My lovely wife and I have a 5 month old breastfed baby. The reason why I say that is because that obviously means we do not get out much together. Thankfully, my patient and great mother of mine gave us some free time away from out little man to a small night out. This was my wifes pick, given the fact that we love Nakatos and wanted to try a competitor. The experience was awful - at about 82° room-temperature. Our arrival time was at about 4:30 PM on Saturday, June 11 2016. It was about 92° outside this fairly warm day. When we went into the restaurant, we were seated immediately. That excitement was quickly turned by the fact that we were sat in a fairly small and extremely closed off room that had no windows, the light beaming on my back from an exit door, and that we were placed on a "connecting" peice of countertop that sat way too high and the middle view of the back end of both hibachi grills. This said peice was also set in about 2 inches from my wife and cramped between my wife and a lady on the other end of me. Im an HVAC technician. I understand the immense amount of BTUs that expelled from these grills, and having no windows and 2 heat lamps installed in the overhead in eavh grill exhaust, it must be an outrageous utility bill at this establishment. I can assure you that keeping your staff and your customers comfortable during a sit-down meal at 78° is not exactly ideal. Especially, since the thermostats read 78° at its OWN radial temperature threshold. That doesnt hold up the same for a couple of people mashed between 13 strangers and two grills. We bared it, given that it is an understandable issue amongst the layout of this restaurant. We were served our water prompt upon arrival to our seats, and were passed our onion soup. Very salty, watery and gutless. There were 2 pieces of onion and a measly little piece of a mushroom, and the rest water. Now I know this is just a soup and Im not asking for a scallion and shiitake party, but a little flavor other than salt water would of been acceptable. The next item that we were served was a small salad. Of course, the dynamic duo of ALL American tweaked Hibachi cousines. Expecting the taste of ginger and romaine was met with iceberg and thousand island. Oh, and some La Choy rice noodles to top. Nothing that could of been procured at home at almost any give time, except for the chow mein topping to our salad. I asked my wife if she wanted to go. She wanted to hang on for a bit, thinking that the main course would be OK. The waitress came over to take our bowls and proceeded to tell is that our cook is running late and will be 10 or 15 minutes. At this time, I was eager to go. My lovely wife, yet, still giving it a chance. This night was mainly about her since I do believe she works much harder than me being a breastfeeding mother, so Iet her decide. After our wait and starting to get uncomfortable amid the temperature of the restaurant, the cook finally comes - for the opposite hibachi. He went to check the operation of the grill, and told the group of people at that side of the strangely connected giant countertop that the grill was shut down by the last cook, and will be another 10 minutes. We were still waiting on our cook. The waitress came back, and told our group on "our" side of this confusing countertop table that our chef if preparing our meals and will be another 10 minutes. Eagerness was beginning to set in. The other people that have been sitting at this countertop longer than us have been stiring too. Their chef finally arrived again, and began their onion fire show. At at least a 78° local radial temperature around the thermostat, this was almost unnecessary anymore. Wife broke out the "lets go" look I then approached the waitress, who gave a classy "its f*in hot in here" comment to another waitress in front of me, and told her me and my wife have to leave and explained why. She let us go, didnt pay for anything because we hadnt necessarily received anything, and left. Time was 6:10 PM. If I could, absolutely no stars.

The food was great, service was awful. Ive only been here once before and it was good that time. This time though I dont think I will be going back. Someone seated at the table obviously knew the staff and chef. The chef was rude to everyone else at the table, ignoring orders, ignoring requests, giving hardly any food at all and giving the other people free food. Which I doubt hes allowed to. The food tasted great but it was pretty unpleasant when I ordered and paid shrimp and only received half the order while the family that knew the chef got the other half for free, I didnt go to buy strangers dinner. The chef stood and talked to the family while allowing the food to burn and again ignoring the rest of the table. Even though the food was very good that is just not a way to allow staff to act. Giving free food from the plates of people who pay, talking to one group until the food burns and telling customers its too late to ask for the right food because "that was the question five minutes ago so..." is not acceptable.

I was the worst experience ever. We sat in a table and the chief who cooked our meal was very inappropriate and rude. Through the whole entire thing he made fun of us. He told my aunt that she had a very large mouth. He hit on the waitress. He didnt get the portions right and he gave those who didnt order chicken, the chicken of those who did. So I was left with a small portion while others had a big heaping pile of chicken. I leaned into my cousin to tell her something and he said "It not good to keep secrets, they will destroy you." He made fun of my sisters eyes because she was Chinese. He told my cousin in law he was fat. At the be ginning he used a toy boy and water squirted out of it representing a man peeing all over our food. We had children there it was so inappropriate. He flung food at us even after we told him we didnt want that. I could go on with more. When I find out his name I will re-edit this with his name. And he said "fresh from all the away from Walmart." Though our waitress was very kind.

Ok - so first off - the quality of the food - its really good. IF your chef is good and does a good job with the seasoning... But - the biggest negative by far? The NON cooking staff. Amazingly rude at the podium. THREE times they have "lost" our reservations and we had to wait over an hour for a table with 2 impatient kids. The last time it was for my sons birthday or we would have just left. On top of that - even though I called 2 days in advance that last time just to be sure they had the reservation and KNEW it was his birthday - they didnt do the dragon thing! And when I asked them - they said - oh - we didnt know you wanted that. We can do that but it will cost you extra and there will be a 25 minute wait. WHAT??? We just sat in the lobby for 1 hour waiting for our "reserved" table and then were told that the dragon for his birthday would be another 25 minutes??? Thats insane. We left with a very upset little boy. I cant honestly believe we gave it so many tries. *sigh*
