Our idea of a perfect restaurant is a family owned and operated place, where the owner is the cook and his spouse or other family member is the server. This is the case at Angkor Wat, where chef/owner Chy Tuckerman (pronounced "chee") is the owner/chef, and the night we were there, his mother-in-law Sue was our server. Both took the time to acquaint themselves with us and share their culinary philosophy. Chy is passionately devoted to his craft; he believes that Asian food should be made from strictly fresh ingredients and that everything should be cooked to order. Chy takes a dim view of typical American "Chinese" fare, so often deep fried and/or smothered in a sweet, sticky sauce. We were pleased with our entrees, cooked to order from fresh ingredients, with Asian flavors that were pleasing but not overpowering. The food was truly "home-style". The restaurant, including the rest rooms, were spotless, leaving the diner with the impression that he has dined in someones home, not in a restaurant. In short, Angkor Wat is the ideal restaurant, and if you are not familiar with home-style south east Asian fare, this is an excellent place to start. The Angkor Wat does not have a liquor license as of this writing, so bring your own beer or wine. There are several stores nearby. Needless to say this arrangement will make your dinner even more affordable!

I created a public profile just so I could leave feedback about this restaurant. I lived in Woodstock for a year and ate several times at Angkor Wat in addition to ordering to-go. I cant say enough about how much I and my fiance love this restaurant. I dont think a single occasion went by where we didnt witness a couple or individual patron walk back and poke their head into the little kitchen and thank the chef for their meal. The food is great. If you like heat in your food, he can add as much or as little spice as you request in any number of dishes. Furthermore, in terms of versatility, a majority of the cuisine can be prepared VEGETARIAN or VEGAN on request. BYOB is actually a really nice touch to this restaurant, as you can stop next door at the grocery and buy your own wine or beer to bring along. This is especially nice if youre bringing a group. By the by, the chef is a former longtime pastry chef who makes amazing cheesecakes for dessert. I recommend the pumpkin during the fall season. If youre passing through Woodstock, Angkor Wat is a great place to grab a unique, delicious meal. Even after moving away from Woodstock, weve returned just to dine at this establishment.

I had just moved back to the area and after driving by a few times my cousin and I wanted to check the place out. The atmosphere is alright and the people are very friendly. We ordered the coconut chicken wing and the Thai roll for appetizers along with a Thai tea. The tea was amazing, as out waitress stated, "it is as if having dessert b-4 dinner." The Thai roll was very good and the chicken wings were nice, a little heat. For dinner my cousin had a noodle bowl where as I had a stir-fry (red) Curry Chicken. The bowl was huge but it lacked a lot of flavor since the stock was without seasonings and did not taste as if it had been a true stock. The curry chicken stir-fry was very disappointing, as the chicken seemed to have been bliled and not stir fired. The chicken taste was not significant and was not hot. The dish had few vegetables and the sauce was week with curry. Maybe because we went there on Jan. 1, 2016 the food seemed to lack a lot. Although the girls were very nice, I feel they could be dressed more appropriately.

We ate for the first time last weekend at Angkor Wat based on reviews and recommendations. I had the Curry with Chicken. It was good, flavorful, with the right amount of spice. However, I felt it was just a little too “saucy”. My wife ordered a vegetable and chicken dish (not sure exactly which one). She was disappointed with it as her chicken was not sautéed in any of the ingredients (garlic, ginger, etc.), but rather had the consistency of being boiled, or cooked in broth. That may have been the way it was supposed to be, but it was not to her liking. The staff was very nice, attentive, and knowledgable. However, it was a hot/humid night, and for some reason they were not using the air conditioning. It seemed acceptable when we sat down, but it got really uncomfortable towards the end of the meal (perhaps the spices aggravated the heat!). If the A/C was not working, they should have let us know. Otherwise, do your customers a favor keep the dining room at an acceptable temperature in the future.

I am generally open minded when it comes to restaurants. Cambodian food, if it is supposed to be on a par with Thai food, should be just as good. It is really hard to screw up Pad Thai. They sent out a soupy dish with soggy noodles and little taste. The curry shrimp dish with noodles was equally disappointing. We tried the cheese cake as a last resort and found it to be a doughy mixture that neither of us could get down. Fortunately, breakfast at the B&B the next morning filled the hungry stomachs. I read the reviews on Local and decided to try Angkor Wat even though there were a few bad reviews. The bad reviews were true. Try Melaza down the street.

Red curry? Stir-fried chicken and vegetables in soy sauce. Pad thai? Stir-fried chicken and linguine in soy sauce. Spring rolls? Well, just chicken and vegetables. Everything we ordered was literally a variant on the exact same dish - stir-fried something in soy sauce. Im not expecting authentic, but I was expecting something better than what I could buy out of the freezer section of the supermarket. Theres not much by way of Asian food in the area, but even so, this was one of the bigger culinary disappointments Ive experienced. Bland, unoriginal, and just comically unlike anything I wouldve expected.

Solid three stars. Food is good, not great. Nothing we are was really "authentic," from the appetizers to the main dishes. The summer roll was missing something that I cant quite put my finger on. The crispy chicken on noodles needed more sauce on the noodles. The lemongrass stir fry was the highlight, but even that needed more lemongrass and coconut flavor - it was a bit too subtle. Also, prices are high for what you get, but thats Woodstock for you.

GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY! Upon placing our order our waitress informed us that they can do anything on the menu gluten free & have a separate fryer as well. The crab ragoons are out of this world! Healthy choices & delicious. Also, great service. Highly recommend!

Hands down, one of the best SE Asian restaurants anywhere. The curry was amazing - you could taste the spices, garlic and sort of a sweet undertone of ...? Vegetables were crisp! Beef and pork locally sourced. Super friendly staff and nice, low key vibe.

Great fresh food, simple but nice atmosphere and friendly staff! You can bring whatever you like to drink. Definitely worth checking out ...especially their summer rolls! Also the chef specializes in pastry so save room for dessert!

Healthiest food in Woodstock! We dine here frequently, arriving hungry and leaving not only full but with leftovers. Woodstock is lucky to have this little Cambodian gem.
