Good sushi is hard to find in Las Cruces so I will be as specific as I can in case you are on the hunt for something not too disappointing. 1) Presentation: In sushi, presentation is everything. I ordered to go so I understand that has its challenges, but most sushi places can swing it ok. I recieved my roll basically dropped into a Styrofoam to go box. There was no ginger or wasabi in the box and the slices were all over the place. No chopsticks or soy sauce were included or offered. 2) They have fortune cookies! This a BIG RED FLAG when you are scouting a for Japanese food. 3) The food . . . Here is where I really hope they read their own reviews . . . USE CHILLED RICE! I ordered a Volcano Roll. It is typically served warm (and smothered in spicy sauce, but again presentation issues), but it is prepared with chilled rice so that the rice doesnt become too soggy. The roll itself was very tasty, but greatly diminished by the experience. Aqua Reef, if you are reading this: chill your rice amd have someone QB togo orders (oh and lose the fortune cookies). Since we are in Las Cruces, and their sushi didnt taste bad or make me sick, I will probably be back but not beforw I try a few more options.

If you want everything but sushi, I highly recommend this place. Their Bento boxes, appetizers, etc are to die for. But if you actually want sushi, I do not recommend Aqua Reef. Their fish is too fishy, their seaweed paper tastes like they went right out to the ocean to pick it up, and it was, overall, a huge disappointment. They only had two Nigiri sushi worth buying, and I wouldnt recommend any of the rolls. Not just because theyre way overpriced, but they leave a LOT to be desired. The waitstaff is delightful and very attentive, the restaurant is cute, I love the aqua bar, I was just extremely let down by the actual sushi. Id go back, but only for the sides and dinners.

I have been to many, many sushi and Japanese restaurants and have even worked in a sushi restaurant in St. Louis. This place gets 5 of 5 stars in my book anytime. I absolutely loved the specialty sushi rolls. The Dragon roll is "Ichiban" The Wagyu beef cooked on a hot rock was not only super tasty but way fun too. I loved their shooter sampler, and I have to mention the Green Chile Tempura, always a favorite. This place rocks and for my money it is the "best restaurant in Las Cruces! Cant wait to go back. Only one problem...So much to eat...so little time!

I recently visited for lunch, yes thats right lunch and was surprised at the great value of their 5.98 lunch special. They open at11:30-2:00 and it was awesome! The chef prepared a coconut curried chicken rice bowl with veggies and it was simply great. I also heard that they are going to start a Sunday brunch, and if you are looking for the perfect place for that special person to take out for Valentines Day Aqua Reef is the place to go. Check out their impressive menu online, facebook or twitter.

Being from the Northwest and traveling extensively, I have eaten a lot of sushi. Intrigued to try the local fare and eat at restaurant that offered sushi, I ordered many speciality rolls and a few of my favorite nigiri items. The sushi rice was poorly made, perhaps made many days before and refridgerated and the fish did not taste fresh either. Although the combinations of green chili and spicy sauces were original the complete lack of fresh rice and fish made the rolls inedible.

Deliciously fresh. It was freezing out , so we started with the saki sampler to warm up. BEST Squid Salad ever! Mmmm Sesame Tataki Tuna, and the Signapore Seafood noodles were delicious. We we so delighted with everything, we even got dessert: cheese cake spring rolls. WOW !! Ive gotta say this exceeded out expectations, even with great Travelocity reviews! And it was moderately priced for GREAT food. Okay atmosphere - friendly staff.

Unique and delicious food. They have a wide range of sushi and rolls and other expensive items, but they also have excellent cheap food. My favorite is the chicken strip bento box, which is really on a different level from any other chicken strip youve ever had. One 14$ bento box is enough for my wife and me, which is an insanely good value. Tatsu creates some truly unique and delicious recipes, and this is a great place to enjoy them.

Sushi is one of the joys of our lives. We celebrated my husbands 70th birthday at Aqua Reef, and found the staff well informed and very friendly. We both ate our favorite: Chiraschi, and found the amount of fish fresh and varied. The rice tasted very good. We were also pleased by the peti creme brules for dessert. We will stop in at this restaurant whenever we pass through Las Cruses. Very creative and well done.

Whether you have never had sushi or you are a big time sushi fan this place is amazing. I have been here many times before and always walked away more satisfied than the last time I went. Everything here is super fresh and amazingly presented. I only have one complaint about this place and that is the size. Very small. It is nice if you can get in without that many people, but during a dinner rush its too crowded.

I was very disappointed! Ordered the paella, this was no paella! It had no flavor. The menu said there was saffron in the dish but there was no saffron whatsoever. The scallops and mussels were tiny and poor quality. The rice was advertised as jasmine but was not jasmine but more like uncle bens. The portion size was very small. They are over priced for the quality and the portions.

This place is crap for sushi. The portions were extremely small. I had to go eat somewhere else after I left there. The oysters omg I never knew oysters came so small and for the price it was ridiculous. There definitely is not a Japanese person in the back making this stuff. Huge disappointment. Ill refer this place to someone I dont like.

Pathetic way to operate a restaurant. Unable to get sushi in a sushi restaurant because its too busy. Substitute hostess, server, and busboy with dishwashing staff. Thank God they comped our meal or I would have been even more disappointed with the pricing and the general inadequacies we experienced.

Came here for dinner tonight and was not disappointed. The crab rangoons have more stuffing than most places and are very creamy. I got the spider roll and the tempura shrimp roll. I asked for some substitutions and they were very accommodating. It was the best sushi Ive ever had. Money well spent.

Definitely one of the better restaurants in Las Cruces, both in terms of cuisine and atmosphere. If you want something different from the usual Asian-American "fast food" variety, this is a wonderful place to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal with professional service.

This place was okay. It was quite pricey and we had to wait forever for our bill to be delivered even though there was only 1 other table during the time we were there. The rolls werent as good as they had been in the past. Maybe we went on the wrong night.

Normally my first stop when traveling to Las Cruces. The sushi is excellent (please remember that this is New Mexico) and the other items on the menu tend to be really good. I have always been happy with the service.
