The atmosphere is very nice, and the decor is extremely well done. They even have a real fireplace roaring. However, my visit today leaved a lot to be desired. I am visiting the area for work, and as such I was going out to dinner by myself for a table for 1. Im not sure if the service is like this for regular parties, but for me it was abysmal. I showed up and no one came by for a good 10 mins at the desk. When I was seated, it was another 15 minutes before anyone asked if I wanted anything to drink. The waitress asked me to order my drink, app, and main course at the same time to "save time". She then placed a plate of 4 crackers on my table. Every other table got the warmed up house bread on the table. It was another 15 minutes before I saw the appetizer, and the crackers didnt last long. This forced me to be the weird creepy guy sitting there staring off into space at the various couples and parties around me. Anyways, I got a delicious beer and was quite pleased with that. The goat cheese bread sticks was a bit iffy, but its goat cheese so no harm on their side there. Now, I ordered the 9 ounce filet mignon medium rare, with a loaded mashed potato and a ceaser salad. After I ate half the goat cheese bread, I sat there for another 15 minutes or so. No one asked me how the goat cheese sticks were, or how anything was. I just sat there. So, then I was expecting my salad to be brought out. However, I was surprised to find them bring on out the steak and the potato. I was too annoyed to care at this point and figured the delicious steak would cheer me up. This was terrible thinking, despite the man the table over ranting and raving over what a perfect steak his was. My steak was supposed to be medium rare but it was closer to well done, with no pink at all. The crust of the steak (yes there was a crust) was of burnt charcoal. I ate a 1/3 of this before the lady came back about 20 minutes later. The potato by the way was average, but no one goes out to eat a potato. The lady comes back and asks how things were, I told her of my complain and she did offer me a fresh new steak. I declined the offer and asked for an expedited check so that I could leave instead. All in all, this place has great potential and maybe it is a great place to go. However the service I received was crap, and the food was awful too. Huge dislike!

I should have expected bad food at The Homestead because this restaurant is owned by the same people as Fratellos, which offers New Hampshires worst Italian cuisine. We started our dinner with a plate of nachos. The portion was large and they were basically normal nachos. The guacamole with the nachos, however, was store bought. I have a memory for flavors and can nearly guarantee that the green mush on my plate was the egregiously smooth, over-mixed paste peddled as "Wholly Guacamole" in your local supermarket. My vegetable ravioli soon arrived looking dreadful. Without even needing to taste it, it was obvious that the broccoli was overcooked while the tomatoes and mushrooms were barely even heated. There was a watery, tasteless liquid pooling under the soggy vegetables. As I tried to eat the vegetables so as to not embarrass myself, I realized I would only be able to stomach the raviolis. Meanwhile, I wondered why I never received my caesar salad. Unfortunately I had been in the restroom (with a uniquely low inter-stall barrier) when my meal arrived sans-salad. As I moved on to the ravioli, I was relieved that they actually tasted good! I was disappointed to find two of them completely stuck together- a sure sign they were neglected while being cooked. So $18 later, I had waited 90 minutes for 5 or 6 raviolis. As my table-mates realized my vegetables were swimming in orange water, they kindly offered me bites of their meals. The veggie burger was raw in the middle, leaving with me a distinct taste of uncooked spices. The mac and cheese was palatable, albeit dry and without any flavor I would expect like onion and mustard seed. Maybe the caesar salad is good, but I cant tell you for certain because mine never showed up. Overall, this restaurant is for you if you like a mix of raw and overcooked food and having your water refilled every time you take a sip of it. If you dont like those two things, Id try somewhere else.

Super disappointed with our lunch visit today. We are big fans of your restaurant and visit often. Today we got in at about 11:50 and decided to sit at the couches at the lounge with my wife and 3 kids, another couple with their 2 year old would shortly join us. Our waitress seemed so busy with everyone else and even to order our drinks took at least 20 minutes. Long story short , we didnt receive our food untold 1:45. When we did finally receive it 3 orders were incomplete and wrong and my buffalo chicken wrap only had 2 pieces of chicken in it. Very weak. Im in the service industry and I understand sometimes things get busy. After a couple of complaints, the staff blamed it on the crowd to watch the Pats game. I have had superb service in your restaurant before on a Friday and Saturday night that have seemed much more busy than it was today. An example is we ordered an apple juice for one of our two year olds and didnt receive it till after a half hour of ordering it. Im not saying we will never come back because we probably will but I was very disappointed with the service today, not only that but with the excuse on why the service was bad today. Again as someone who owns a company and is in the service business, the last thing you do is look for an excuse. Own up and make it better. Than you for the discounts on the food but we hope our next visit is much better. Derek V

Only ok. 45 minutes wait. Very much over priced for what you get. It prices like a 5 star nyc restaurant but gives you nothing to remember when your done. Made me wonder why there is such a big wait when they are not so good and the reviews on here seem to agree that its not great. The menu was short. Nothing truly special or unique on the menu. Just a ordinary items. I ordered a burger which said it was hand made. It looked like it was a frozen sisco burger. My wife ordered the baby back ribs which were called a signature dish on the menu. but it was also only ok. In fact the ribs from Whole Foods are way better. The ribs were very sweet. There was no seasoning to the meat. There was no smoky taste to them. It didnt come with corn bread. (They dont have it). The chef should goto Whole Foods and just reheat theirs. Our waitress took 30 minutes to take our order. The spinach dig app took 15 minutes to come out. Drinks came out lighting fast. We didnt get our main food items till 50 minutes in. We were wondering if they were just starting to cook the ribs. We would not go back. There are much better places in town to spend your money.
