Tonight I met Jack, the GM at Shogun. It was by far my favorite Sunday Ive ever had. He sat down with my beautiful date and I and customized our cuisine for the night. The food was the most amazing Japanese fusion style cuisine iv ever had. Being from Southern California and being a fan of this style food, I finally found a place I am willing to drive 2 hours to get to. I would recommend it to anyone. Their sheer variety has something for everyone and of all ages. Even on a Sunday night the atmosphere was fun and lively enough to make you feel special. We had the Kobe beef. Brought out on ice with a hot stone to cook yourself. The presentation was incredible in it self and the taste was out of this world. The sushi was incredible too. Presentation and taste are second to no other restaurant iv ever eaten at in my entire life. Thank you so much Shogun. You have a customer for life and your own personal free marketer. See you there

It was beautiful inside. Service took along time but it was busy.. the cook was exceptional and awesome . His food was awesome! So well trained all of them. The con was the girls walking around with shots, made it feel like a stip club. And selfies after doin shots is what strip clubs do, not nice restaurants. there were way to many families and kids there for that and they watched as wimen pour shots in people mouths. That should be kept in the bar area. Then our party had 4 separate checks which three had big discrepancies on them which were fixed but had not been caught would have cost alot of overage. to sketchy for me now. Over all the resturant is nice it just feels like a stip club with no boobs and kids there. Would i go back 50/50. Only of someone else buys.

I have to admit I was turned off from it because it being the old asia. My husband convinced me to try it for our date night and I was glad that he did. The inside is completly renovated and clean. It was a little to dark for me, but still nice. We sat in and ordered sushi. The Crazy Angry Angel roll was great. We went there a second time last night (8/11/15) for my daughters birthday and sat in for Hibachi this time. My family had such an amazing time and the chef was fantastic. The food was great. Expensive, but you get alot and worth it. I shared a Hibachi dinner combo with my daughter and I still left with leftovers for lunch the next day. I definitely recommend trying it. I was glad that I was wrong in judging this place before I tried it.

This place is so amazing! Beautiful atmosphere, polite and efficien t wait staff, friendly owner, amazing kitchen staff! My husband and I came in for Valentines Day lunch 2017 and had a most enjoyable vist. Enjoyed listening to the music which carried over many different decades of the 20th century with some light modern. LED lights all over for decoration. Friendly happy fish in the entryway to greet us too! :) The food was excellent and presented artistically and professionally. We dont get up to the area much but this is now our top choice for food here! I hadnt been in the building since 1985 and so much has changed. Beautiful renovations created a wonderful and unique dining experience with private seating. Cant wait to visit again!!!

Dont judge this restaurant by the outside; i admittedly was reluctant to eat here but was urged by a fairly reputable pallette so i went in with an open mind. WOW! The inside of this place is beautiful! The private booth set up was also nice. I tried one of their sushi w/mangos & their spicy tina handroll (added crunchies/tempura flakes-everything was top notch-even go the extra length to make such a beautiful arrangement of food. Went w/a friend who does not eat sushi & it was the first time ive seen her complete a whole meal (one of their chicken noodle dishes). Highly recommended giving this place a try; also looks promising for business/holiday parties or gatherings with additional private rooms w/tables!

I absolutely LOVE this place. Best sushi/hibachi place in the seacoast area. The interior is beautiful, my server was very friendly and attentive, although it took a little while to get our food, there was only one chef at that time so it was understandable. The food was fantastic. I got the baked scallops and stuffed jalepenos appetizer, and they were both delicious. My friend got the salmon lover entree and I ordered the heat and hot roll, the salmon was the freshest salmon Ive ever had and it was presented in a huge bowl on ice with lights . The heat and hot roll was very good, probably a new favorite of mine. I will DEFINITELY be going back to this place. I cant wait to try the hibachi next time.

First time in, gorgeous inside and the sushi very reasonably priced. Very friendly service and clean. Sushi was very fresh. They have a selection of saki to choose from and their Mai Tais have good quality rum in them ( had them both). We had something called the House, Hot Girl, Dynamo, and something else it was amazing. Hard to find because the sign is not visible on Shattuck way but worth the turn around. After all this fun I left feeling relaxed. Must have been all that Feng shui. Next time going to try hibachi. My new favorite place in Portsmouth for sushi.

I was not pleased at all. I got beef negimaki for an appetizer. I cut it in half there was crab in it. I told the waitress and she said ya theres supposed to be, Im like no its a beef plate. So they didnt charge me for the plate which was nice. Then got the hibachi meal and Ive had hibachi many times ( at IKKO in dover). So I wanted to try something different since I was near there. It was not good at all. Had no taste very bland. It was such a waste of my money.

WOW this place changed completely after they moved here. Reminds me of Ikko a lot. Great service, food and drinks. You will pay a bit more here like you do in Portsmouth but definitely worth the experience! BUT...this is to Shogun. Look at your menu. Ive never seen so many typos on a menu I was laughing hysterically! But its not exactly professional either so I would have management update those.

Absolutely terrible!! One of the worst restaurant experiences Ive had period! Terribly slow service and the sushi was bland or only tasted of mayonnaise. Very watered down drinks also and its expensive! Very poor. Do not recommend. If you want sushi, drinks, or food that isnt under a heating lamp for 20 mins your much better off going somewhere else. Do not eat here.

- in general, hibachi is definitely more enjoyable the more people you have. This particular experience was extra nice- as our chef was super engaging! We got lots of saki squirted at us from a gigantic ketchup bottle. Big dragon head was put on the birthday boy too. Food was also tasty.

Less than mediocre. Served wrong sauce with tempura. Sashimi had no particular flavor, which should have set off alarm bells in my head, but instead caused alarm and distress in my gut and successive runs to the bathroom within just hours of paying the pricey bill.
