Orange, Cheesy Hollandaise Sauce - NEVER RETURNING! This place was always my go-to for good food that was prepared quickly. Not anymore. The last two times Ive visited, the food or the experience wasnt what it used to be. This was my last time there. I ordered an Eggs Benedict and the Hollandaise sauce consistency and color was not correct. I asked to speak to a manager. I watched the manager, Carlos, deal with four other disgruntled customers before I got up and took my food to him. He then "explained" to me that Hollandaise sauce color changes (this is not true when its made correctly). I told him it tastes like cheese, he said "the flavor changes sometimes, but the same chef has always worked here." When I asked him to taste the sauce, his face even turned up at the flavor. And instead of him apologizing, he wanted to explain to me that I just dont understand how Hollandaise sauce is. Oh, I guess its my fault that I ordered hollandaise sauce and actually wanted hollandaise instead of your mouth and bulls**t explanation. Carlos, youre an ineffective manager to blame me, the customer, for wanting my order to reflect what the STANDARD consistency and color should be for a food product. NEVER GOING TO RETURN and Ill be sure to tell anyone that will listen about this infamous ORANGE, CHEESY HOLLANDAISE sauce. (Just go to Nevada down the street - Ive never been let down by the customer service! Its less than a mile away on Broad Street.

I wouldnt even give them ONE star! My family and I have been regular customers for several years and would eat here atleast twice a week. But ever since they got new owners this place has went incredibly downhill! The waitresses are not attentive, let alone the manager himself is a horrible businessman! During one of my visits I ordered the steak and eggs for breakfast I asked that the egg and cheese be put on the side. My food comes out and the eggs with cheese in them are on top of my steak. I bring it to the managers attention and he said he would have the cook staff remake my meal. He brings my meal back and to my surprise I lift up my steak and theres cheese on my meat!! nevertheless all they did was remove the eggs from my steak. At that point I didnt even want to eat anymore, I was so Furious! what horrible service!!! Another time I ordered the taco salad and I had cucumbers in it. what kind of taco has cucumbers?!?! And just yesterday I ordered ice cream to go I get home and I have onions in my ice cream! I will never return again!!! I do not recommend this place to anyone unless u love horrible service with your horrible food!!! bring back the old management!!!

Valentines Day 2016: The day I almost lost my beloved...behind this place! Its 9 degrees outside with a wind chill making it more like 3 degrees; and they seat us next to a window...the glass is cold making the area cold. When we asked for a different seat, the manager complies and seats us next to...another window! When we express discontent with that, they seat us at a table near a large rear opening that you can feel the cold air billowing in. At this point we are utterly disgusted...as we wait for our food I become more and more aggravated. Finally, when it comes the "Grilled Chicken Quesidilla" my beloved ordered looked like someone took tortilla chips and a can of potted meat and threw it on a plate. Really? This is NOT fine dining at all. At least the server (Leighton ) was nice, but the manager needs to try unemployment or another line of work. I will NOT return there, Ill be telling 30 of my friends to avoid this place like a tax increase, and they in turn will tell 30 of their friends, and so on. Im pasting this on Facebook as well, and maybe after the bad press theyll either get it together or go out of business...which the latter I have no problem with!

This is the spot for my annual birthday dinner - the prime rib or Chicken a la Oscar are my favourites! The menu is ample, and I particularly like the variety in the packages, which are reasonably priced. For example, diners have a choice of various vegetables (a plus for one such as myself, who cannot eat starch or sugar), and the full dinner includes any dessert on the menu (not just gelatin or ice cream, as in many places.) There is a great selection of sauté specialities, meats, salads and the like, beyond the usual diner fare - though the dinner prices are the most reasonable (where salads and hamburgers are pricey for a lower class NJ neighbourhood.) There are several sugar-free desserts which should appeal to diabetics, and those following low carb diets, as I do, can indulge in the sugar-free, cheesecake (no crust.) Staff are quite attentive.

service has gone down ...i keep thinking that because its right where Willies was im going to get the same service...Not !!! got seated 1 table away from the waiters break table ... not cool ..nice view of the kitchen not cool ...waiters all hanging out ..loud and personal...asked for extra ice still only got a few cubes ...had to eventually just ask for one of the sodas out of the case with a glass of ice ... turkey burger didnt have one drop of seasoning ...tables and floor were not up to par ...waitress was very nice ...there is a houseman there he has worked there for years ...he was feverishly cleaning while everyone else had a lackadaisical attitude ...it was quite empty for a Thursday afternoon....dont take your customers for granted.

I recently went here for breakfast. The decor is welcoming and clean. However, it was a ghost town; there were maybe 10 customers inside. The waitress was not friendly, gave me the wrong muffin, one cup of coffee to start the meal, and one cup of coffee to finish the meal. Other than that she was never around. Breakfast was good, greasy, but good like it should. The plates although colorful, were greasy - greasy like they have not been cleaned properly. Seriously, it was gross. The food is a good value. If they just had friendlier service, with more frequent coffee refills, and clean plates State Street Grill could be a nice place to get breakfast. I will not be rushing back for more. It seems like nobody is.

The food is awful! Im not sure if they have new cooks, but the quality of the food has gone down. I order a soup and salad combo. The tomatoes were hard on the outside and when I bit into it was soft and rotten. The waiter left the combo on the menu. I went to the manager to have him adjust the bill and before he adjusted the bill he asked when did I realized that the tomatoes were rotten. I just looked at him and said when I bit into it. What difference does it make? Just take it off. I did pay for the soup. Ive been going to State Street Grill for over 15 years and within a month I have eaten here three times at night and the food was awful. I will never eat from this establishment again. The manager sucks!
