From the moment we walked in the Pier house I felt as though we were being treated differently than the other customers. I believe this is due to the fact that we didnt exactly have a reservation and were dressed casually. I called en route and the hostess told me there was a table available in the bar section. This was understandable because it was last minute during a summer holiday weekend. When we arrived the hostess seated us in the far corner away from everyone. I didnt take this to mean anything at first but as the meal progressed I couldnt help but see it as a part of a pattern. We examined the menu briefly before our waiter arrived, unsure about what to order. The waiter came over to the table and asked us what we would like, we looked at each other, still unsure, but he did not offer any suggestions and just stood there silently until we finally told him to give us a few minutes. We didnt see him again for another ten minutes at which point he gave some insincere excuse. I ordered the swordfish and my partner had the crab cakes. The food came out unusually fast however my entire meal, the swordfish, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and sauce, were at room temperature. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and somehow imagine that it may have cooled quickly. When I told the waiter he apologized and returned the food to the kitchen. He returned with the dish once again and I noticed it was steaming hot, in exactly the same condition I had left it, and the capers had shriveled up into little raisins. To me this added up to microwaved and at that point I had had it. The meal from the start was not made fresh. He initially served me a pre-made or left over entree that was not even fully reheated. And to correct this when I returned it they nuked it in the microwave. I pointed this out to the waiter and all he could give me were snide rebuttals about how the chef would never do such a thing. From the looks of the other reviews it sounds like my experience was somewhat unique which again leads me to believe that we had not been treated respectfully for whatever pretentious reasons they may have had. The prices were not outrageously expensive but high enough that it further fueled my anger. No one should be treated that way. No exceptions.

The food, I would call eclectic with a contemporary mediterranean spin, is splendid, and worth every penny. The difference between the Pier House and other so called "Mediterranean" restaurants is quite notable. There are appetizers galore, I highly recommend the Chef, Argie Mallous specialty the Macho Tuna (asian flair)...spicy seared rare ahi, wonton crisp, wasabi crema, sesame vinaigrette, micro greens, tomato salad. EXCELLENT! If you want to give the Chef a real surprise ask for the Manos Salad - which is not on the menu but will be lovingly made especially for you! The fresh seafood dishes are especially exceptional, with particular appeal being the "pH Balance" - the Pier Houses signature version surf & turf. 6 oz. tail, 6 oz. filet, its another of my favorites. The portions are generous, the services is friendly and accomidating, and the atmosphere is definately one Cape Mays finest. Not to mention the wine list which is extensive and offers some interesting wines that are rare in this country, all selected by the Chef himself. The net of all this is that the Pier House is a restaurant for that special occasion or to have an evening with that extraspecial someone. Equally as impressive is the managing partner, George Mallous who makes each trip feel like home. Always a memorable Cape May experience....

Very very good quality food. Our server was a little new, probably being broken in before the start of the tourist season, we couldnt understand his mumbly accent. But there was an additional server nearby if he needed help. Whyd I notice this? Im a server too! And he did an amazing job! Took very good care of us. Fine dining done right! The food is Greek, and better than Ive ever had before. We visited a similar restaurant, Kanella, in center city Philadelphia and this didnt compare. Pier House was better spiced, better presented, and took better care of us. It is a little pricey, but its well worth it. Small note: we nabbed a seat by the windows and were taken aback by large flies who were stuck in the restaurant, I know its hard to keep them out but eww!

We had looked at reviews for The Pier House and decided it looked like a nicer option than most at the shore. We went for dinner on a Saturday night. We were really happy with everything. The ambiance of the restaurant, the garden seating (we did eat outside) and our server (Helen) were all great! The food was even better than expected with very nice presentation. The Kalamari appetizer, my favorite, was huge, enough for three people and the dipping sauces were delicious. The lollipop lamb chops and grilled octopus were outstanding too. We loved it all and the portions were very generous too! I have recommended The Pier House to friends and look forward to returning and trying their breakfast menu. 5*****+ to The Pier House and staff!

The best restaurant I have had in a long time!!! I used to serve as a fine dining specialist and this place is amazing! We are here the first night on vacation, and the second night we went to PSI. We chose PSI bc we had an amazing bottle of wine from a private collection and wanted a nice BYOB restaurant... But we were so impressed with this place and the experience we had the night before that we had appetizers at PSI and then corked our wine and came back for a second time!! The bar staff was awesome, jason and maria! As well as our servers each night Helen and sarisa (apologies if it is misspelled). I plan on making this spot a must each year I visit!!!! The food is literally amazing!!!

The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is very nice. The problem is that when my family and I arrived fro dinner the hostess made a comment to one of her servers that the chef was in a bad mood and just deal with it. So what am I to think? Lets call the chef, chef Joe hypothetically and lets say that chef Joe really is in a bad mood when I arrive. In my mind Im thinking that he is in no mood to cook his best meals and therefore that means my family and I are going to get inferior meals. This left a very bad impression on me and my family. To their credit in the end the food was good not great and it was overpriced. Therefore you get 3 stars. Definite room for improvement.

Went with a group of 12. We were early..they were ready, opened up and sat us early. Since there were 12 of us, we were lucky to eat family style and try just about everything on the menu. I can only say EXCELLENT ....SUPERB service fast and attentive ! Cudos to Beverly! But wait theres more...so I get home and realize my necklace was missing and it wasnt on my neck. On my necklace was my wedding band and my cross charm. I was about to have a panic attack and I call and speak to Beverly. One of the other employees, George, had found my wedding band and charm!! I later found the necklace... wow what an adventure!! Thanks again for everything, words cannot express my feelings.
