2017: Updated review from 1 Star to 3 Stars. Improvement in food and service. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2016: We have visited this place twice, In our first visit, we had really good customer service and food. We had Seekh kabob and Chicken Behari. It was delicious, and presented well. I would have given them five stars, of my first visit experience. But, in our second visit, we took friends, and their families (with kids) for a late night dinner. First, they do not have kids Menu. We were fine with it. Second, we ordered Chicken, Goat Bryani and Chicken Karahi. When they served Biryani and Karahi, my eye ball came out, I felt embraced that I brought friends and family to this junk place. Biryani was all squeezed up, rice were sticking around chicken or goat. Yak!!.. and Karahi, no way it was not the dish which I have been eating for last 30 years. I have more stories to tell about that night. But I dont want to be that GUY. My recommendation to restaurant owner: Work on your food presentation, specifically Biryani. Increase the serving size, otherwise your prices are way too high!! Please tell your server not to pour biryani from hands. Thank You

Amazing food. Meats are so tender and well cooked, just like how we prepare at home. And good quality too. Try the lamb chops, they make it tender and juicy, and yet with right amount of spices. Chicken kadai, hmm tender meat, perfectly cooked, the meat comes right off the bones. Chicken achari was also awesome. Goat biriyani, again, perfectly spiced with meat well cooked. We were there on a late Saturday night. Only two guys serving. Service was affected a bit, we were not too inconvenienced. Oh weve been to worse places, but both the guys apologized profusely for the below par service. Something that you do not expect from a desi place. Falooda topped off dinner perfectly well. And jelabi was perfectly crisp and sweet. If I have to nit pick, a multi-colored milk sweet that we picked was doughy for my taste, but other than that, this place was the crown jewel of our recent NJ visit.

authentic pakistani food, homemade taste/feel to the food very friendly owner/manager dont serve beef at all, in consideration of some of their hindu clients prices at par with most restaurants in the area, not too expensive decent portions nice ras malai (only dessert we tried) AMAZING garlic naaan, if not the best garlic naan ive had in nj...again, authentic pakistani food if u like extra spicy desi food, just request them, they will adjust it to ur preference we personally loved the saji, chicken biryani, goat karai, chicken chili..chicken corn soup was good too...pretty much everything we tried, we liked...only thing wrong in the food was that the egg fried rice was too fried...didnt have to be that brown will definitely be coming back again & highly recommed it to pakistani people to try it..MUCH better than shalimar/shahnawaz/shezen

One of the best places for some good Pakistani Kebabs and curries. Their Lamb chops are the best I ever had. Their Goat Kadhai and other gravies are good as well. The sauce quantity can probably be a little less when compared to other restaurants, but there is no complaining the taste and quality. I have also tried a few of their deserts like Ras malai and Falooda. Pretty much an all round place that I would go again and again and again! Note - on one rare occasion (the only in probably 4 or 5 take outs), their Lamb chops were a bit over cooked and chewy. I am positive it was one of the rare instances and I will still recommend them despite that!

As I walked in the aroma from the kitchen was enticing and made my stomach ache with hunger! The staff are nice and friendly and the restaurant is clean and bright. I was there for lunch when they get serve buffet style. There were many choices of vegetarian and meat dishes. There can never be enough meat dishes for me though haha! I had some biryani, goat, tandoori chicken and pakora and everything was delicious. It was just like my mum used to cook! I will have to go there many more times and take many more friends with me. Plus at lunchtime it was all for $10.00!!!! All the way home my friend and I talked about how delicious the food was.

Excellent quality food. I did the afternoon buffet there with family which was reasonably priced. $8.99 for all you can eat. They had fresh food and we were served hot naans consistently. They had a variety of over 8 dishes and they were all delicious. I recommend trying the Chili Chicken. Irrespective, the owner really cares about the quality of the food. The food is much better than every other desi restaurant on oak tree. Lastly, if you read a negative review, understand that it is a common practice by other restaurant owners to write bad reviews about competitors. Give this place a try at least. You wont be disappointed.

Tabaq is one awesome place for food lovers with a variety of succulent kebabs , finger licking good lamb chops and many more such dishes. We also had their chicken cheese kebabs and bihari kebabs which were amazing. Their Indo - chinese dishes like chilli chicken and chicken lollipops which we tried on their recommendation were both very yummy ! We were a family of six and we had a great dining experience at Tabaq last night. It being a Wed , the place was not so crowded and the service was good.We were so full towards the end of the meal that unfortunately there was no room for deserts for any of us.

Being a foodie, I have been to quite a few desi restaurants around town but this place stands out for me. Its a relatively new place so I thought its worth a try. Apparently I walked in at a busy time on a Friday and the place was well-managed. Food tasted great and above all it was fresh. They possibly have the best Bihari Kabab around and another Chinese entree that I had (unfortunately I cant remember the name right now) was delectable. May not be the fanciest place around but its got what every food lover needs, exceptional flavor and decent environment. Highly recommended!!!

I came here with my family and had a terrible experience. Only two waiters were serving about 10 tables. We had to wait forever just to get our appetizers. The floors and tables were dirty and there was hardly an attempt to clean up. We ordered the butter chicken and the chicken was raw. We came here on recommendations from a friend. We regret that decisions. We also had asked for salad which never arrived. After placing our order for ice cream, the waiter arrives informs us 30 minutes after that they have no ice cream. At the end we had pack our own leftovers.

The food tasted ok, as in ok enough to eat but was nowhere near mouthwateringly delicious as some of these reviews suggest. The staff looked completely overworked and agitated. They were being plainly rude to their customers to the point where I was shocked. The place looked dirty as if it hadnt been cleaned up in a long time and the ambience was terrible. If you are used to fine dining then I suggest that you look somewhere else because you will not find it here. This is the last place I would go to even if I was absolutely starving.

Beautiful place and amazing food, especially the naan! Honestly, Id come back here only for the naan. My only issue with the restaurant was the condiments. In a place that includes Chinese food in its menu, I expected there to be the general condiments that every Chinese restaurant has (soy sauce, chili vinegar, and chili paste). Also, we ordered chicken nuggets and fries for my sister, which came with packets of ketchup which werent enough. It wouldve been more efficient to simply place a bottle of ketchup on our table.
