As a former resident of Manhattan and Los Angeles, I am accustomed to eating some of the best Chinese food on the planet. And I realize that no restaurant in the Upper Valley is going to come close to those high standards. So I have had to lower my expectations. In search of the best Chinese cuisine in the area, I have tried virtually every option, which is why I was willing to take a shot at getting my dinner from a hole in the wall place in the corner of a convenience store. Perhaps, I thought, Oriental Wok Express might be that elusive hidden gem that could at last meet my greatly reduced hopes. Alas, it was not to be. I had read previously that one should avoid the steam table food for sale there, instead ordering off the menu, which I did. I selected two of my favorite dishes, fried dumplings and pork Lo Mein. Service was quick, if indifferent, and I took my order to go, since the ambience left something to be desired. I began to suspect that I was in for a disappointment when the smell emanating from my bagged food in the car was of burned grease, never a good omen. When I finally got home, I found that the dumplings and the noodles tasted largely the same, despite the major differences in the proper manner of their preparation. Both the appetizer and the entrée were steeped in pools of hot oil and were limp, soggy and stale. I managed to eat two or three of the dumplings before giving up in disgust, fearing that I might make myself sick. I then turned to the noodles, painfully picking out the large chunks of badly overcooked charred pork (or whatever it was) and zeroing in on the flaccid dark brown pasta and the slick, thickly sliced onions. Despite my hunger, I could not manage to eat more than a few mouthfuls before throwing the whole mess into the trash. I can now cross off Oriental Wok Express forever as a possible answer to my still unsatisfied quest for a decent, even passable, Chinese meal in the Upper Valley. You have been warned!

Our family went summer vacation and stopped at Lebanon, NH on June 26 2013 and decided to have some Chinese foods. Fortunately, we found one (oriental wok express: 97 N. Main St. W. Lebanon, NH 03784) which wasn’t too far from our hotel. We got there around 9:00 pm and a girl with a round face welcomed us. I read the menu and decided to order 4 dishes (sesame chicken, shredded pork with garlic sauce, spicy chicken and water spinach (空心菜 in Chinese) and a big bowl of soup and also told her that I would order more if I needed more later. In about 20 minutes, the girl started to bring my first few orders, she then brought me other two dishes that I didn’t order and forced me to pay for the dished that I didn’t even order!!!!! Plus the foods were poorly prepared and tasted so bad!!! I asked her why she cooked the food that I didn’t order and she couldn’t tell the reason but kept saying that she saw us hungry. How ridiculous!! She had no right to order for us based on her own guess. I felt like we were robbed by robbers!!! I like to warn anybody if you have to go to this restaurant!!! Good business takes honest and fair not cheating and crafty! You can only rob our money once! An angry customer!!! July 21 , 2013

Definitely order from their menu. I live up the road from them and visit frequently so I understand why some people tried it once and hated it. Anything from the steam tables has likely been sitting a while unless you go around proper meal times. I will say their rice always seems to have been sitting for ages. Despite this Oriental Wok is my favorite local Asian restaurant not only because of pricing and authenticity but anything cooked fresh(aka ordered from menu and not an item in the steam table) is genuinely amazing food.

I was running late to a business meeting, so I decided to order takeout at Oriental Wok to get some fast Chinese food. Food at Oriental Wok is very cheap, but just because its cheap doesnt mean its worth your money, the quality of the food is horrifying, I ordered a simple Chicken with Broccoli I thought such a simple dish cant possibly be messed up right? Wrong, the entire dish smelled like rotten food, I couldnt possibly eat it! Ended up throwing out all of it. Never ordering from there again!

Great food. Ive ordered here probably 20 times as of writing this and Ive never had a problem. Staff can be a little too focused on what theyre doing over greeting, but no qualms here.

Always super friendly, good, and inexpensive. Their Americanized food is solid and their authentic Chinese dishes actually taste quite good, similar to homestyle meals.

Its Chinese food from a gas station to say the least but the food is surprisingly good here Id choose it over some restaurants in the area. Good food. 5stars.

The most authentic Chinese food in the Upper Valley; order from their menu instead of the hot plates, though.

Worst ever. They pretended to forget half our order after we already paid, plus no bar here. Yuck
