Pathetic food. Just dont go there. If you want to know the whole story... We are new to Edison and three of us went there and ordered Goat Biryani: At least couple of days old and full of bones! Does not taste good. Chicken Curry: This is what I ordered! Tasted awful! Not fresh at all. I can see some kind of gum coming out of chicken! I am feeling like throwing up right now! Ginger Chicken: They poured all the red color into and is scary. They should simply name it RED chicken! Tastes below average. Egg Biryani: Vegetable biryani with a boiled egg on the top of it. Tastes average. Now at the end I get the hand written bill and somehow I felt that the total is wrong! I dont know when is the last time I did it but this time I added it up and yes they overcharged me by $3! The amount is small but the sense of getting cheated.. I hate it. All in all this restaurant sucks! Dont even think about it!

I ordered the thali and my husband the goat biryani. The biryani had more bone pieces than actual meat and the rice was thoroughly under seasoned. My thali contained a roti that had to be broken down into pieces by 2 hands and was way too thick. The tendli subzi looked like it was warmed in microwave because it was dry and tendli pieces were kinda tough to chew. The cabbage subzi was salty. The papadam was not crispy. The quantity of plain rice way too much but the amount of rasam and dal provided was enough to eat just 5 spoons of rice. The only savior in the thali was a warm gulab jamun. Overall the ambience is not great, the food really average and service o.k. Its probably a good place to eat for all the bachelors and forced bachelors who dont want to step in kitchen on weekends.

Worst customer service in the recent time I have experienced. We were a party of 8 with 4 kids, entered the restaurant around 9:30 pm on a saturday. the food available was very limited, we ordered and about half way through it was around 10:05 the owner shook his head in dissent and said usually we close the restaurant at 10:00 pm and asked us to make it fast...yes...he had the courage to look at the customers and say guys eat fast and leave. I am amazed how these guys are able to run a restaurant in US with this attitude. Will not step into this place again.

The food used to be great 1-2 years ago. But in recent years the place went downhill. I recently ordered a Hyderabadi Biryan and it had no taste, lots of oil, etc. Its not a specialty dish, its Biryani (a everyday dish) and I dont understand how come you mess a Biryani dish. If you check 5 star reviews they are all from 1-2 years ago, I also would have give 5 starts 1-2 years ago but not its not even worth 2 stars. Unless the owner invest on a good cook/chef this place will be close soon. Very disappointing as I used to love their biryani.

OK i moved from SC to NJ. The food is OK but one thing i found is the chicken in the special chicken biriyani is a mix of various stuff. Looks like they took chicken from all over and put this in the biriyani. I also ordered butter chicken ( i know i should not order from a south indian restuarant ) the chicken is not good looks like they just took it from from freezer and put it in the curry. I would recommend spending money in a decent restuarant like Hoysala or corriander. If you still wanna go there, be my guest

this restaurant used to serve better taste food earlier...but they lack the quality and taste now.....whatever you order Biryanis a complete no, dosa, uthapam all name sake but no authentic taste.....better to avoid this restaurant......I wonder if they are charging good amount for each dish why they forget the quality and taste of food totally.....they should better eat first before they serve the food so that they will know what actually they are serving.....

Not a bad idly and masala dosa. Chutney and sambar could have had a bit more flavor and kick. But dosa was good and generous in size. UPDATE: about 7 hours after dining here, a brutal case of "dysentery" set in and lasted for 48 hours. I had not eaten for about 7 hours BEFORE and I ate nothing AFTER dining here, so I am left strongly suspecting but unable to prove that Dakshin gave me food poisoning. Caveat cenator.

We have a lot of friends for whose parties, we attend. Because of that reason we happen to taste different foods catered by different caterers. We personally feel that the food brought from Dakshin restaurant is the best in quality and quantity. You can ask them if you like your food to be little mild or spicy. We think they can prepare the food according to your preference and give you quality food.

Dakshin is known for quantity with average taste. I was five times at dakshin. I tried Hyderabadi chicken and special chicken biryani. Both were Yummy. Quantity which they give is good enough for two. They started compromising in quality these days.I would suggest them, If they maintain same quality as earlier, this is a good place to have food especially biryani. Cheaper to paradise located beside.

Worst service ever. Im sitting in this restaurant writing this review. I am travelling from Arkansas for a vacation and happened to visit this place because a friend recommended. They didnt get the order for 30 minutes and didnt serve water even after we got our food. Totally understaffed with no respect for customers. Will never recommend this place to my friends or family.

I am giving it 1 star because there is no zero. Ordered 3 items; 1 plate of idly; one veg biryani one curd rice. How can there be an Indian restaurant with out GHEE for idly. The raitha for biryani is bitter. Finally the curd rice... even the curd with rice werent even mixed properly. Curd rice is supposed to be very smooth and soft in texture this was nowhere near that.

These people need to change their mentality. We reach there at 9.40 PM on a Sunday. They told nothing is there as we speak in hindi. We just come out and we found there are 5-6 customers entered the hotel in next 2 minute and they speak in south indian language and they were served the food. Not sure why they do like that.

Loved the hydrabadi biryani and rawa dosa. Never had anything like that before. Chicken 65 was horribly made with dried chicken. looked old too. Service and ambiance were not that appealing. Waiters looked sad and unhappy and totally unapproachable. But would continue to go for the biryani experience.

The food is awesome , the special biryani is just perfect and better than most of the restaurants on the oak-tree road .the gravy which they give along with the biryani makes me go again and again. coming to the dosa here, it gets the taste of home . try this place and feel like home.
