We intended to go to the highly touted buffet, but didnt realize it was only for dinner. Regardless, with a menu as vast as Karaikudis, we had no problem finding some things to try. My wife and I love Indian food, the spicier the better and had tried Chettinad before and really liked it. We ordered what I think were two of the hottest items on the menu, the chicken chettinad, and the Mutton Sukka Varuval. We also got the paneer 65 to start and a side of rice and naan. The paneer was very interesting, it was deep fried and then marinated in masala. It was a huge portion, plenty for two to share and the paneer itself was very well made. Our main dishes were also delicious. The chicken, though on the bone which I typically dont like as it is too much work, was tender and extremely flavorful. This was spicy, but not runny nose spicy. The mutton was incredible, succulent cubes of boneless meat smothered in a delicious, burning hot sauce. I may have looked like I was tear gassed while protesting something by the end, but it was totally worth it for the food. The huge portion of rice (a single order between two people was plenty) and the delicious naan helped soak up the extra sauce and cool down a bit. The naan was one of the best Ive ever had, we ordered the special one which was covered in onions and masala. The portions were also standout as we normally run out of sauce way before rice at other Indian restaurants and here we had plenty left. Service was a bit spotty as we had our places set, unset, then set again as well as waiting about 15 minutes to have our places cleared after finishing. They still werent completely cleared even after we payed and left. Our waiter though was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very authentic with Indian tv playing and music in the background. It is obviously a favorite with locals as well as it totally filled up by the time we left.

Do not go until they change the managing staff. I was almost inclined to give good review but experienced worst customer service. The food was good, but the staff was very bad. At first they behaved. We went for the buffet and we had to wait for our friends for few minutes. Apparently, that was the main argument from them. Here is the complete story. We went their, we said we are 4 of us. We had to wait for a while (not more then 7 minutes) for other two friends which they did not like even though the tables were all empty when we entered. We enjoyed our lunch. As I said the food was good. I know there is always long lines during the lunch buffet, that was the reason we arrived early and secured the table. I even expedite the billing process by paying them early (with 10 percent tip). However, the moment they got the card payment, manager comes and says we have to empty our table for next customers. Three of us were done, but one of us was still eating. How can be someone this rude and selfish. He crossed the limit when he argued against our complain saying that you come early and did not started for few minutes and waited for your friends and we did not say anything to you. Apparently you can not secure the table and wait for your friends. Do not go until they change the managing staff.

Went there on 9/6/2015 with family and it was totally a bad experience. We have reached there around 1:20 PM and got a table around 2:15 and I would say that the 1 hour waiting was not at all worth while considering the service and food we have received on that day. Only one guys was there to manage the entire tables and the customers queue. Many people reached after me got table before me and I dont know what is the selection criteria. No plates were there on the buffet table for waited for 10 minutes to get a plate. Many food items were finished and no one was filling it on time. some of the items were half cooked including Vada & Dosa. No one was there to remove the used plates from the table and it was kept it as it until we finish the lunch. The Chutney & Salads was kept near to the Deserts and nobody could find it until they finish their food and went for Deserts. I am not sure whether it is due to overcrowded or it is a normal weekend situation. Anyway, this is my first and last visit. The amount for lunch buffet for 2 persons and a small kid was around 40$ and My rating is 1/5.

This was terrible! I would give it a zero if I could, we ordered a sukha mutton Masala and chicken chittnad. We gave special instructions that mutton be well Cooked and it took over forty minutes for the food to arrive, we had high hopes but they were totally crushed as soon as we ate the first bite. First, the sukha mutton was with gravy?thats stupid. Then, after we tried the mutton, we couldnt even manage to break a piece off. Gravy was just a lot of Masala and extremely un-mixed. We had it sent back and said it was uncooked, not a word out of them. Not even a sorry. We then moved on to the chicken, exact same. Uncooked chicken, unbreakable, gravy even worse than mutton. We just left everything and they still made us pay for it, absolute crap. We then said that we had the worst experience here, again, not a peep out of them, not a sorry. Refrain from ever going here. Mood is also terrible, left 10 minutes after food came, we left. Presentation was terrible...place was terrible...location was terrible Never go there!!!

Five stars to this restaurant. I went to this restaurant for dinner on my birthday! I have tried all other restaurants and wanted to try a different one. I didnt expect much about this restaurant, after trying the big name restaurants and disappointed with their food quality. Very reserved welcome, nothing fancy in decor, but the food was authentic South Indian level. I ordered fish and chicken curries just for change. Appetizers were great! Kids loved the tender crisps. The fish dishes reminded me my mom. I was memorizing the same taste my mom made and telling the kids about it. Ceylon rumaali roti was a nice combination for the chettinad chicken curry. Dont forget to instruct less butter on them. Large TVs with native music and t channels give you homely feeling. Accidentally, I met my friends who came for dinner there. I felt relieved from the home sickness, and boredom. Good place to relax and enjoy the homely food.

Their food is awesome and have been here very often. But had a really bad experience with one of their server who was so arrogant and doesnt have manners to receive clients. I have been there so many time an just that day I went a little early and asked to be seated inside and have a cup of water. There was a girl who received us and when we are about to be seated an arrogant guy came as asked us to go out and wait in the sun. When I asked why and could I talk to your manager he couldnt even connect me. Just because he is in US doesnt mean he should show such an attitude. Worst of all I had to walk away without eating and have a big fight before leaving. Sorry forgot to mention I didnt even had water there at the end. Really a bad experience and hate to post a bad review on one of my favorite food place.
