dishes I have had before. They also give you this thick bread to go with the cheley or your meal perhaps. It is pretty close to a deep dish consistency. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant for its unique flavors and it seems that the Tibetans here have approved so!

I do not eat out at any Nepalese restaurants because I love my Moms cooking so much that I refuse to believe that there are people out there who can actually cook better Nepalese food than my Mom. Woodside cafe is an exception though. The food here is excellent. The word excellent does not even do any justice. From waiwai sadeko to the pink cream sauce momo (dumpling in their special sauce) and the chicken lollipop and chicken thali (I am a meat lover) and... I can just go on forever. They make the best Lassi in town girl. I usually get the plain ones but the mango one is very tasty too. The consistency is just right(some lassi can be too heavy and thick). They have set up a new bar recently (a little bit of booze never hurts) and the drink I would recommend to everyone is piña colada. It is so gooood! I come here once a week and my madre is very disappointed that I love their Momos more than hers now. Lol. Get the Momos guys! Kothe and Pink cream momo are the best with a lot of their chili on top or side or anywhere. YUMZ I can literally feel it in my mouth now. Brb! Almost forgot, the service here is really superb! Get your purse/wallet and get going STAT to this place!

Before even entering this restaurant you are made aware of the HEAVY 2 paneled doors that you have to pry open to get into this place. Once you get in it is dim lit with the bar located at the far end left side of the restaurant. I came here on a slow night that got quite busy within 20 minutes of ordering my meal. This was a Wednesday. *** MUST TRY: Lamb Sekuwa has an excellent gamey taste to it. The taste was much gamey than the Halal or Greek versions of lamb. It comes with puffed up rice which I didnt know it was edible but they were. *** Yak Momo is only seasonal and you would have to check using either Google or ask the waiter/waitress if Yak is currently in season. If it is then you have yourself on of the most gamiest meats that you will probabaly ever taste, in a good way. It was also very tender. *** Beef Shapta which is sliced beef with garlic and other spices is an excellent compliment to your carnivorous dining. Bhaley Tibetan Bread is offered throughout dining and it is best described as a bread with sweet taste that is soft and doughy on the inside. *** Definitely planning a return trip to eat here. You should too if you havent.

Drove all the way from New Jersey to Himalayan Yak. Been to this place three years ago. Was very good then. Now the quality has traded in for quantity. Place is very busy and the sad part is waitress dictate what you can have and what you cannot have. We wanted another pot of Tibetan tea. Our waitress shot it down as the kitchen is closed for tea. Later she explained that they have to boil water and there is no man power in the kitchen just to make another pot of tea. My daughter wanted ice cream at the end for desert which was on the menu. That request was turned down as well. they wanted to rush us out since there were other patrons waiting to get in. The place was very busy and that is very good for the business, but quality of service and food should not take a hit. the Daal we ordered was watery and tasted horrible. Tibetan sausage was dripping with oil. obviously the oil was not at cooking temperature. And the second bottle of water never came. I wish the business luck but I will not be going back to this place.

The mystery of Himalayan food solved! Well, sort of. Were guessing when this restaurant opened Yak was more readily available but unfortunately its a seasonal ingredient as we didnt get any. What I appreciated most were the video screens on the wall explaining what Himalayan culture was all about, the cool copper lined water cups (though they were not very well cleaned inside), and the decent service. The tasted basically like Chinese food in general so if youre Chinese like me and expect something thats wow thats so different youre not really gonna get that. Nevertheless its good. The momos (dumplings) I found a bit dry so I guess the beef was lean or perhaps it was actually a little overcooked as we waited a while for those. Ill certainly come back for their lunch buffet and hope theres of the exotic stuff like the buffalo and yak.
