I have gone to Bombay nearly a dozen times over the last eight years or so, and while their cuisine was never super great, with Shreejis closing Ive decided to give them one last chance (RIP Shreeji and your heavenly, golden naan). I have stubbornly wished for this restaurant to be greater than what it is: an over-priced hole in a strip mall that offers subpar food and stern service. Shreejis original quarters were small, when it was located on New Jersey Avenue in Absecon, though the atmosphere maintained a general friendliness and ease. Thus, it is no excuse that a restaurant that is slightly larger, and redecorated even, haunts its customers with pangs of discomfort, which are sure to culminate in full-fledged heartburn. The waiters are noteworthy for their cold demeanor and inattentiveness, in spite of the fact that there are about six tables total for them to keep tabs on. The dusty mauve tablecloths exhibit, perhaps, more charm than the staff. Bad attitudes aside, the food does not make up for such shortcomings. Portions are grossly overpriced, and the flour-y naan that is served comes at extra charge. The lunch buffet is still no bargain, as half-empty troughs of picked-over entrees coagulate until a waiter may decide to give an apathetic stir, before walking past emptied and dirtied plates several times without retrieving them. I think Bombay knows it is one of only two or three Indian restaurants in the region, and thus rests too comfortably knowing its clientele have few options. Well, I shall wait patiently for my golden-naan paradise to reincarnate, while this establishment bearing the personality of a morgue feeds off of its dwindling customer base.

An excellent restaurant with a dark interior and authentic and decorative wall hangings, that help to separate the the restaurant from the humble strip mall in which it is located. Staffed by kind people who seems to genuinely appreciate the fact that you came to their restaurant. The menu offers vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes alike. On the appetizer menu, the samosas are delicious, as is the pakora. I myself am addicted to the paneer mahkni, to the point that every time I go there, someone at the table has to order it. Sodas come in cans, so for maximum value go with a chai tea. Or, if you are interested, the restaurant is B.Y.O.B.

i love this restaurant for last 12 years. always get excellent service! my favorite is chilli chicken and palak paneer. i dont agree with the review of sara as they says cream cream and cream. i thinks its a judgment of what you order ;). at this time i can see 0 people from 6 agree with that review!! all i can say Bombay is the best authentic Indian restaurant in the area !!!!! and i dont know why someone write a review " never eaten there but so dirty"....weird and funny and i dont know why somebody write a review that" never been there but dirty..".weird and funny..

We were regular customers when we lived in NJ. We returned to NJ to visit and went to the Bombay and wondered if it was still as wonderful as we remembered. The service is courteous and unobtrusive. The decor is relaxing and has nice music conducive to a pleasant meal. The food was as delicious as we remembered. The breads with dipping sauces were tasty. We had the chicken parantha and a savory lamb dish with naan and rice sides. Exquisite. The heat of any dish can be adjusted to your taste. Enjoy! We did.

Well.. I wonder how this place was hidden from me for so long, great food. Had biryani, kebabs & rolls. All to die for. Kebabs were as kebabs should be & not like how some places abuse them (unfortunately).Nothing great about the ambience but hey you go here to get authentic & real indian food. Special thumbs up to seekh kebab I had , can say for sure one of the best Ive ever had. Thanks a lot team Bombay Indian Restaurant , will visit you again for sure when I am back in Atlantic city at New Jersey..

Dont know why this place has so many stars. The food was disgusting. We basically bought leftovers. Everything was watered down and microwaved. No spices and awful. Rice was hard and tasteless. Even the bread was bad. It was cold and rubbery. Overall the place is overpriced and theyre scamming customers by selling old leftovers that will leave you feeling sick. If you want good local Indian food, go to Nizams down the street. The food there is 100x better hands down.

Worst experience ever. First the woman who took our order messed it up by adding additional food ( ofcourse we had to pay extra) which we didnt order then she didnt give us our desserts which were part of our food. We had to fill our own glasses with water.Rice and Lamb were half cooked. Samosas didnt have salt. Dal had extra salt. We were party of Six left the place very unhappy with upset stomach and mind. Will never get to this place again.

The worst service ever. The food was okay but the waiters were cleaning the whole restaurant right when we were eating and serving us with the same hands!!! We even told them to stop cleaning but they dint listen. A lady was sweeping the floor, cleaning tables and rearranging the place! If they had to do all this they could have closed the restaurant until they were ready for dinner. Horrible! I will never go back!

Have been going there since they opened. Food is great and cream is only in foods that have cream. Plenty of vegetarian options that you do not have to quiz the staff about to see if they are really veggie. The lunch buffet is varied daily and is one of the best values around. They now have fountain beverages and are still BYOB. The staff is very courteous and freindly and we have never had a bad experience there.

I often come here with my friends to catch up with them or introduce them to this hidden little gem. Ive never tasted such delicious food in my entire life. The lunch buffet is the best - $10 for all you can eat and it is worth every dollar. The staff is friendly and helpful so if youre new to Indian food, they will help you without hesitation. I love this place to bits and will definitely keep coming back here.

Went here a bunch of times in the early 2000s and really liked it but recently it has gone down the tubes. Lamb is so overcooked you cant chew it. I asked the waiter to take it off the bill and he didnt. I asked the manager and they finally did after way too much discussion. I gave it another try after my first bad experience and the second was worse. What a shame - we really liked this place.

Food is tasty. They have a lunch buffet until 3. This should be emphasized with times and pictures. There are words spelled incorrectly on the website and it is slightly difficult to use. I tried to send comments and was unable. Restaurant is worth visiting. Can get lunch buffet to go also. Of course, you can enjoy the food there as well.

Food and atmosphere are perfect, but there is one thing about this restaurant that makes it stand out and shine above all others. There is a mighty, beautiful, and humble waiter by the name of Shimun Shams. Her glory radiates through her aura. Delicious food, delicious waiter. Highly recommend coming. Not worth it if Shimun isnt there though.
