This establishment deserves 0 stars but I was forced to give at least one to give this review. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in to play darts and get a beer. There was one other person in the facility aside from the bartender who was drinking a beer and playing on her cell phone. She seemed incredibly irritated that we needed help changing the game to 2 players from 3 players. As we were playing, a man came out from the basement and went to sit next to said bartender. When the game began to malfunction, we asked for help and the irritated bartender was very rude when she yelled across the bar that it "works just like it does at every other bar." We continued to try and play yet the game continued to malfunction. That is when the guy came over, ripped the darts out of my hands, and informed my boyfriend and I that "if its broken Im kicking you guys out." We were completely confused as we were just trying to make the game work properly. We decided we didnt want to be in a hostile environment, and since we had gotten to have only a few sips of our drinks, the bartender told me my transaction would be voided. The next day comes and my bank is showing the transaction went through. I called the establishment and spoke to the guy who turned out to be the guy who ripped the darts out of my hand, named Bobo. He refused to give his name to me, or any other managers name, or any other phone number I could call to get my money back and speak to someone about the issue. Long story short, this establishment is a joke. That was my first time there and I will never go back. Also, I still do not have my money back.

I had a Groupon this past summer for the Bluejay. At that time they offered 1/3 lb burgers. I wasnt expecting much as the place didnt appear to have changed much, but I do remember loving their blue cheese Bluejay burger years ago. I was pleasantly surprised. The burger was very juicy, and a perfect size, so when a Groupon came up again recently I purchased it right away. Went the other night and things have really changed. Had a group sitting next to us that had to send their burgers back because they were raw. We ordered 2 of the blue cheese Bluejay burgers. I was shocked to see the size and shape of them when they arrived. Apparently they changed to 1/2 lb burgers, so they were huge, and not even patted out. It looked like an odd shaped ball...way to fat for a burger. The burger was extremely dry and burnt on the jagged edges of the ill shaped patty/ball. Nothing like the burgers we had over the summer. Also they put swiss cheese on it instead of blue cheese. I pointed it out to the bartender, who was very nice and apologetic about it, but instead of offering to re-do my burger he said hed mention it to the owner. It does appear they are still doing some remodeling of the place which it truly needs, and the staff seems very nice. Just wont ever go there for food again unless they make some needed changes to the menu and the cooks. Just when I thought I found the perfect sized 1/3 lb juicy burger they decided to change it to a 1/2 lb dry burger that is obviously hard for the cooks to cook.

Went to Creighton for undergrad and thought Id step in last night for old times sake to get a beer and play some darts. The bar tender was drinking and texting, and the dart board was not functioning properly. We asked the "manager" who refused to give us his name, to help us get it working. He then said "If its broken, Im kicking you guys out." He then ripped the darts out of my girlfriends hand so we decided to leave at that point. The bartender told us she voided our bill, but in fact, she charged us for the beers we did not drink. Will never go back.

I had a lot a great times at the Bluejay when I was an undergraduate in the late 1980s. I dropped in tonight (May 2017) around 10pm for a beer and I could not believe my eyes. This was worse than any dive bar Ive ever been too. Seriously........what a dump! We sat outside on the deck and I was convinced it was going to collapse. My friends did not feel safe. We paid $2 for a can of bud light that had a shamrock on it - the beer was about ready to expire - Saint Patricks Day was two months ago. geesh! I will never go back! What a depressing place.

Anyone that says this place is trash didnt go to Creighton and thus doesnt deserve review status. This place is where Ive fallen in love, lost blood, excessive amounts of cash, intimately introuced myself to freshman, and learned to fight. This place does not simply fall under the category of a "bar/grill", it is more of a publicly owned corporation in which, the Creighton student population, are stockholders. The future closing of this place has been detrimental to my emotional health and my heart has lost a piece forever. 5 stars.

I am giving a one star review based on a t-shirt with The Jays logo on it that says "We are not responsible for lost or stolen virginity." Rape is not a joke, and I think that an establishment that serves alcohol and seems to cater to college-aged students should be highly sensitive to this issue. Extremely disappointing. Im asking The Jay that the t-shirts be immediately discontinued, and a public apology issued.

I went on a wednesday night and my friend ordered a double cranberry vodka and they charged her $4 and it was hardly a double if even a regular cranberry vodka I ordered the same drink and they charged me $5 and the drink still did not have enough vodka in it for what I asked for.

The new owners have put a bunch of money into the Jay to bring it back up to spec. There is more work to be done but they actually care about running a bar. Cheap beer, not bad pizza and a fun atmosphere.

The Jay is one of my favorite bars in Omaha. The bartenders are awesome and the drinks are cheap. Very fun atmosphere. Go Jays!

They have shirts that poke fun at rape. Rape is not a tagline. I dont care if theyre a great bar, they arent great people.

The Blue Jay Bar & Grill will be closing due to the loss of its liquor license and the sale of alcohol to minors.
