This is a gorgeous ocean-side mansion that has been converted into a B&B. There are nine total rooms for couples to enjoy. This place is very pricey, but considering the luxury offered the price makes sense. The receptionists are all extremely friendly and accommodating. They leave at 10 PM, however, and lock the front door. After 10 you must use a side entrance that you are given the key for. All of the rooms have a unique feature of their own (one has a jacuzzi tub, one with a couples shower, one with a private balcony, etc.) All rooms have AC/heat that can be set to your preferences. A moderately sized flat screen TV is also available for use. My boyfriend and I brought our laptop and an HDMI cable to watch Netflix late at night before bed. A nightly turn-down service is also offered between 6PM and 8PM. Every morning you are served breakfast, which you reserve a time for at the front desk the day before. The breakfast is excellent, I recommend the pancakes. In the afternoons wine and cheese is served downstairs. Beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and bicycles are available for guests free of charge. If you go to one of the many fantastic wineries in the area, you can bring back wine and ask the receptionist to put it on ice for you. They will either serve it to you in your room, or hang on to it to be enjoyed at dinner if you choose to dine at the restaurant. I recommend making a reservation at the in-house restaurant. The food is excellent and high-end. The atmosphere of the restaurant is classy, elegant, and very relaxed. The menu is expensive, but the food is portioned generously. They also have a prix fixe menu. Its a three course meal for each person that includes one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. You can choose from any of the menu options, and there is only an upcharge for the filet mignon. I recommend the garlic soup and any of their fish entrees. The restaurant specializes in seafood. My only "complaint" was a cute little pigeon decided he wanted to nest right outside of our window. So around 5 AM, my boyfriend and I were woken up to a strange "cooing" and "prurroooring" sound. This was my first stay at a B&B, and I think my boyfriend went all out and spoiled any other B&B for me. Staying here made me feel like a princess. It was such a great experience, and so different from the feel of staying at a hotel.

We just dined at Peter Shields this evening—our second time this year. We have been coming here for years...but wont be driving back again. I was torn between ordering their signature dish (the lobster) and the evening fish special (the soft shell crabs). When a table next to us got their order (which included both of the above), and seeing the portion size, I decided that I would go with the soft shells. However, when I received my entree there was only one soft shell crab and not the two that I had seen on the plate next to me! And because of timing, that couple had finished their meal and were leaving the restaurant. When I finally got the waitresses attention, I questioned her about "one crab vs. the two" that I had seen on my neighbors plate, which ultimately lead me to my order. When questioned, her response was, "Oh, did I say crabs, I must have meant to say, crab...it must have been my accent." Really? Ive never EVER heard a place offer their special as "Soft shell crab" (singular). I thought that maybe I had been seeing things, until I asked my wife, who did indeed see a much different meal—including two two soft shells—on the plate of the couple dining next to us! I HATE being taken advantage of. What nerve. I find this nothing short of an outrage, that a well known restaurant with great reviews and reputation, would try to pull the wool over my eyes and not own up to the fact that, they were clearly one crab short at a last seating of the evening. And when we were so put off by this, deciding to not order coffee and desert, we had to wait 20 minutes for our check to arrive, while we watched our waitress ask her other tables if they cared for more coffee! If youre like me, youll dine at an establishment where you get what youre entitled to; a complete meal!!

Having our wedding at this Romantic Bed and Breakfast. My boyfriend and I stayed at PSI for the weekend to celebrate our four year anniversary, he proposed on the beach this past Saturday!! We had such a wonderful time. We had a great connection with the staff. Thank you Meg, Bridgette, Marie, and JoAnn. You all made us feel not only welcome during our stay, but also very special!! Everyone was so friendly and the service was truly outstanding. The ambiance and atmosphere was superb throughout the whole Inn. We loved our room, we loved the cheese and wine hour, and we highly recommend Peter Shields Inn to anyone visiting Cape May. We live in center city Philadelphia and dine at some of the best places the city has to offer. We dined at PSI on both Friday and Saturday evening for dinner. We found that the presentation, service, and quality of the food certainly ranks as high as the best restaurants of Philadelphia without spending $$$$. We had such fun with our waiter Chris on Friday, he was warm, genuine, and very professional. He toasted us on Saturday night after finding out about the engagement!! Such memorable staff and a pleasurable experience.

The Peter Shields Inn is perfect for a romantic dinner. I took my girlfriend there for Valentines Dinner and we were impressed from the minute we arrived. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They had rose petals all along the window sills with roses on the table and they had a piano player playing their grand piano in the main lobby. We started off with ordering the Butternut Squash with Smoked Trout and it was unbelievable. For our main course we had their Tenderloin and Scallops and both were out of this world. Their desserts were a nice ending to our meal. The sorbet is house made and delicious and their creme brule was just as good. The whole time it felt like we had four waiters as we never had to ask for fill ups on our water or wine. From start to finish this is one of the best restaurants to go to in Cape May. We will be going here again the next time we are Cape May!

I could seriously write a novel on our experience with Peter Shields Inn, Amy and the entire staff at PSI are absolutely amazing!! They went above and beyond in every single way to make our stay, our wedding, our reception and our entire trip absolutely spectacular for us! From being such a gracious host to our vendors, the private lounge space in the basement, waiting on us hand and foot, to tying up every loose end for us, keeping the venue very private – the staff even kept pedestrians on the street from stepping into the ceremony, managing musical cues, catering to our food allergies, and so much more!! Amy did a really good job at managing everything minute by minute in the background, making everything run smooth for exactly what *we* wanted, without ever getting in the way.
