Worst Chinese food ever with the worst service. We called in our order and were told it was a half hour. After waiting an extra half hour we got home and half of our food was missing. We called and they told us to come back and get the rest of our order. They forgot our sweet & sour chicken completely and half of our 12 crab Rangoon. They said that we didnt order our sesame chicken at all. Basically 3 entrees and crab Rangoon were 45 bucks with no delivery. We had to wait another half hour for the food they forgot and despite the extra hour total to get the correct food and the accusation of lying about the missing crab Rangoon they still wanted us to pay extra for the sesame chicken. Then when we got home the crab Rangoon was rancid like the grease was filthy and old and the sesame chicken and gen. Tso chicken had no flavor other than salt. So after paying more by far than neighboring restaurants, a long wait for the wrong food, linger wait for the right food and poor attitude from the owner, the food was horrible. We will never eat here again and can only assume that the positive ratings are from employees and/or family members. Save yourself the frustration and indigestion and go to China Moon on Mid-Rivers.

It is with such disappointment that I write this review - we have enjoyed the food at Mandarin Garden for years and yet the service has never been good...the surly attitude from the apparent owner has always been vexing, but we always overlooked it because the food is good and the location convenient...however, after today neither of those positives outweighed the absolute rudeness of the service. They turned off the lights and the heat well before the appointed closure - while people were still eating! She tossed the cleared table services into the bin with a meanness that made us fearful of being hit with dishes or food debris. Not once were we properly greeted or offered any bit of friendliness - when I approached the owner to make my disappointment known she curtly dismissed me and said she had a hurt leg - I am sorry for that but it does not excuse the most rude behavior Ive ever experienced. If you want to enjoy the food, please call in an order and take it home - they do not care if you find them rude or eat in the restaurant, in fact I would go so far as to say they resent you being there.

LOVE IT..LOVE IT...LOVE IT!!! Found my new favorite dish, replacing a Thai curry dish, Hot Braised Pork. When I asked to have it made as spicy as possible, the waiter confirmed that I meant it. I got a dish with plenty of spicy oil and other spices. Two different people, including the owner, checked with me that it wasnt too spicy. Went for lunch during the week and was able to get in right away. There was a steady flow of take-out customers all through lunch. However, weekend dinner is packed. If you plan on take-out, probably better to just go in and order and wait instead of trying to call-in an order for pick-up. But the wait is well worth it! The only problem I had, and might just be a one-time inconsistency, was the Crab Rangoon. Of the four pieces we had, two were average to above average, one just had a little meat in it (no cream), and one had a tiny bit of meat in it (no cream) and everything was fried together. That piece was inedible. Guess Ill just be forced to return and try again!!!

Absolutely love this place. Ive been coming here since I was a kid. By far the best Chinese food in the area. Many people review saying the customer service is awful, I absolutely agree. If you are looking to come here for a great experience and service that is going to be top notch, dont bother. However, the food makes up for this is so many ways. I refuse to get take out or get Chinese food from anywhere else the food is just that good. If you can overlook some poor customer service and just embrace it for what it is Mandrian Garden is absolutely amazing. My family only goes here for Chinese food. And I would suggest it to anyone. If you decide to get take out, remember.... Hold from bottom!

Weve been going here for years, it is by far the BEST Chinese food you will EVER eat! :) UPDATE: I hate to do this, but after giving our business to mandarin garden for over 20 years, I have to say the customer service was horrible today. The owner has never been too friendly, but today she got into with my grandmother. She INSISTS on packing our left overs, And she puts them in the smallest containers possible. This place is A LOT like that soup place in Seinfeld. The food is amazing, but the owner is scary and rude. This place is my grandmas favorite restuarant, and after today she said "we need to find another Chinese restaurant to go to."

My family and I have been going to Mandarin Garden for over 25 years and its the best Chinese food in the area hands down. Weve tired other places once in a while over the years but they just dont compare. Ive never had anything there that Ive disliked, although I do have my favorites. The sweet and sour chicken, mandarin beef, and veggie deluxe with brown sauce (normally comes with a white sauce) are all amazing. They have the best hot and sour and egg drop soups. We typically get take out for lunch because its the most bang for your buck. The staff has always been friendly.

I order food to go. I get my food and she tells me its 55 bucks. I asked why so much and she replied no combination plates. Everything is seperate. So I go ahead and pay and I get to the gas station and I notice liquid on my floor. The hot braised chicken juice was everywhere. They put it in a Chinese go box not like Styrofoam but paper. So I clean up the mess and get home. The chicken had no flavor and the rice was burnt. I paid 55 bucks and could have gotten WAY better food from panda express. Will never go there again.

Food is terrific, especially for the price. Service is hit and miss -- they are chronically understaffed and ordering carryout is a crap shoot -- I usually pad 10-15 minutes on whatever they tell me because this place is packed non-stop and always running behind, they run a lean crew. Has won best Chinese several times, and deservingly so, the hot braised chicken is about the best dish in town. We love this place and have been going here for years.

The food is consistently fantastic and the best in the St. Louis-St. Charles region. Ive been a patron for over 25 years and the food and service has always been great. It is, as others have stated, a bit busy at times and you must be willing to wait a little longer for take-out during their "rush hour" times. Seating is limited, so make a reservation and you will be fine. Just the BEST!!!
