Incredibly rude!!! On Saturday my girlfriend and I went to Daughters Cafe for lunch using our living social voucher. However, when we arrived there (at 1 pm) we were informed by a waitress that they were closing early. This is despite the fact that their website still said that they would be open until 2pm. As if this wasnt bad enough worse was to come. After being told that they were closing I explained that we had a living social voucher that would expire in the coming week. The waitress then very rudely shrugged her shoulders and told me (and I quote) well youve had four months. Youll just have to come back on Tuesday our Wednesday. I found this response quite incredible as she did not offer even a hint of an apology. It was very embarrassing and I do not like to be talked down to like im a child. I was left with the impression that she was not interested in honoring the living social voucher and she did not consider us to be real customers despite the fact that we have already paid. Anyway there is absolutely no chance that we will be back again as we no longer wish to eat in a place that treats its customers in such a rude manner. Luckily i managed to persuade living social to refund the voucher and they are going to look into the voucher practices of Daughters Cafe. In summary, there are much better places to east downtown so avoid this place at all costs unless you want to be insulted by their very rude staff.

My friends and I have been coming to Daughters since the day the doors opened and it is still one of our favorite places to eat breakfast/brunch/lunch. Everyone who visits me from out of town has to come to Daughters and my friends and family all know Barb and Bianca and the rest of the staff. In fact, a couple of us ate there just this morning. You simply cannot beat the warm, friendly atmosphere and the delicious food. We often go in just for coffee and have never been charged extra because we didnt eat. Sometimes we meet friends there who have already eaten somewhere else and do not eat with us, they just visit. None of them have ever been charged for sitting with us. Im just saying. If you are familiar with the Daughters menu you know it changes every season and always has six or so items of high quality food that takes longer to cook because every dish is made fresh at the time it is ordered. Daughters is not Dennys or MacDonalds - it is a high quality specialty restaurant - maybe not for everyones tastes but most assuredly for ours! We love it! Sandi DeSilva

The Saturday menu is only breakfast and is mostly items that are a version of either French toast (white bread) or scrambled eggs/omelet with a variety of cheese options. While my bfast of an omelet with goat cheese, apples and walnuts was delicious, it was heavy on the goat cheese. Ditto my friends order of eggs with feta. My friends order of eggs with parmesan was claimed to be absolutely delicious and the best shed ever tasted. My friends thought her French toast was somewhat soggy and could have been cooked more. Prices are a bit high ($10-15). My major complaint was the slow service. We ordered around 1:15 when only 4 other people were there and our entrees did not arrive until after 2. We were not offered water refills or tea refills unless asked and had to find the waiter to get our check.

Excellent local business with awesome food. Come here for the warm atmosphere and delicious food. Dont come expecting them to flip tables like the chain establishments. Its a wonderful family operated business. The space is limited so best for smaller groups during the winter. Prices are moderate but worth it. Menu is limited but well executed. My wife and I along with two other couples had Sunday brunch today. The service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Mennonite Bierocks special and my wife had the Dutch Baby. The Bierocks were delicious and so where the sides especially the winter cobbler. Dutch Baby were great but maybe a little less lemon juice since it pooled in the middle of the plate. Everyone in our group loved this place. Well be back again soon.

Daughters can be summed up with a conversation with something one of the daughters said to me this past Sunday: "My mom likes to feed people real food." And it is. And its delicious. Youll wait a while, and its a spendy breakfast. This is real cooking with real ingredients, and their mom cooks like most people wish their mom did. Yes, the Dutch Babies are great, and the beignets are a vicious indulgence. What you really want is the special, and theres only one on your menu. That special may sound odd or maybe banal. Its anything but; its worth it every time. Take a risk. Surprise yourself.

My wife and i were looking forward to a nice brunch on a Sunday morning and the description of Daughters Cafe seemed to fit the bill. Unfortuneatly, the food was too sweet. As in a thick layer of powered sugar almost a half inch thick on my wifes beignets. On my Dutch Baby was a simple syrup that had some lemon juice / oil added to it which had been poured on; you guessed it: powdered sugar. The most frustrating part was that when I mentioned this to our server she responded by saying "ok" and then walked off. No response. I doubt that Ill be going back or recommending Daughters Cafe.

One of my favorite breakfast places, Daughters Cafe is now also bringing their unique, eclectic, home-style brilliance to dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. Its a fixed menu, which changes every week, but always an interesting combination and just the right amount. And a 3 course meal, with some drinks thrown in (tonight we got an ouzo aperitif, riesling with the meal, and coffee or tea with dessert) is a KILLER DEAL for $25pp. All in a wonderful, lovingly restored historic Reno house, with super-friendly service from the wonderful family who own and operate Daughters.

Needing a place to talk to a close friend over breakfast, on a Sunday no less, I sought out a place nearby and was pleased to find this quaint outdoor cafe. The food was homemade, suited the atmosphere well, and it was well-decorated. It was a bit pricey for the meal and portions. The service was unfortunately slow. We must have waited perhaps 10 minutes for my debit card to be charged where I had to walk inside and make sure it was taken care of. I do appreciate that someone is attempting at a home-based eatery like this and hope things improve in the future.

They cook seasonal dishes, but have a very limited menu. Be warned that they do not allow any substitutions on menu items. They refused to even omit an item (sausage) that I wasnt going to eat even though I had no issue paying menu price. Therefore, I cannot recommended the cafe for vegetarians or vegans. Their coffee is from a local roaster and the French press brew was quite good. The outdoor area has a number of seating options, about half of which are shaded by trees of umbrellas. Provided they are not super busy, the indoor/outdoor ambiance is pleasant.

Got there on Sunday at 9:10am with a party of 3. Ordered at 9:20, got food at 10:10. Thats a 50 minute wait which I would have been fine with but we saw three tables get their food before us even though they ordered way after us. And again I would have been fine with that if we got different meals but we got the exact same thing because its not a very big menu. Also when we got the food, the potatos and sausage were cold and the waiter seemed upset that we brought that up. Overall not a good experience, would not recommend
