I have been to Kobe many times and have always enjoyed my experience until last Saturday night -- 7/16/16. Service was TERRIBLE. Had reservations for 20. Waited to get seated. Waited to have drink order taken. Waited to get drinks. Waited to take food order. Waited to have cooks come out to cook our food. One grill cook did a decent job with the "show", the other did a terrible job. Waited for checks. Ended up at the cash register getting back our cards and change. By waiting -- it was 20 to 30 minutes in between each event. Staff was inexperienced and slow. One star is for food - that was still delicious!

I think this place has some really good sushi, have never had a bad experience. Hibachi is fun, food is yummy and it is a HUGE portion of food. Im always bringing at least half home. Recently went on Valentines Day and have to say it made me laugh because my boyfriend got chicken teriyaki not at the hibachi and instead of the traditional stir fry veggies he got a massive pile of bean sprouts and a pile of corn. Not sure what thats all about but I dont think that choice of veggies should stick around. We did both get a big chocolate owl after dinner though haha. And as always the staff are always really friendly.

We have been many times to the habachi and loved it. We learned quickly that if youre not sitting at the grill youre not going to get any service. It tome 20 minutes to get our drinks. Waiters and waitresses past us several times even the woman who staged she "never saw us". Another waiter picked up our table another 20 minutes before our order was taken. They were not packed, there were wait staff everywhere and yet we were neglected. Not one item was taken off our tab and not to mention the food was anything but fantastic. So disappointed as this was once a favorite place.

Just ate at the new South Portland restaurant..ordered the Sum grill ..filet & shrimp..shrimp was tough & overcooked ..I suspected they served me reheated shrimp ..I sent my shrimp back ..2 second later the server appeared with more shrimp ..Same also tough & overcooked !.. Apparently they pre-cook their shrimp & simply reheat it! Lame! Avoid ..McDonalds has fresher food !Make no mistake! This is simply a lowscale Chinese run joint trying to upscale with a Japanese moniker..

Honestly the food was good but the waiter was absolutely terrible. I let him know that I had food allergies and he immediately started to act condescending towards my friend and I. Never asked what we wanted for drinks, if we were all set, and dragged his feet to get the check and boxes. It was to the point where another waiter took our plates away for us.

Went here by fluke, had just opened so yes it was dead and quiet staff was new but the food was excellent and the portions were great. I was blown away by the tuna tartare and when asked desperate for hint of the sauce they responded. Very satisfied and being from montreal, my next trip to Maine will definately include this restaurant.

The guy "Jason" is probably an owner of a competing restaurant. There are certainly no flies buzzing anywhere, and there is no fowl smell whatsoever. The service was fantastic, and the sushi was good. The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because Im very picky about giving that rating. This was very close.

Absolutely aweful. I always wanted to try Kobe, finally after some close friends recommended it to us, we tried it. What a mistake, I ended up with food posing and sick for two days. I should have known better when there was a rotten smell in the dinning room and Flys buzzing around the tabel.

Every time Ive gone theyve been nothing but amazing! Always tastes great, I love the Japanese menus (even though Im a chicken about trying new things), the hibachi is so fun! And the cooks and staff are very talented and very kind. Its always fun to go, no one can say no to a night out at Kobe!

I ALWAYS have an amazing visit to Kobe! The hibachi is literally the best thing ever...especially if you go on your birthday!!! The chefs are extremely personable and legitimately want you to have a great time. I would highly advise stopping here for a bite to eat if you never have!

My brother reserved a table for hibatchi on Saturday for Sunday at noon. When we arrived, we waited over an hour to get food. We found out there were only 2 chefs and they went to different tables. We left on tbe spot. Why would they take a reservation if they cant fill it?

Food took forever. Some was never put in with the kitchen. My table was cleared when I took my kids to the bathroom. The waiter brought my sons plate back from the bussers bin and asked if I wanted it back. Unreal. I will NEVER go here again.

This place rocks! We take both of my grown sons and theirs wives here for their birthday celebrations and have done so for years. The food is excellent and the entertainment (meaning the hibachi chef) leave us laughing hysterically.

The presentation was better than Kobe in Biddeford on the Sushi platters BUT the hibachi presentation and cooks are MUCH better in Biddeford. So if you want a better show go to the one in Biddeford. Food was excellent as usual.

Good time. The chef was very fun with shots of saki that he squinted right into your mouth and the occasional piece of food being thrown at your mouth to be caught by you. All and all it was a good time and good food.

The service is hit and miss. The food is good, but not great. They continually amaze me with the creative ways they can mess up our to go orders. I wish there were better options that were just as convenient.

Tempura in every sushi, tasteless, sorry taste all the same grease, evwn the tataki tuna had tempura on it... If you know what good sushi taste like, go somewhere else!

Kobe is a reasonably priced sushi place. They have decent (not amazing), solid offerings. If youre looking for amazing, there are certainly choices up in Portland.

My favorite sushi place. They have happy hour deals on Mondays and Fridays, the staff is friendly, and the sushi is so good.
